On this Fozzy vs. Wegher argument... I will post this with the shame it demands, but the devil in the back of my head last night offered up the thought of us cutting/trading Stewart and rolling with Artis-Payne, Fozzy, Todman, and Wegher... I could see that happening... I wouldn't think it'd be very smart. But one could make an argument, no matter how small it is perceived, that there are benefits to getting rid of Stewart. I love the dude and want him to be a Panther, but there always remains a chance that Gettleman could pull something like that.

Well, first off, nobody knows anything about where Howland Reed has been this whole time, and the only evidence we have that he even exists is history and him sending his "kids" to aid Bran. With he and Ned being such good friends in the past, one would think that he'd have done something to aid in the North's cause during the War of Five Kings, or anything at all to show up other than sending the aforementioned kids. There are lots of theories about Howland Reed that I have read over the years... ranging from him being a warg, a greenseer himself, Jojen being Howland, etc. etc. etc. But the one that makes the most sense to me, if you pair the books with the show, is that the High Sparrow that kind of mysteriously waltzes into Kings Landing and takes some control back is none other than the Crannogman himself. https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/1yljs8/spoilers_all_high_septon_tinfoil_theory That link was a year ago, but some of the points they hit on were ones I was picking up on and hinting at when I made that post in 2012. If Howland = High Sparrow/Septon, then he alone could attest to the legitimacy of Jon's (or Meera's, if she is a twin) claim and parentage, should they ever find their way to King's Landing...

I could see it happening... Ned was warden of the North and not too far removed from being in consideration for the Iron Throne himself... He knew that the minute potential existed for Jon to have a legitimate claim to the throne should something ever happen to Robert, given his royal blood by way of the Targaryens before Baratheon rule, and his Stark blood and the historical implications of it. Ned had three sons already to carry on any legacies he might have, but he saw the potential for needing access to an ace up his sleeve should something happen to Robb, Bran, or Rickon. Look at what happened to Ned's brother and father at the hands of the previous king. Wars always happened. People always fought over the throne. They knew what lurked in the north, above the wall. He needed a fallback plan to keep order and honor in the North. I think he took Jon for the exact reasons you think he didn't. He knew how the world was, and felt it better to raise Jon as his own, and teach him about honor and ruling alongside your people instead of over them. Think about how Jon acts at the wall, becoming LC and all that. How many times have we seen him turn down things that would benefit only him over his black brethren? Howland couldn't have those kinds of lessons to teach out in the swamps...

GDI just found out that Scott Lynch's next book has been pushed back to a 2016 date. I've been saving a Barnes and Noble gift card for that thing lol. Currently, among a couple other things, I have just started reading the third book of Abercrombie's First Law trilogy. The first one finally picked up a bit, and the second one was solid. Now I am wondering what my best option is to burn that B&N card on sometime this fall... Any strong recommendations? I lean more towards fantasy than sci-fi, but appreciate either... I like dystopian stuff too.

thus the term "flaming" ?

okay I don't get people that shower in the morning... Do you really go to bed with a day's worth of stank and oils on your body? Do you give it a quick go with a whore bath? Do you wash your sheets like twice a week?

This is a very admirable quality and somewhat Thoreau-esque. Congrats on that.

This. It reminds me that I also can't simply walk by a picture or something that is hung on the wall crooked. I have to stop and level it out.

Ouch! As an update, my new board arrived yesterday. I hooked it up and it programmed the receivers. Job complete, and it cost me @ $45. GL with your chains, Salty... I hate to hear your door is broke now. It's a PITA doing workarounds until you can get it repaired.

JJ Watt Obliterates fan at Zac Brown Band Concert
Bronn replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
The bigger question is why is Zac Brown's band playing a RHCP bassline? -
Everything works fine, minus the receiver. The door now functions as normal via the wall switch. The only thing that doesn't work is the receiver.
-
I went there too, lol... Totally easier than taking things apart... Both were good. The board should be in today, so I will know if it was the problem.

I only learned it because I am trying the DIY repair method lol... basically, this: It is what reads the signal your visor clip opener device, or Homelink system, is sending out to open up your garage door when you pull into your driveway. When I opened the powerhead up it was surprising how not-so-complex it was. It has a main circuit board, a motor, this receiver board, a power supply, and a capacitor. I just hope that my theory that it is this one board is correct. It should take like 2 minutes to install once it arrives. There is a plug to connect it to the powerhead, and screw to hold it into place.

Anyone had much experience working with garage doors? The powerhead on our unit was acting up earlier in the week. Turns out, I needed to reset the limits for some reason. In the process, I got the motor too hot and it cut power to the whole unit (wall switch and threshold safety beam) until I let it cool down a while. Also in the process of removing the back panel to inspect for potential issues, I think I damaged the MHz receiver board. I found a small component that seemed like it had one of it's posts pulled out of the board. I even tried to reattach, but I am still having the below issue. Basically, my wife's Homelink wouldn't reprogram. Then I found out our visor clips wouldn't program. Per instructions on YouTube and the web, I've cleared the receiver's memory by holding down the "Learn" button for a while. But I just couldn't get it to then recognize any of our transmitters. The "Learn" button and the LED seem to be working fine, it just isn't learning the transmissions of our devices. I've ordered a replacement receiver board. I hope that is all it takes to get it working again. Meanwhile, our wall switch is operating the door fine. We're just having to pull the vehicle out, go in and close the door via wall switch inside the garage, and then go back out to the vehicle through the front door of the house. The door drive is a Genie Pro Screw Drive and is about 12 years old. But I would rather spend $44 on this board, if it fixes it, than $200 plus for a new powerhead/operator. Anyone with any experience with these doors or a similar issue? Thanks!

Ha! Every time I leave a tip I round up for a whole dollar total. I feel it is being extra generous, and I like zeros in the cents slot.

ha! we save our heels and throw them out to the birds...

I honestly don't know where to begin... I'm almost OCD on some things... As mentioned earlier by others of you: I have to pump gas to an even dollar amount I like to face the most people in a sit down restaurant. I turn all my cash the same way and it has to be in denominational order. I throw out the end pieces of loaf bread. Others: Toilet paper goes over the top of the roll, not under the bottom of it. If I get a plate of food to go or at a gathering, I don't like for the food items to mix or even touch each other. If I am walking down a seamed or sectioned walkway, I always try to some how place my steps in the same general area of each section, so that I don't step on a seam. I keep a $1 coin in my wallet so that I will never be truly broke. I have an obsession with knowing the general cardinal direction I am facing/traveling. I can't watch anything nowadays without saying "Oh that's _______ from _________" or "I've seen him/her in something else" and having to immediately pull up the IMDB app on my phone to confirm.

I kept waiting for his eyes to change and then my hopes crumbled when it went to black... Curse you, internets!!!
