  1. Rhule brought in Teddy and gave PJ the backup role even though he didn’t earn it in preseason and then he put Cam in the game after being with the team for like two days and you think it’s about race?
  2. Because it’s not an offensive coordinator problem, it’s the head coach. Matt Rhule and Phil Snow work on defenses at every stop and rarely does their offense ever get above league average. He’s won everywhere he has been but it’s never been because of the offense. Not sure how he got labeled as an offensive minded head coach because the numbers for him never reflected that. I think he cracked the top 50 in offense in college once out of seven seasons.
  3. Was this on the TD drive or the INT? Can’t remember which was in two minutes.
  4. Stopping at the first point because I see this slung around here a lot and nowhere else… Brady did call plays at LSU. They were all the 5-wide and any empty sets. So he called about 1/3 of the plays for LSU the year he was there. Plus it was his offense that was installed.
  5. Rhule has never produced a top offense at any stop.
  6. I explained what gave me pause about him. Burrow still looked good enough at OSU when he got in. His not so great year was still good enough. It wasn’t completely out of nowhere. There were signs. Pickett has been basically nothing for four years while getting good playing time and then he boomed this year.
  7. I worry that he’s an older player finally breaking out in college that his performance isn’t good enough. Hell be 24 before the season starts as a rookie. Is he just a super late bloomer? He’s been nothing as a prospect for four seasons and now in his fifth year of college he’s done well? Worries me.
  8. Yeah the style of offense he likes to run can dominate college for sure. And it’s easier to pull off with lesser talent at the college level.
  9. I don’t believe, for the most part, people here claiming tape doesn’t match the stat sheet have actually seen the tape to make this claim. He looked like a solid NFL QB this week putting up stats not in garbage time at all.
  10. Howell is the only one in this class I’d go for in round 1.
  11. Bad team doesn’t mean bad QB play. Minshew more than did his part to help them win. There’s a reason Wilson went in the 3rd. There’s a reason Brady went at the end of the draft. There’s a reason Rodgers dropped far behind Smith… teams make dumb decisions all the time. The Jaguars are the epitome of I wouldnt try and emulate them.
  12. When they said that it would have been like he had 1/3 of all playcalling duties because LSU had empty backfield a lot.
  13. I get the point you’re attempting to make. I just wanted to add in some info before it goes spreading around here that he never called plays before this.
  14. Tbf Brady did call some plays while at LSU. I believe it was said he called empty backfield and all five-wide plays. It wasn’t him calling whole games but it was above zero.
  15. Minshew. But he had a worse offensive line.
  16. He puts up those numbers without things being great around him... Like you literally can't make the argument that things around him were great in Jacksonville or Philly.
  17. Again, if that were true his numbers would reflect that. The only quarter of the schedule he has ever struggled is the weeks 9-12. 15:5 in weeks 1-4. 11:2 in weeks 5-8. 1:3 in weeks 9-12. 12:1 in weeks 13+.
  18. Again, you just complained about analytics and then misused them to disparage Minshew with the "barley putting up 20 TDs a season". In his first year he put up 20 in rookie campaign and in year 2 his 16 touchdowns were in 8 starts. On pace for 32. Not bad for a second year player on a franchise that was tanking. Minshew would be the best QB we have had on this roster since prime Cam. And Minshew doesn't need everything around him to be perfect to have success. He has had success for two years and in his only start this year he had success. And the Jaguars and Eagles have far from perfect rosters. We would be a playoff team with him.
  19. They threw the ball 12th most in the NFL and only had 3 more rushes than us. 17th in rushing yards and 16th in passing yards. Despite all those throws they were tied for 5th least intercepted team in the NFL. The Jaguars hurt themselves via penalties that year. Second most penalties for the most yards in the NFL. Compensation absolutely is not the only reason I am "yelling" for Minshew. Weird to tell others why they are doing X Y or Z and be inaccurate. I wanted Minshew before he got traded to the Eagles. And again... both of Minshews scores yesterday came with the team down, in the first half. Not garbage time at all. I watched the game though and the analytics backed that up.
  20. I posted above you, by two posts and discussed some of this "garbage" time stuff. He's basically the same QB across the board in terms of how he performs relative to the score.
  21. I try to be level headed and not evaluate from an emotional standpoint. His QBs here have been Sam Darnold and Teddy Bridgewater. I wouldn't categorize either as good. Both in terms of league standing are in the bottom half. His best offensive weapon is injury prone. The line we have given him to work with is below average. I believe a lot of intelligent franchises and colleges are going to give him a look as an OC again because its very easy to look at what he had to work with here consistently and come to the conclusion it would have been difficult for any OC to come in here with what's gone on and make things go great. There's always a few people in the gameday threads who note that there are open players on plays and our QBs are missing reads or making poor throws. He can call the perfect play and if the players don't execute it the fanbase chalks it up to his playcalling. He can call a dogshit designed play and it work out and the masses think he called some magical play. The players are put in positions to succeed and our poor QB play week in and week out is the biggest reason why the play calling looks poor. People hated his red zone play calling and then this season when everyone was healthy we were amazing in the red zone before the wheels fell off where Sam shat the bed and Christian became dead. Then we get Cam in here and the last three weeks with him we've been the 7th best team in the red zone again. There's pieces there that other teams will look at and see why its hard to judge what happened here. And I am sure he will make the excuse when interviewing that Rhule is a college coach, there needed to be adjustments, they drafted basically all defense while I was here, they gave me Teddy and Sam to work with, etc. But he is gone now from here and not in the running to have a job here going forward so we should move on.
  22. He isn't entering the draft: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/hes-back-louisville-quarterback-malik-163653428.html For context he has been at Louisville since 2017 where he Red Shirt. In 2018 he barely played and threw 1 TD and 1 INT. In 2019 he was 22:5, 2020 he was 20:12, 2021 he is 18:6 throwing the ball in terms of TD to INT. He is coming back to college for his 6th year at Louisville. If drafted to the NFL next season he was be a 25 year old rookie QB. We have Sam and PJ as our QBs next year so far and I think both of them have no contract after that. As it stands now, he would be the only QB on our roster in 2023 so he would have to be the projected starter. If we signed another guy to let him develop under how long does that last? Three years in development puts him at 28 years old cracking the starting lineup for the first time. That's a long time to wait for a guy and would be the end of Rhules contract.
  23. Here are some context stats for you. Gardner Minshew in wins: 18 Touchdown Passes to just 1 Interception. In games decided by 0-7 points: 13 Touchdowns and 3 INTS. In games decided by 8-14 points: 13 Touchdowns and 2 INTS. In games decided by 15+ points: 13 Touchdowns and 6 INTS. Because he is on the Jags though and they suck and lose to everyone it just appeared he was Blake Bortles and racking up stats in garbage time but he was pretty consistent across the board in terms of score. Darnold, for instance was much better in the first half of games than the second half but he played in many blowouts. Yesterdays game: Minshew throws a touchdown pass when his team is down 6-0. Minshew throws a second touchdown pass when his team is down 12-7. Both TDs gave his team the lead. Gardner Minshew in the first half was 14/15 for 190 Yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs. This wasn't garbage time.
