If you want to get the #1 pick from the Bears, what's your move?
Varking replied to EgoDogg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Chicago would be willing to take Burns or Moore and two firsts for the #1 pick. -
So which QB do we think will be available at #9?

The best QB from the previous draft was Mac Jones. That completely changed in year two. Let’s not be quick to anoint Purdy. -

Under No Circumstances Should We Trade a Haul for a QB/Pick
Varking replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why would anyone want Carr? He throws to Waller, Renfrow, Adams and hands off to Jacobs and still couldn’t dominate. -
Better blocker. He’ll do less receiving at least year one. The guys that match up against him in the pros aren’t going to be at the massive disadvantage these college kids are.
-
He’s hurt so he’s playing sparingly.

You can put Richardson in for red zone right away to develop him. Make 1-2 reads and run because of the threat of his legs. If he shows he can handle it you can give him more. I think he’s going to surprise folks in the pros.

Everyone wants them to pick up Carter but if you get Payne, Hargraves and draft Anderson… that’s a lot of getting after the passer when the Bears only had 20 sacks this season. Folks here love to rip Burns but Burns almost kept up with the Chicago Bears as a team. We had 35 and our pass rush was bad. They were the worst in the NFL. Hargraves and Payne would just need to do what they did this year to our produce the whole roster. Adding Anderson to that would be really sick. So I think a lot will depend on free agency. If you can snag Yannick too you are looking at 40 sacks from your front 4. I wanted Chicago last year to grab Pickens but they went for Brisker who turned out good. They should go for Johnston in a trade back if they can swing it. They need a true 1. He has the potential.

Just looked at that 8 page thread and it’s mostly 3 folks saying they would trade Fields for 2-3 firsts and keep going with rookies on 5 year deals until the rest of he team is better, and the others arguing over if they should be banned or not. This is hardly anyway to get a consensus. The one thing they seem to want more than anything is to get more picks, including trading down. Also, that cite is a cesspool and often times is much worse than our free speech area here, which is why I stopped visiting there. -

Is that the best stretch of Winston’s career? Is that better than any QB we have had since 2015 Cam Newton? Yes to both. -

Justin Fields hasn’t shown progress? Final 8 games of 2022: 116 of 182 passing for 63.7% completion rate. 1194 passing, 779 rushing = 1973 yards 18 touchdowns and 5 INTs Per game average: 63.7% Completions 246 Yard of Offense 2.25 touchdowns .625 interceptions Compare it to the first 7 or all of last year. And this is in a new offense with a new coach and Mooney being his only reliable weapon who is a glorified number 2. -

They also want to claim he “lead” them to the #1 overall pick as if they didn’t trade their entire defense away in order to flush the roster. Even when the Bears were putting up 30 points a game they still lost because the defense was giving up 35 a game. -

Why would they tell you that? It would hurt the trade value. The Bears aren’t drafting a QB at 1. -
they will if they win free agency with Hargraves and Payne. Would make that trade back much easier to swallow.
-
As much as folks like to throw around one read as a label for QBs that’s what Hooker was this year.
-
If you think we don’t need a QB you are nuts.

Beating the Saints cost us 1 draft slot after all
Varking replied to Peon Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
For the record we missed Justin Herbert by one draft slot a couple years ago due to a pointless win at the end of the season.
