They need to let him get a few more drives unless he’s slicing up the defense. If he’s out there shredding I’d rather get him out and keep him healthy. But if things are slow again for the offense is like to see us press the issue and leave him out there until we get a scoring drive.

A Reminder That It's Not 2022. It's A Whole New Season and League.

But they had him the year before too, right? And won like two games. Every year Luck was healthy the Colts were playoff contenders. -
Which isn’t the end of the world. Things will get better from here. I trust the staff and this wasn’t the lines best performance. I’m confident things will be fine come the regular season start.

Who impressed and who sucked - preseason game 1

Any idea who #2 was? -
We are missing the top end studs like CMC and DJ sure but we typically are missing a #2 WR and pass catching tight end and offensive line and we have all those. So while the top might be not as great, the middle is significantly higher in my eyes. And with Bryce instead of PJ, Sam, Baker, Kyle, etc, we should look better offensively than we do. And with all that coaching experience? To me, this is the best we’ve been talent wise in some time.

The Colts with Andrew Luck is the only one I can think of off the top of my head who were contenders as soon as he got there. -
I know you’re trying to be witty and throw shade but it’s literally in the title. They felt he had a disappointing debut. The headline was not false.

I’ve been around here plenty long and been just fine. Folks are just sensitive right now.

I have literally written Bryce didn’t look overwhelmed to me. However that doesn’t need to be an all or nothing assessment. I can acknowledge he went through progressions at times, while also acknowledging he definitely didn’t feel pressure from the dline on at least one of the sacks, while acknowledging that it’s disappointing to me to not see any third down conversions, or any points. And these are things that will be cleaned up over time before the season starts, I believe. But it’s not like he came out and lit it up. He didn’t. And I said he didn’t light it up. At no point when watching this first action of him could I walk away feeling like this was some great performance. 4 of 6 for like 20 yards passing to me is just meh. It’s not horrible, it’s not great. I was hoping to see more and I even said I was getting hyped before the game started after promising I wouldn’t. They wrote the title, not me. I just linked what I said I would.

Who impressed and who sucked - preseason game 1

It’s the part of the trade I hated. I loved DJ and felt he worked with some real trash QBs here and then got blamed for not scoring enough TDs. -
Why leave off the attached part?

I am a Florida homer. Not sure what that has to do with this. The first article reads: Bryce Young struggles in preseason debut as Panthers are shut down by Jets

From starter to starter across the board this is the best team we have fielded in some time. There’s no reason we should be handing any top 10 pick to the Bears this season. We should be beyond competitive. The line will be fine come regular season and Bryce will be settled in by then.

I’m also confident the line will be fine at the start of the season. These guys aren’t unknown quantities. -
I got a lot of alerts for sites that write about football. I saw pings about Bryce having a disappointing debut on a chunk of them. I shared that here. Got told nobody could find one on Google at all so they asked for links. I’m at work so I took 10 seconds to google and copy paste some. That’s all I’m getting at.

That is an objective look. Fields played with no talent around him and a poor line. Is that up for dispute? Have I ever written he’s not at fault for some of his sacks? Nope. Stroud was out there for like 30 seconds and I acknowledged he threw an awful INT. But it’s one game and people overreacted to the pick. Is that up for dispute? Bryce did not flash at all. He obviously didn’t feel the pressure on one of the bigger sacks. We didn’t convert any third downs and didn’t get a field goal or touchdown. That isn’t flashing. Is that up for dispute? But I’ve also defended Bryce on here that he hasn’t been given too much for his plate and said he didn’t look overwhelmed at all in his debut. What is so terrible about what I wrote? I like Fields and I am a fan of his and do want to see him do well. I’m not attached to Stroud like that so he’s not one of “my guys”. And I was openly excited for our first preseason game as I’ve written here on this site. And Bryce is a big reason for that.

I mean maybe that’s where they are writing it was disappointing. No extended drives. No touchdowns. No field goals. No third down conversions. It’s not like he lit it up either.
-
Teddy never deserves a pro bowl, honestly. How many 15 passing touchdown seasons has he had? I am asking for 15-20 TDs. Not a world beater.

I expect us to be really close if we don't make it. If Young can give us a Bridgewater level season this year, which he should exceed, we are a playoff team. Lets not overreact to one preseason game. Our roster is better across the board this year in almost every position group and we were one game from the playoffs. The only spot where its debatable is WR but we have the age of debate of is it better to have a true 1 and then some 3s and 4s or is it better to have 2 2's, a 3 and a 4? Some would argue having Chark and Theilen is better than having Moore. But we added a pass catching back and a pass catching tight end that we were missing so maybe that evens out.

Richardson did recover fairly well from an early pick and threw an absolute dime to the endzone for Pierce but he couldn't hold onto the ball. Dude looked lost on one play and threw a terrible interception and everyone wants to overreact to it. For a guy who was in theory, the least NFL ready QB of the top 5 QBs, he didn't look any more lost than any of them. Same with Stroud, he threw 4 passes and it was overreaction time. Even Young, theres tons of articles about his disappointing first start but its just one game. Each of these guys are going to flash and each of them are going to look list in games in year one. Its the nature of the beast. I felt Stroud and Richardson are in the worst situation out of the Young, Stroud, Richardson and Levis group. Young is in the best spot, then Levis where he has good coaches and a monster RB he can rely on, then Richardson IF JT comes back to work, and then Stroud. The Texans simple have a terrible roster. I had Richardson as the #2 I wanted after Stroud. I just feel like the staff we have and the entire offense around the QB where we are.... Richardson with his upside would have thrived here.

Positive from Today: Bryce Young's Talent in One Play
Varking replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean we need to look at context. This is a kid who the last two times he got into a live game, got hurt His finish to his college career and his start to his pro career. So it should look like a rookie who got hurt and still hasn't adjusted to the speed of the NFL. And as "shaky" as he looked, he still went out behind a trash offensive line performance with the lesser wide receivers and went 15 of 22 for 68% completions. More reps and maybe we have ourselves an NFL roster level QB. We have won some games with PJ Walker and I think MC can be a bit better than that. This was an ok start. -
