  1. It was the lead up up to the draft when I had more time to check out his games from that season where I was finally comfortable saying let’s pick him. I can’t be mad at our organization though as he went one spot in front of us and we scouted him more than anyone. Not happy about Fields and if Stroud is there I would hope he is the pick.
  2. Herbert, Fields, and now Stroud. Those have been my guys.
  3. Take note we are down to a bunch of guys who don’t play for us this week at WR:
  4. Turns out the #1 and #2 rated QBs ( Lawrence and Fields ) should have been 1 and 2 in the draft. Prospect fatigue is real and it hurt Fields. Although he’s probably lucky he didn’t go to the Jets but he would have been gold in San Fran.
  5. The thing is all these kids have some talent. It’s a matter of our coaching staff believing they can take that talent and turn it into consistent NFL play.
  6. This is a big part of it. I wouldn’t start him year 1 in the NFL unless we had an offensive coordinator like they have for the Ravens or Bears. Where you let his legs help you out while he learns on the job the throwing part of it. Cut down the reads in half and let him make a play. If you are just drafting him to be a traditional drop back passer who only runs when it’s a last resort you are going to need to give him time to develop that part of it. Especially coming from Floridas offensive line.
  7. He is getting better each week but the team as a whole isn’t a good supporting cast. I think off of talent alone he could go in the back of the first but likely belongs in the second round. If he has a good game against FSU and then the bowl game he might enter the draft. However, I’m hoping, and his teammates are campaigning, for him to do one more year in school. The supporting cast will be a lot better which should help his development and his numbers. If he comes back for a year there’s a good chance he goes from maybe a first rounder all the way to top of the first round. The tools are there. The stuff you can’t teach is there. And he works hard and he is a good kid. But he should stay for one more year and then hand the keys to Rashada or Lagway ( if we get him ) the year after that.
  8. Lawrence, Burrow, Tua, Murray aren’t bad. Wilson has looked terrible this season. We still don’t know what Lance is. The more recent QBs of the last five years looks much better than the bottom half of that list. But part of this is where they are going and who that team is. The only one I can’t make an excuse for is Lance other than he hasn’t played. The situation he is in is terrific for a QB. The others mostly went to dumpster fires. Well, Tua wasn’t in a bad spot either. That defense was stacked but they had work to do on offense.
  9. If we are absolutely forced to make the pick and can’t trade back? Hope Will Anderson drops to 4, or Jalen Carter. Find out what Gardner Minshew is doing and draft a WR in round 2 or TE. Assuming we get the Eagles OC as our new coach. Anderson or Carter would help both Brown and Burns on the line and give the QBs less time to throw, Minshew knows the system that would be coming and could even mentor Corral. Let the new head coach assess the team after one year and if he finds a QB in the draft he likes trade whatever is required to go get him.
  10. I was just kidding. If you look back I have been very anti Jordan Love. The only recent round 1 QB I was less sold on was Trey Lance.
  11. Yeah he didn’t turn out to be some elite Tackle but he’s a monster at guard. Maybe if they draft Paris in the draft for LT they can kick Boram to LG and see if the magic works twice. But yeah they are lucky they didn’t trade him.
  12. They should be the favorites in free agency to snag two offensive lineman and at least one defensive lineman that are all starters. TJenkins when he’s out there has been a dominant guard. They would just need to sure up left tackle and center to be ok.
  13. We will know if Fields landed on the wrong team this off-season. They have 130 or so million in cap space to repair the defense and offensive line. On top of that they are drafting high in the first. If they trade back a handful of spots they can still take a #1 WR. The Bears should be a team majorly on the rise in 2023 but we’ll see.
  14. He’s also actually been good regardless of system. The Jags should have rolled with him and gave him weapons to throw to vs going for Lawrence. I get it, he was a sixth rounder. But if Minshew was a first rounder and put up the same numbers he already has folks would be looking at him like a good QB.
  15. You want to draft Penix who has never been the player or talent that Fields is. If you aren’t willing to draft Penix in the first then you aren’t sold on him. We don’t need to settle for second tier.
  16. Fields has more passing touchdowns than all the Panthers QBs combined, less interceptions, and has scored more touchdowns than our entire offense. Kyle Allen would die behind the Bears offensive line. Montgomery had to jump for that ball Fields through but it did hit him in his hands. It should have been caught. Mac Jones also looks a lot better than anyone we have on our team. We passed on both them. And now we are playing catch up again. We need to draft our top end QB and then develop him. Trading back isn’t the answer. Identify our guy and get him.
  17. I think Penix might be just another guy who transferred out west to put up crazy stats. It worked for Eason, Minshew, Penix, even Bo Nix and I’m sure I’m forgetting some others. I can’t count Caleb Williams because he put up numbers last year anyway.
  18. We’d have a developing QB. Which we don’t have now.
