  1. If he’s there around 10-15 you snag him and get excited about the next 10 years.
  2. Being optimistic sounds exhausting? I can’t imagine what life is like for downers to go through their day to day being negative about everything.
  3. Nobody can tell me what to be excited for. But yea when they get here, when we got them no longer matters. If they show some reason to be excited for, I will be.
  4. To each their own about what can or can’t excite you. I find ways to be optimistic about most things.
  5. If the new regime and GM all agree he’s the guy I don’t care where they draft him. Just get me somebody to be excited about.
  6. Z. Wilson, Trey Lance, Wentz, Jordan Love hurts the small school blow up stats guys chances of getting picked high. Too many times a guy in college heads out west and just dominates statistically. Nix has benefit from this as well.
  7. It’s not the players who tank. But for the record, we have say through a lot of Carolina football where the team doesn’t seem interested in winning.
  8. Fields just lost Mooney for the year, too. 30 points a game for five games in a row. When is the last time we did that?
  9. You think LSU with Burrow didn’t have guys running open? You think Herbert at Oregon didn’t have guys running open? Watch tape on any of the games best quarterbacks and for every wow throw where they fit the ball into a tight window there are 5-6 throws where the WR on their first read is 2-3 yards open when the throw leaves the QBs hand in college. It’s much harder being a college CB than a college WR.
  10. And Georgia went with Fromm over Fields. Bama wasn’t properly utilizing Hurts and had him playing over Tua for most of the year. It took Dabo 4 games to figure out Lawrence was better than the kid he replaced. It took Dan Mullen years to figure out Trask was better than Franks. Now Dabo is sticking with DJ when he isn’t doing it. Even Rattler was starting over Caleb Williams. Chris Leak was starting over The Golden Calf of Bristol. This isn’t a unique thing in college football. This happens all over, everywhere. Burrow fit the system just fine. When he was in he put up numbers. He went to LSU and did just ok. Then his second year there with Joe Brady he boomed. And as far as Fields, yes. When I see marked improvement in decision making from year 1 to year 2, and a no talent team around him has a stretch of five straight games averaging 30 points to lead the NFL during that stretch I’ll say there’s for sure improvement showing that there is no such thing as an OSU QB curse. That’s a very weak form of “analysis”.
  11. We didn’t need an additional defensive lineman. Kony balled out in the SB. We needed offensive lineman or another able bodied WR after Philly got hurt early.
  12. I thought he fell because folks were concerned about his injuries/injury past. I didn’t hear anything about him beating up kids.
  13. This is accurate. He is a better prospect than anyone currently on the roster or currently injured.
  14. Joe Burrow was there for three seasons. Justin Fields last 5 games has his team averaging 30 points a game ( and they just did 10 points without him ). Don’t scout the school. Scout the player.
  15. I don’t mind this. To me, after years and years of waiting, I am set on we need a round 1-2 QB now and if we want to take a chance on another guy in this draft as well thats fine by me. Worked for Washing when they got RGIII and Cousins. They just unfortunately hitched their wagon to the guy they ruined by playing him too hurt.
  16. For sure if he is available there you take a chance on him. Like I said, it’s going to come down to interviews and does this team feel he has matured enough from his past. Something to push him to the NFL.. I believe Rhule just plucked his or is about to pluck his offensive coordinator from this season.
  17. We have seen Sam play NFL QB for five seasons now? And we have seen him play long stretches here. He did this against one of the absolute worst teams in the NFL right now. This performance is nothing to write home about just like I didn’t get overhyped about a few good games he had to start the season last year, or the Kyle Allen four game stretch, etc. If he keeps this going I will settle for the “he’s being handcuffed” by our coaching staff once again.
  18. To be fair, for college, I’d bench a lot of kids in favor of Caleb Williams. Rattler has the arm talent. For me it’s just an issue of maturity. If he’s not immature like he was during QB1 he’s worth a gamble. How much is going to vary from person to person. I’m ok with a second on him vs a second on Levis, Richardson or Hooker, for instance. Rattler has a moment few kids do in college: He elevated his entire team against Tennessee. You don’t fluke your way to the stat line he did. And for South Carolina to dominate the way they did… he performed. Not with superior talent around him against a lesser team… Not against a team that’s even with them in talent… he lifted up the entire offense. And he was throwing dimes. When you draft him you are going to ask yourself if you can find that in him and bring it out more. Did something finally click? It felt like this was the first time he played with no pressure on him and he shredded. If you can coach him into that mind state week in and week out you can have something. It’s no more of a risk hoping that Levis or Richardson will complete passes at an acceptable level in the NFL, or that Hooker will continue to perform in a league where he is no longer 16 years older than players on the defense, or that Penix isn’t benefitting majorly from going to play out west like almost every other starting QB who went out there like Nix, Penix, Minshew, Eason, Caleb Williams, etc. Find what you think you can coach up easiest, find where you are comfortable as a GM picking them, and go all in on them.
  19. Too vague. There’s a lot of what ifs in there. So we win out and win a playoff game? I’d keep the coach around, sure. If we win out and Darnold keeps passing for 150 yards a game we can keep him as a backup, not the starter.
  20. He’s a pocket passer who threw for like 150 yards. Folks shouldn’t be counting this as a good game from Sam.
  21. He isn’t guaranteed anything. Even if we drafted Travis he’s not looked at like he’s a day 1 starter. He probably doesn’t go until day 3 of the draft. If that’s the case he’s just going to compete with Matt, who is under contract anyway.
  22. That Baker is the only one to experience and real level of success in this league? Doesn’t mean they haven’t all been poo this year.
  23. Young and Stroud are the number 1-2 of this class. Just like Lawrence and Fields were 1-2 of that class before everyone got prospect fatigue on them and decided to trash Fields before the draft. I’m sure the Jets and 49Ers would redo that if they could.
  24. Maybe somebody will Fields him and a false story about how he’s a last in, first out kid who doesn’t work hard? Or that OSU QBs don’t work in the NFL? ( ignoring his recent stretch where they were the top scoring team in the NFL for five weeks and then dropped to 10 points this week without him ) But yeah, if we were hoping to have our pick of the litter at 2 that’s out of the window now. Hopefully our new regime feels strongly about one of the guys after him and makes that call. Just being honest here, I’d rather roll with a Levis or Richardson ( and I haven’t publicly supported us drafting either of them ) and let them develop for three seasons than bring in somebody else’s cast off for 1-2 year deals again and watch us repeat a process that hasn’t worked for us. That being said, I would be ok with bringing in Minshew because I don’t think he has had a fair shake and he’s put up better numbers than any QB we have rolled out for years and he’s done it with lesser talent around him.
