Call the Final Scene - Game of Thrones: Season 5 (Spoilers)
Bronn replied to Kettle's topic in Huddle Lounge
I think we discussed it briefly in the book thread... It could be that they are the good guys, and that R'hllor's agents are the bad... I mean, in the ASOIAF world there is lots of grey areas... Sometimes I feel like the world needs the WWs to come and cleanse it.... -

Huge spoiler... Part may be photoshopped, but I've seen an apparent untouched one... -

Out of what we know, yes... It could be what comes after the attack... (ie. eyes opening)... What if they aren't blue eyes, but eyes of fire? -

They might establish Kevan's presence in assisting Tommen's rule with Cersei locked up, and have Varys show back up as he does in the Epilogue of ADWD. I could see them ending with that. Right now though, I'd guess they will use FTW as the ending. They might set it up with a Gregorstein scene in which Qyburn displays his own resurrection skills earlier in the episode... The biggest question I have is WHO EXACTLY WILL BRING JON BACK?!?!?!? Mel isn't there... Do some people ride south with Jon and betray him on the road, nearer to Stannis' camp? It looks to me like they are also setting up a Brienne/Oathkeeper scene between her and Stannis... -
I can't recommend Scott Lynch enough if you enjoyed Rothfuss and GRRM. The 4th book in Lynch's series is supposed to come out sometime this year.

I believe Trant was sent with Mace Tyrell on the show to speak with the Iron Bank. -

I'm thinking the cliffhanger will be something that book readers don't know yet. I'm pretty sure Dany's scene, Arya killing Meryn Trant, and maybe even "For the watch" happens in E9, and that E10 will be almost completely new material and have something totally crazy happen. They usually try to do major things like that in E9 from past history. If I had to guess, it'd be something involving Sansa in Winterfell. It could also be them caving in and adding Lady Stoneheart. -
FYI casting calls, some of them, are out for Season 6... The most interesting and prominent character sounds like Victarion or Euron... That is a good sign. There are others that sound like Samwell's family... so that is rather interesting of note... Maybe the Tarly's end up being bigger players in the books than they have been at this point...

I'm an old crotchety curmudgeon at the ripe old age of 34. You folks with your newfangled technologies... BLAH! But srsly... I just like being able to hold the book in my hand and flip the pages. Plus, whenever I get to the task of putting up a bookshelf, it'll look more impressive when I line up all the physical pages of text that I have read. And, I'm scared if I had an e-book I would drop it in the pooper. FWIW, I still listen to CDs more than playing music on my old iPod or on my phone.

My wife got it for me a couple Xmas's ago, I think... I feel like she ordered it from B&N or online somewhere. I almost think I like the story a little more than Wool. Just be sure to check it out if you do get the chance. I've got a B&N gift card from this past Xmas that I am struggling to not spend before Lynch's next one

did you ever check out Howey's Sand Omnibus?

Thanks Kurb! Just to bump this thread... I finally read Rothfuss' The Slow Regard For Silent Things. Great, cute book and a fast read. Currently reading Abercrombie's First Law trilogy and struggling through the first book. The Scar that I mentioned earlier, by China Mieville ended up being really good. Check it out if you like sci-fi/seafaring tales... I'm eagerly anticipating Scott Lynch's 4th book in the Gentleman Bastard series. I think it is set for September release.

I had to dig this up... I'm STRUGGLING to get through book 1... For some reason I just am pretty disinterested in the characters at this point... I'm about 350 or so pages in but it has taken a couple months to get that far. I don't know if it is because my time to read has been so limited and sporadic, but man... I hope it picks up soon. I'm more interested, at this point, in Bethod's champion that we got a limited glimpse of, and the chick wandering through the desert with Yulwei... But both of those characters have had maybe 20 pages between them. Please tell me it gets better... On a related note, and I think you mentioned Rothfuss in this thread and elsewhere, but I did read The Slow Regard For Silent Things earlier and the year and absolutely loved it. It's no Kvothe stuff, but it is really good for what it is... Anyway... back to GoT in this thread

In twenty years, what's your favorite win to date?
Bronn replied to bigskypanthersguy's topic in Carolina Panthers
In person - Panthers/Jags 2003 - Jake took over for Peete at halftime, and got us the big W. The Cardiac Cats were born, and the special season had just begun On TV - probably double OT Rams game later that season -
How many true, lifelong Panthers fans are actually out there?
Bronn replied to SIGCHI222's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was a Cowboys fan for a while as a kid... They were always in the big games, so I guess I latched on... It would probably be the equivalent of a kid from Arkansas becoming a Patriots or Seahawks fan today... Then the Panthers were announced... I was hooked... I have an old Xmas VHS home movie of me and all of my 13 year old nerddom (1993) rocking a Panthers sweatshirt before we even fielded a team... I got on a bus in Durham, by myself (well, mom took me to the bus stop because she didn't want me to drive to or from Durham,) @ 16 (1997, before my 17th birthday in December) to catch my first ever game in person... It was the preseason game vs. Denver where Collins got his jaw broke... I recorded every game on VHS as I watched it, so that I could go back later in the week to watch it over and over. I still have most of the 95, 96, 97, and 98 seasons, among others, on VHS... lol I've been to countless games (although not enough recently,) spent countless time and energy dealing with Panthers stuff, owned countless items of memorabilia, etc. No, I am too old to be a LIFELONG fan... but I have been a fan since the beginning. Hopefully I have been redeemed of my Cowboys years.
