  1. I took it as he was LC by default when he went to parley with Mance. I just expect Stannis to make it official. I could see them trying to make Janos Slynt a bigger deal in play for LC, but maybe that's one of the reasons they left Sam and Gilly there during the attack to witness his cowardice.
  2. I think it will be at the end of next season. There isn't a whole lot left at the wall that we know about besides some politics and some burnt offerings, and the sending away of Sam/Gilly. I suppose they could cut back on it a bit to exclude the last part of ADWD, but I think Jon/Dany are the focus of the books and ultimately the show.
  3. Speculation is that they are doing research on dragons. There is one book mentioned (I think by Tyrion?) that there are only two known copies of about dragons. One is at the Citadel. Why they would care about dragons is debateable. Some think Euron paid a FM off with a dragon egg to kill Balon. I suppose a dragon would be the ultimate weapon of the god of death, but I really don't think they'd take an interest in it. Another theory is that he's there for a hit on someone. I don't really know.
  4. FWIW the whole Beric/Thoros stuff could have just been for preparing folks for what happens with Jon Snow...
  5. I don't think it's set in stone yet. There was also a blurb that it was ultimately up to Dan and D.B. and I took it, at this point, that there would still be a chance even if there didn't appear to be one. It could also be some epic trolling. That said, if they've found out from GRRM that LS is basically a go-nowhere character down the road that is ultimately unimportant to the story, then I figure they will indeed leave her out. I mean really, all us book readers know at this point is that she hung some Freys and Brienne and Pod. They could have Pod killed off on the show and have something else happen to guide Brienne's storyline. I won't get as worked up over a zombie Cat getting excluded as I will about Euron or Victarion. I think Arya is going to be the character (in the books and in the show) that gets the dark retribution that UnCat seems to placate.
  6. Euron = a faceless man? That would make it a lot more interesting and could even lend more to D=E. IIRC Euron is big into exploring and looting the entire world, so maybe some talents picked up in Braavos might come in handy.
  7. http://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/253zbx/is_daario_reallyspoilers_adwd/ He is away more than he is with her, it seems. Lots of interesting coincidences going on there, if nothing else. Also, I now believe Euron murdered Balon.
  8. Another casting leak seems to indicate that yours truly also heads to Dorne or at least runs into the sand snakes somewhere... They have a friendly spar (with Obara I think,) and ultimately it appears Bronn is wounded a little and maybe even lost the duel... It also seems that one sand snake involved (Tyene IIRC, not gonna look it up) seduces Bronn after/during the scene... Needless to say, Bronn is a boss... Also, Jaime's visit to Dorne seems to be a little on the covert side, as the sand snakes are talking about hearing of him reportedly being smuggled into the city... Of course, none of this could make it to the show, but it is interesting... Some recent rumors seem to indicate that a location has been picked out by the set teams that would be perfect for a Kingsmoot filming... I hope that bodes well for the Greyjoy uncles being cast.
  9. Also, I don't know if anyone has pointed it out, but GRRM can't enter this thread... since he hasn't finished all the books... Badump-tshhh
  10. I've totally missed this, but the theory caught up with me this morning... Daario = Euron??!?!?!? I've read lots of convincing points this morning, including GRRM confirming that there was "more than there seemed with Daario" and it might explain why Euron hasn't been cast on the show at this point. I'd always heard the theories that Daario = Benjen, and even Daario = Jaqen somehow... But this actually seems totally plausible...
  11. They might take Brienne and Pod on the Cracklaw Point arc or something similar, since they kinda skipped over it this season... Just to give them something to do... I wonder if they are ever going to bring the Blackfish or Edmure back into the show. I mean, we haven't even seen them post RW. There's like zero going on in the Riverlands, and now with the Jaime rumors, who knows what's going to happen there...
  12. some of the casting leak stuff seems to indicate that Jaime is heading to Dorne... Not sure what that could mean, unless he's accompanying Ellaria Sand and hand delivering "Gregor's skull" and Oberyn's body... hoping to smooth over obvious tensions between Sunspear and King's Landing, and doing a wellfare check on Myrcella...
  13. Season 5: They've already put out casting calls for some Dornish folk, and some other characters I see as kinda minor: Doran Martell Trystane Martell Areo Hotah Obara, Nymeria, and Tyrene Sand Varamyr Sixskins High Sparrow Septa Unella Maggy the Frog Lollys Stokeworth Yezzan The Waif a young Cersei (flashback!) Obviously, the highest of these would seemingly be second tier characters... I suspect that the major characters they'll be casting will be: Victarion Greyjoy Euron Greyjoy Arianne Martell Some more minors: Aeron Damphair (if they make him a major character... he might even be cut) Griff Aegon The Kindly Man Quentyn Martell
  14. I haven't. I almost bought The Blade Itself once on a whim... but the trilogy did find its way on my list. I will get to it eventually. Right now I'm reading 3 books, lol. Perdido Street Station by China Mieville (on recommendation from a friend) Shift by Hugh Howey (actually the second book in the series, a prequel to the first, but I have read Wool and Dust so I am kinda backtracking with this one) 1984 by George Orwell (never read it back in the day but figure I need to knock out some classics)
  15. I've thought about it. But, I saw that it is part 1 of 10. I don't know that I can get into another series that is that long, lol. If you have read it or plan to, let me know how it is and I might just eventually get to it.
  16. Totally excited. I HOPE it is on a premium cable network to do it justice. There aren't too many adult situations, I suppose... well, besides this whole section of one book so far, but I think it is in the vein of GOT that it would be better served somewhere that can take that kinda time with it.
  17. This bomb ass Meshuggah-esque track I just made... https://soundcloud.com/therealjsquared/djentleman
  18. haha he does do a lot of charity stuff and does seem to stay extremely grounded though... I'm sure he feels the pressure, but I think his early successes have made him a popular target for other people to seek out for side work...I don't envy someone like that, having to balance so much with a private life too...
  19. yeah I had seen that... apparently a tale of Auri... I will probably snag it when it comes out. Rothfuss' prose is up there with Martin's in my book, and I really enjoy his storytelling. Like Martin, though, he needs to focus on the next book in his series lol...
  20. yeah I figure that Westeros, particularly the North, is kinda near a polar region of the ASOIAF planet, while Essos is more close to equatorial... Sure, Dorne is likely equatorial too, but I think Westeros has a tilting to it that the maps don't really do much justice to...
  21. I'm not too well versed still, besides some of the more popular choices I have found online. I'm not sure what all you've read either... Maybe Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erickson? It's the first book in the Malazan series, and the only one I've read so far... It has a lot of people to keep up with, kinda like the ASOIAF stuff, and has some good dark elements. It has a little more magic than ASOIAF so I dunno if that is a turnoff for you... It took me a while to get into it but I think I blew through from the middle to the end. I can't recommend Patrick Rothfuss' books enough... There are some darker things in there too, and I like his take on magic (he likens it more to something like physics alteration)... Kvothe (the main character) is a younger guy for most of the story, but he goes through some very adult situations (some bow chicka wow wow even)... The Lies of Locke Lamora was good as poo too... and I would compare that one and Rothfuss' to GRRM as far as storytelling goes...
  22. Just finished this book. Highly recommended! Can't wait to start the next book by Lynch.
