  1. Vernon Davis had so much more potential in the pros but I never felt like San Fran looked his way enough. Surtain did a good job against Pitts not getting beat deep but then he got him on the touchdown pass. Too much of a size and verticals difference. Pitts was 225-230 coming out of high school and got up to 235 as a Freshman. He spent the last two years around 240-245. That is, if measurements are reliable but I don’t believe Florida has been guilty of not listing a kids proper height and weight. We’ve been in trouble for plenty of other things though. I’m with you, I’ve warmed up to the idea of getting a potential great player on the first round. The only ones that give me pause are the Trey Lance and Mac Jones mocks. And with Lance I can understand picking him but I have a lot of worries about him. Just about anyone else mocked to us I’ve seen the bright side in it.
  2. Look up the Alabama game this year. He went off receiving per usual but even people in the game day thread about it commented that he wasn’t having a difficult time blocking Bamas defenders and I’d wager a chunk of them are going pro. He’s almost 250 pounds right now. He’s so gifted athletically there’s nothing in my eyes that would prevent him from hitting 260 without losing his ability to cut or jump and that added NFL weight would help him block whoever is lining up over him. Vernon Davis was an absolute freak of a man. Look at his final season in 11 games and compare that to Pitts in 7 games. Of which he left 2 of those games before halftime. So in almost half the game time he gets almost as many yards as Davis and double his TD amount. This was truly remarkable productivity out of the TE spot the likes of college football has not seen in recent memory. And this was with everyone in the world knowing Pitts was the top guy at Florida going into this season. It just didn’t matter. He beat everyone all year. We struggled mightily in the red zone during his absence.
  3. It would serve us no good to make statements like we will pay any price or that we have to have him. I don’t think this is coming from a legit source.
  4. I get it. But that’s how you miss out on great players.
  5. You shouldn’t punish the prospect for previous prospects contributions. That line of thinking passes up prospects like Herbert because other Oregon QBs have sucked in the pros. Look at Kyle Pitts film and numbers and compare them to any recent TE. None of them have come close to matching his production. He played SEC only competition this year and scored a td in all but two games. In those two games he had 5 catches for 81 yards and 7 catches for 128. He had major contributions in every single game he played. There hasn’t been a first round tight end in recent memory who had the production that he has had this year.
  6. He does block. He got a bad wrap as a Sophmore because we didn’t ask him to block. He blocked dudes 1on1 with no problems this year. He looked great blocking against Bama.
  7. I know I’m in the minority but I believe that Minshew can win here. As for Shough, I don’t like that he is transferring when he could start for Oregon.
  8. I’d take Fields over Lance and be happy. If we draft Lance we are keeping Teddy around for the duration of his three years.
  9. I’m with you. Had a chuckle. It was silly.
  10. I agree with you that there’s a difference but I think I see the players on the team wearing stuff like this all the time as well. Might not be a brand issue specific to one brand.
  11. Samuel reminds me of Randle El. Looks good in spurts but make him a true 1 or 2 and it’s not a role he’s built for.
  12. Does that change anything I wrote? He’d be on the field more if he was a legit #2. He’s sometimes the 2 and sometimes the 3. If the team believed he was a 1 he’d be out there. Put him on another team where he has to be the legit #2 guy by himself again and his efficiency likely tanks. Four years in and his best season is 150 receiving yards shy of 1k. Curtis has had 4 games in four seasons of football breaking 90 yards receiving. That’s not #1 receiver stats any way you slice it. This was his breakout year. We got it. Let him walk and go somewhere else where he can make money.
  13. He’s on Moore or he’s on Robbie but most times it’s Moore. And it’s rarely Samuel. You don’t waste your top DB on a guy who averages 500 receiving yards a year compared to a guy who averages 1k.
  14. You don’t see verifiable data on it because the coaches know not to match Curtis against other teams top guy. It’s like JuJu feasting when he had better receivers around him to let him match up against 2s and 3s he looked great. Make him the 1? Doesn’t look so hot. If the money is going to make you choose Curtis or DJ the smart money is on DJ. Id rather be the Steelers letting Randle El walk away than pay him Washington money.
  15. Because Moore also does his work against the other teams top DB and has produced 2 great years. Samuel matches up against the #2 or #3 DB on most plays. It’s easier for him. Switch Moore and Samuel and I bet DJ still puts up great numbers and Samuel drops being defended against by superior players.
  16. It is when it’s Trevor Lawrence or Andrew Luck. You also don’t need a board to tell you he’s the #1 overall pick and the Jaguars are taking him.
  17. If you aren’t the #1 overall pick team… then you SHOULDNT EVEN HAVE LAWRENCE ON YOUR BOARD.
  18. The only TE I *want* in this class is Pitts but that’s not happening.
