  1. I just don't get why CotF would care about the Andals, after they basically stabbed them in the back and ran them to the recesses of the continent. I get more of an "evil" feeling from them than I do the WWs tbqh.
  2. With last night's episode, I've found a new passion for trying to figure out what/who exactly the White Walkers are about. I've come to a block and I wondered what you all thought about it... So The Others (the white walkers) and their army of reanimated corpses (wights) fought against the First Men and the Children of the Forest, and were beaten (with the assistance of R'llhor's Azor Ahai)... The CotF helped build The Wall after, to hopefully keep the White Walkers from coming back... Later, the Children of the Forest pretty much are pushed back and hunted down by the Andals (the Second Men? lol.) They disappear. Now fast forward to where we are at at the end of ADWD. Bran has been sucked in by the Children of the Forest, led there by an apparent wight, and is in a cave that wights are surrounding and trying to get into. The White Walkers have obviously resurfaced north of the Wall, and are indeed employing wights in their ranks. So, where does that leave Coldhands? Is he a wight? Is he some other sort of creature? Are Bran and the Bloodraven, and the Children of the Forest, actually still in opposition to the White Walkers? What are the motives for the Children of the Forest to actually be pulling Bran to them? Are they anticipating working with Dany or the inhabitants of Westeros to battle the White Walkers? This would make them "good guys" wouldn't it? So how come the place and stuff going on there has an evil feeling to it? Or, Could the CotF and the White Walkers actually be working towards the same goal of just wiping the continent clean? That doesn't explain the wights knocking at the cave door, though... unless they are just an assembling army...
  3. I'm currently reading The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch... Only about 60 pages in but I'm digging it so far... GRRM has a blurb on the cover praising it, and I've heard good reviews of it...
  4. so you mean you and Panthro didn't know that Ned Stark actually warged into a bird and then into zombie Gregor Clegane yet?
  5. I have to read anything that comes out... If anything, it'll make TWOW go faster when it actually comes out, and I hope to get some kinda insight as to what is on the horizon...
  6. Oh I forgot to mention... If you have the World of Ice and Fire app, there is a Tyrion chapter on there that I dunno if it was released elsewhere... It's about the battle in Mereen starting... http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2014/03/new-the-winds-of-winter-tyrion-chapter-released.html
  7. what about the theory that Bran is in a coma and all this story is his dream to teach him a lesson about listening to his mother?
  8. Good question... I think you're referring to The Alchemist? I'd love to hear more about the intentions of The Many Faced God and The Drowned God. It's pretty obvious that the Seven are irrelevant at this point.
  9. The question the Jojen paste theory raises for me is, why would Jojen allow himself and his sister to be tools for TGO/3EC knowing it meant their own deaths? That's a pretty big sacrifice, unless there is some kind of magic involved. Where the hell is Howland and why does he not care what his kids are up to? I always put more merit in the theory that Jojen WAS Howland. Meera could even be Jon's twin sister via Lyanna? I think I read that theory somewhere too. But, I have to admit the Jojen paste theory is a new one for me too, and it does make a lot of sense on some levels.
  10. Gotta admit... that one is a pretty epic one that I hadn't read up until you posted it... Could totally be true...
  11. I'm torn, though... because you don't really know who to pull for... In one hand, I'm with the CotF and Bran... and to some extent then, the White Walkers... On the other hand, who doesn't like dragons? What if Jon is indeed the chosen member of the Red God's army? Who doesn't like Jon? I see it as ultimately a battle between nature and mankind... Nature is represented by The Great Other... Mankind by R'hllor... By the very nature of mankind, I suppose they deserve to be overtaken by long winters and monsters... but then again, there are good people out there who will be casualties of this war that was started by their ancestors... I think Martin is setting us up to be invested in both sides and to want both sides to win, which will ultimately lead to something unexpected happening like some sort of middleground... For all I know, TGO could very well be manipulating Dany as well, and will use R'hllor itself to melt down the wall and allow his army to pass... Maybe Bran and Dany join forces and kill everyone and start over? IDK at this point what the end game will be other than ice meeting fire and there being a lot of people that die.
