1/17 Athletic/Brugler Mock: Panthers Trade Up
Varking replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jags took Lawrence and Etienne early in the same draft. Not the end of the world taking JG but there’s going to be so many cheaper RBs with proven success in the market. I’d prefer a WR in round 2 -
1/17 Athletic/Brugler Mock: Panthers Trade Up

I’d take this -
My heart is in my current department at work. I really love coming to work every day and be around the guys in my department. However, I’ve been offered a new role in the company worth 25k a more a year and I was already making good money. I’ve determined I’ll interview. It’s a significant chunk of money to pass up and maybe the new job will become where my hearts at.

I think they were gunning just for two seasons if I recall correctly.

Glad you enjoyed it! Very intense first episode

I think the Colts want Levis. Houston probably goes Young. I could see the Raiders picking Stroud and he is from the west, but I could also see the Raiders being the Raiders and skipping Stroud to get to Richardson.

It’s a tough call but folks are seemingly digging it.

Nothing football related will make me quit the team. Maybe I’d quit posting here to not deal with certain conversations. I love the NFL too much to not watch, either. So if I had to pick another team I’d find some other bad franchise to follow so I don’t feel like I’m bandwagon riding. My dads a Steelers fan and my moms an Eagles fan. They are both good right now so I’d have to rule them out.

If he falls I’d love it. If not I’d like to move up and snag him. He’s my QB1 in this class.

Welcome to Carolina

I was told by OSU fans on two pages that the QBs who are projected to go high at OSU declare on the final day. I didn’t bother trying to look up when Fields declared.
-
We started the same, I haven’t played any of the games, but I really enjoyed it.

His family is a very religious family. He has until 4 PM today to declare. Folks are saying most OSU players typically declare on the final day and it’s a school thing.

It’s about to air in a minute and it’s considered the best video game adaption. Hopefully it’s good!

Or the kid is getting promised something silly like money for this year and next year or something like that if he returns. Then he can stack that with his next years NFL money. Or he’s pulling a Luck and doesn’t want to go to Texas or Indy.

San Fran could have drafted 3 of them with their first rounders alone.

To be fair Ron is a good leader of men. He’s just a bad coach. How many winning seasons has he had in how many years has he coached?
-
They are divisional opponents. I wouldn’t judge either team of this performance. It’s good to see close football though.

Carson Wentz was elite before injury. When you already have the luxury of being a great team you can afford luxury picks. When you suck like the Panthers do we need to get good at specific positions. We haven’t been good at the QB spot since we scouted and drafted one in the first round. If there are four QBs in the upcoming draft that are projected to go top 10, then none of them are reaches if you move up slightly to go get one. Again Carson Wentz before injury had better passing numbers than MVP Cam Newton in 2015. And Cam had elite passing stats that year. But Wentz missed three games. Our strategy has been don’t move up, let the QBs fall to us and then we don’t pick them until mid third or later and they turn out pretty trash.

Does he? Of that list Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott were drafted by the teams they are with. The Eagles went 9-7 and made the playoffs with first rounder Carson Wentz the year before. So they were a good team already. It was their offense that held them back the next couple of years which Hurts was a part of. Dak Prescott was drafted to a team that was a perennial playoff team under Tony Romo who were only bad the year before Dak because Romo got hurt and they were 3-1 with Tony before the injury. The other guys on the list? Jimmy G was drafted in the second round and then traded for a second round pick that turned into like 7 total players including the Raiders current QB JS. Jimmy G after like six games with the 49ers was given a contract that made him the highest paid player in the NFL at the time. Not the team that drafted him. What did the Vikings give up for Kirk Cousins? They gave him a huge salary’s and the NFLs first even fully guaranteed contract. Not the team that drafted him. I could go through the rest of the list but my workout bike just got delivered. We have tried going after other teams QBs for years now and it’s not worked out. Maybe we should just draft one in the first and see if it works like the last time we did it?
