  1. Why would Christopher Allen still be available in the 7th? Was his foot injury that bad? His film looks great Here’s just one trade back This is what it might look like if they have confidence in Christensen at LT and Fitterer gets trade happy
  2. Deficit spending baby. Fitterer could become the first Keynesian GM
  3. My guess would be they go for London if they’re looking for a top WR in this class. DeVonta is small (and good!) so I bet they go for a bigger target and catch radius
  4. At least someone in this town is developing talent
  5. If you think Scott Fitterer emphatically nodding after looking at Kenny Pickett’s hands is going to boost his draft stock above Keyvon Thibodeaux’s then I don’t know what to tell you. Hell no one on this board trusts Rhule’s talent evaluation, what makes you think any legitimate scouts or GMs would?
  6. I agree, but think lots of coaches and GMs are willing to overlook that stuff when there is hype behind an “elite QB class”. When the class is looked down upon, then all of those little quirks get inflated to be fatal flaws. Ok It’s entirely possible that Cross could still be there even after the Eagles picks at 15 and 16
  7. More likely a team in the later part of the first would want to move up for a DE like Thibodeaux or OT like Ekwonu. My bet is Willis to the Seahawks at 9 is the only QB taken in the top 10. If Rhule doesn’t think other teams are buying the QB hype, then we need to raise our perceived interest in the top tier players, no matter the position, to incentivize a trade up from the mid-teens or twenties.
  8. I think @LinvilleGorge brought up a really good point in this respect. Their best chance to win was to get him out of the pocket faster since they had no skill position guys and no OLine. Go try and find UNC players in a mock draft simulator if you don’t believe me. Looking like they’ll maybe have 3 non-Howell players drafted this season and none before the 5th round: RB, OL, and LB. Howell is good, but let’s not take him at #6
  9. He’s ready to do this stuff, it sounds like
  10. My question is where the idea that Willis and Pickett are the “Top 2” came from. Willis showed the most athleticism and wow-factor, and Pickett had the best stats. But both of those dudes also have huge flaws. Seems like this is a pick your poison scenario and it depends on which poison your team/coaching staff is most immune to.
  11. UNC guy here. Here’s my perspective: Going into the CFB season I was excited that UNC had someone who would be in the Heisman conversation again. Then we came out and laid a few eggs (the VT game comes to mind) and Sam’s stock dropped and I wrote him off as unlikely to be a viable option to be a high draft pick. I was neutral, if not pretty low, on him after the season. My take on his QB play is entirely based on watching analysis of him from different YouTube sources (none affiliated with UNC and no “highlight” videos). Now, the only QB who I think could be a more capable NFL starter is Corral. Looking at his film, Willis will have some fun highlight plays but he’s not going to out-athlete most guys like he did in college. Maybe he picks up the ability to progress through full-field reads and learns to throw the ball away. If he draft him, I sure hope he does. If it were up to me, I would try and trade back, prioritize LT, and then try to ride with either Corral or Howell.
  12. With high talent players around them, Howell and Corral are the two best QBs in this draft - playmakers who make the guys around them better and put them in position to succeed. With low-talent players, Willis is the best; he can make incredible plays out of nothing. Pickett is middle of the pack in either case, but he and Corral are the best at executing to a scheme. All 4 of these dudes are above average-to-good scramblers and they all have good enough arms to make the necessary throws to start in the NFL. None of them are sure things so let’s maximize value for the team and not reach on one at 6. Will definitely be interesting to see what Howell’s pro day does in terms of his media profile leading up to the draft.
  13. Ideal trade back targets imo are Green Bay and Kansas City. With two picks in the late 20s we could go LT and QB, or LB and QB. Then in the 2nd or 3rd take a LT like Tyler Smith or Faalele, or a LB like Chenal, Christian Harris, or Troy Andersen. The way to do this though is to be okay with not getting maximum “trade value” for pick #6. Both of those teams need a WR, so they may see #6 as higher than they need to go (vs #8 or #10) to grab Wilson or London. In that case, it might be the most optimal outcome for the Panthers to accept equivalent value to the #8 pick to trade back and get more NFL-ready prospects at positions of need instead of squabbling over an extra 3rd in next year’s draft. Because even if we don’t get maximum value for #6, it’s still better return on the pick than taking Pickett or Willis, in my opinion.
  14. This is interesting. Would love to see some version of this play out
  15. I agree. Have been doing this in a lot of mocks. I think this is the best approach because in addition to Howell you can still grab a top-10 OT in this draft, or a LB depending on who is BPA in the 2nd or 3rd you pick up.
  16. Cam’s running ability also covered up a lot of his O-line’s terrible play. Even on designed runs the defense had to respect his ability to pull it out and take off. I’m not saying they were the worst line in the league (they actually punched way above their weight class in 2015 only to collapse in the SB), but they were more often below average.
  17. Say we signed Duane Brown in the next couple of days… Edit to clarify that I also picked up a 1st and 3rd for next year so that if Rhule gets canned the next regime can come in and do what they want - possibly moving up to get a better QB if Howell doesn’t pan out
