  1. I just feel like Ron didn’t coach up enough players and had no clue what to do on offense other than let Cam play hero ball. He got a dope win last night but he’s basically had a significant losing record here and in Washington.
  2. Over the past four weeks… Justin Fields has quarterbacked The Bears to the best offensive PPG in football. Even against top defenses like Dallas.
  3. That TD pass to Mooney was a thing of beauty. Hell, the incomplete pass to end the game against the Commanders was a terrific throw. Mooney just bobbled it. Then again, the pass on the run to ESB on 4th down a game ago was a perfect ball and dude just dropped it. Elite level throw but his guy just dropped it. Which happens. But if you’re only seeing highlight runs maybe it’s because he’s had two 60+ yard runs in the past two weeks and there are hall of fame level running backs that have never had two 60+ yard runs. So people are impressed with his rushing ability.
  4. Great for him. Those are terrific numbers. Is this supposed to negate Fields clearly trending up?
  5. It’s lacking context. Again, Fields has done the bulk of this damage the last three games. The arrow is majorly pointing UP. And despite that he’s close to being in the top 10.
  6. 18th to 23rd in drops for the year for total drops or for drop percent? Fields is currently tied for 13th in the NFL for touchdown PASSES.
  7. I wouldn’t bench Hurts but it’s nice to have Fields as a backup. But yeah, Fields has been the #1 Fantasy QB the last five weeks which is insane. I finally had to start starting him two weeks ago.
  8. Well I think that’s part of it: Identify your guy and go get him. If you need to use your later round draft capital or future drafts a you do it if you believe in a guy. This franchise has been starved of consistently great QB play and we have been missing that excitement of having an electric QB since 2015 Cam, really. And before that there wasn’t one folks got super excited about. If we look at root causes for 30 years of never having back to back winning seasons it’s because of inconsistent QB play for the most part. Tepper can turn how the fans views him and how the league views us by going and getting our guy. I don’t believe we have anymore years to wait and wait for a top flight round 1 QB. If we are picking in the top 10 we have our options. If we feel we can trade back and still get our guy, cool. But we can’t miss and trade back and then have the QB get taken before we pick again. I do believe this franchise would be held in higher regard and in better shape going into next year had we drafted Fields or even Mac Jones. Draft and develop. No more burn out retreads.
  9. To me we have to draft a top ranked QB and then we can figure out the rest of the draft.
  10. I think Justin Fields might have a next level work ethic. I think that helps with his shortcomings. And yes, he has developed as a passer. Listen to folks like Dilfer, JTO, and even Chris Simms who didn’t believe Fields was a first round talent last year. Simms has acknowledged Fields has started reading the field, and he shortened his throwing motion and has made tremendous strides. I have been following Fields since he was in QB1 on Netflix and every account I’ve ever found, even when he got to Chicago, has been that he’s a first in, last out guy who takes criticism seriously. He’s a leader. He has the drive to see how something currently isn’t working and then he works to fix it. I think a lot of guys work hard during practice. Fields, regularly is there before everyone and stays late working with the receivers after practice. He even did this for Claypool to get him up to speed and that continued last week. I think Fields is a guy who was going to find a way to succeed wherever he was.
  11. I am certain the Eagles were very happy with the Wentz pick. They won a Super Bowl. And the Browns were probably happy with the Baker pick as he helped them change the culture and get to the playoffs for the first time in forever. At this point here I’d settle for the first guy to lead us to back to back winning record seasons. Since we haven’t done that yet.
  12. From what I remember of Penix is he’s been injury prone and missed time each of the last four college seasons with injuries. He’s never started every game. The size might be a concern for Young but he’s proven to be far more durable than Penix Jr who is in his fifth year of college ball and this is his first time making it to 20 touchdowns and this is the most games he’s played in a season. But the injury past has shown he’s been hurt and missed games every single season but this one so far.
  13. He’s developed despite Nagy. I think the drive and work ethic with him would have outweighed the stupidity.
  14. Levis is a less explosive Fields but I can see why he would respect that talent. But then it confuses me more for him to be on the Levis train and so easily dismiss Fields.
  15. I literally watch every single play of the Bears last year and this year.
  16. Correct. Fields IS their offense currently. A few changes to that and then the guys that are there are in much better positions to excel in the offense and take pressure off of him and he won’t need to run anywhere near as much. Look at the past four games… he’s superheroing the team to 30 points a game. One more lineman to the already young core they have, and one true #1 WR and that’s a very good looking offense.
  17. If a QB was as young as he is, playing with the talent he is and thrown 7 TDs in his last three games I’d absolutely defend him.
  18. You say horrid but he’s not just getting rushing touchdowns. He’s getting passing touchdowns as well. Putting the ball in the end zone is the most important goal for an offense and he’s been on fire lately. Scoring both on the ground and in the air. Passing touchdown in 6 straight games. 7 passing touchdowns in the last 3. After a rough start to the year he’s borderline top 15 in touchdown passes for the season and top 15 for rushing TDs.
  19. Do note he followed the pick 6 the following drive was a 3 yard run by Monty, 6 yard completion and then this 60+ yard td run. And if him not being “a good qb” is resulting in three game stretches of 11 TDS and 1 pick then the NFL is in trouble if he continues to trend upwards.
  20. Bears are in position to draft Johnson from TCU to be the 1, move Mooney to 2 and Claypool to 3. That’s a potentially dangerous receiving core. Factor in it seems like Kmet is finally emerging and the Bears have a great run game. They just need to draft an offensive lineman in the second, Then they have the most money in football to bring in free agent defensive players. They are in a good spot going forward. I want that feeling here. We need to draft a QB.
  21. Claypool is a #2 WR. Mooney is a #2. They don’t have a number 1 but outside of them they have a few #4s. So the trade made sense to help Fields out. Apologies. I thought your friend was suggesting that the fandom was ready to move on from Fields and I didn’t realize it was just his personal take.
