To be clear, my thought process is the team has to decide something for the players, via the coaching staff. If we are putting out the "best" players regardless of draft positioning, then right now you go with Andy Dalton because he looks like he can give us the best chance to win and maybe we can trade him for a fourth later this year. If the team wants to build for the future, as it should, but it does wave the white flag a bit to the players, then you start Bryce Young because he is our future and he needs the reps. I know folks want to point to Jordan Love but watch the games. He is struggling to complete half his passes. Sitting for years doesn't promise he is going to turn out great. Love is 3-0 despite completing just 53.1% of his 93 passes. And one of those games was against the Chicago Bears who can stop nothing on defense. They are allowing just under 70% completions and have one sack on the season. Against the Packers they registered one pressure, no sacks and no ints for the game against Love and he went 15 of 27.

I found it and bumped it

Where are we going to get these fast WRs who can actually catch? And where can we get them before the rest of the league does the same? And the offensive line? And the modern offensive minded head coach? Tua and Bryce can't be compared size-wise though. One was 6'1 225 ( and he is heavier now ) and one showed up to the combine with water weight weighing 204. I don't care about the height. He needs to put weight on. If he isn't going to be some read option QB then I don't really need him lighter to run more anyway.

The S2 score claimed Stroud was an idiot and CJ was a rocket scientist in comparison. I was always on the CJ bandwagon and I made the first thread here saying we should suck for Stroud. I saw what I needed to see when watching the games every week and then I felt like everyone was jumping on board after the UGA game. After that, once the offseason hit, it felt like there was a lot of non football stuff that was coming out that was super pro Bryce and anti CJ and I just never understood it. I was hoping its just going to take time to gel for Bryce and Frank here and then come mid-season we will boom and look great but based on what I saw from CJ through three games, and what we saw of Richardson before he got injured, I am hoping it happens much sooner. If Josh Dobbs and the castoffs can beat the Cowboys and he look like a good QB, why can't we have that here sooner, rather than later?

Suuuuuuuuuuuure does look like coaching is the problem
Varking replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
They’ll need a new coach and GM as well to go with it. They’ve invested tons of resources into the defense over the last two seasons and still have the worst defense in football. Even on offense they have no idea what they are doing. It was 21-0 when Fields was 3/5 passing for 35 yards. They said they’d do more designed runs against the Chiefs and didn’t really. Caleb Williams should pull a Luck and not go into the draft if it’s the Bears with their current coaching and GM team. -

Atlanta and New Orleans look atrocious on offense as well so that may have helped in weeks 1 and 2 not show some of the flaws. They are sandwiching us in points per game right now towards the bottom of the league. -
Where have I lashed out?

I 100% agree more reps = good. I think teams are still trying to figure out the secret sauce with the new preseason format. They wanted the joint practices to be the thing but it’s clearly not working.
-
Your bad takes don’t hurt my feelings. I feel sorry for you lashing out instead of just taking an L and moving on.
-
CJ Stroud was pretty terrible in preseason. Justin Fields was pretty good. The Bears defense in preseason got tons of sacks. So yes, it’s just preseason still applies.
-
CJ Stroud has the second most yards for a rookie QB ever through three games only behind Cam Newton who’s rookie season started with the lockout so veterans weren’t getting together like a normal offseason. CJ Stroud now has the most passes to start his career by an NFL rookie without throwing an interception.
-
I love the confidence but you think rookie Bryce Young would have helped more against that crowd causing false starts than veteran Andy Dalton?
-
Especially when they have a defenses minded coach and GM who spent a ton of assets on defense only to still have the worst defense in football. If I’m Caleb I want an offensive minded coach.
-
The Bears kept Fields in anyway
-
Dalton just out on the best QB performance we have had in some time and the defend Bryce Against All Costs Crowd is mad.

Good to see the personal insults for different opinions being flung around first thing in the morning!

I mostly agree. The Chargers won today with 28 points and their leading rusher was 11 carries for 12 yards. They averaged 2 yards per carry today. Texans won averaging 3.3 a carry. It’s mostly the same line from last year but we swapped Sanders for Foreman. Could be scheme. Could be teams in week 1-2 loading the box to dare us to beat them throwing.
-
Even with his 250 yard he was 22 of 44. He hasn’t had a single game this year at 60% completions or better.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38483441/we-draft-right-guy-texans-qb-cj-stroud-makes-history One of their players implied that the best thing that happened to their franchise is winning a game last year to end the season with the #2 pick instead of #1 because they got the right guy. Oof.

And I am pretty sure we play all three of the teams in front of us.

Feel sorry for the fans. This is what the draft looks like right now:

Unfortunately we can't afford more corners.
