  1. As much as I would love to draft skill positions, I think we need a really unsexy draft this year. I would be ok with doubling down on OLINE in the 1st and 2nd.
  2. If Sam comes in and has a hell of a season, there is 0% chance that Brady is here next year (which really sucks for Sam ... again) Who replaces Brady? Is that guy on staff?
  3. I think this is the last draft we really have an advantage with Rhule and his college insights.. I think getting more picks in this draft makes sense. I think 2nd and 3rd rounders for us this year are like gold if we can get more. So Im into trading back.
  4. Lance falling could be the best thing for us for a trade back situation. Some of the smartest drafting teams are ones that have traded back, received extra picks and continually trade one of those away per year to gain more. Look what Miami has done with the Tonsil picks (minus their trade back up) Fit seems to be of that mindset. I think a trade back for future 1st's makes sense given the needs on the roster. We are still in a rebuild..
  5. Outside of kicker / punter or RB, what POSITION (not specific player) do you NOT want to see drafted in round 1.
  6. I would tend to agree with this. Fans and team alike need to show patience of building the team the right way as this is likely a 3-4 year rebuild to the top of the division. However I think if we draft a QB this draft then they are trying to accelerate that schedule.
  7. I dont think its as simple as some on here are making it sound. Some back up QB's (Anderson for example) have extended their careers because of their willingness to do this.. some choose not to. Really the choice is up to Teddy. Teddy will have to decide if he thinks he can be QB1 or if he wasn't to reside as a high-end back up option. If he thinks he can be QB1 then I expect he will use every advantage he has to be better than Sam including not sharing the 'trade secrets'. Worst case he gets cut, gets paid and try's to get onto another team. But honestly his best option would be to bring along Sam. Earn a reputation of being a good teammate and try to get a 10 year back up career out of the deal.. But I wouldn't blame the guy if he was an ass to Sam..
  8. To me the interesting thing is what do we do about the offensive scheme. The article said it would be an open comp. So if thats the case then its not going to be tailored to what Sam can do best. So does that actually give us the best chance of success?? Doesn't seem like it
  9. Wow thats a lot of players drafted! But all those guys would make a difference.
  10. Well if Sam becomes a top 10 QB in the league then Brady will be gone next year.
  11. would be a boring draft but exactly what we need.
  12. I like the idea of a trade back to acquire pick for next year.. the only issue with that is there are a lot of teams with a multiple 1st rounders next year.. so even if we get a 2022 1st with a trade down we likely wont have enough to move up for a top QB.. unless we naturally get there. But I think we need this to be a boring OL heavy draft. We need that before we look for a QB. We ride or die with Teddy this season.
  13. innocent or guilty I think this is exactly how it ends.. with a big pay cheque.
  14. Im not in the 'we should lose games' camp at all. I think even if the FO wants that to happen there is a team full of players fighting for bonus money and roster positions to make that happen. I would fall into the 'winning culture' group people like to bitch about.
  15. Im feel pretty blue about our prospects.. That Miami trade screwed us in a few ways. We know that by the Atlanta pick 3 QB's will be gone. To Atlanta is really in control of the draft now and given their restructure of Ryan I could see them trading down as someone tries to move up for a QB. So assuming that happens the top 4 QB's are gone. Next year Phil will have 3 1st round picks and be in a much better position to move us to get a QB that we will unless we lose out. Trading up to get a QB seems like a bad idea because we have a bad team at right now. (our O Line is terrible) so giving up that much capital for the 4th or 5th best guy seems like a bad move. I think we need to trade down, get more capital and just see how the team plays this year...
  16. IMO... Gunslinger = "meh throw it up and hope for the best!" Game Manager = plays within the structure of the offense" Isnt the entire point of football to with within structure?
  17. I think that if we draft a QB you start them day 1.. worst case you let them sit till week 4. They need actual game reps and the rookie contracts makes it far to advantageous to get them on the field early rather than waiting.
  18. Drafting Luke when we still had Beason. If I remember correctly that was a very unpopular move at the time.
  19. Honestly I dont think you retire that number.. that said I also dont think you retire Luke's.
  20. wow.. this tread should probably be moved to the Tinderbox at this point...
