Trading Back -- What It Might Look Like
CanadianCat replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
With Fitt I think thats always in play. The biggest concern I have is that if we go into this next season with Rhule knowing he is on the hot seat then he wont care for future picks and trade backs are out of the question - if anything trading up will be looked at. -
@Mr. Scottell us how you really feel.

Im glad for some perspective. yeah I remember 2010 being bad but I think the 'suck for Luck' made the season exciting to the finish.

Does anyone have Tepper’s email, not Appaloosa
CanadianCat replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, cause Im sure Tepper has just been waiting for anonyms people from the internet to advise him on how to run billion dollar organizations. -
This season is gross. But I mean so was 2010. Im trying to figure out which season was worse - without recency bias and honestly I think its this one. At least during the season we knew we were bad and could at least cheer for losses because we knew it was a strong draft class. Then at the conclusion of 2010 that was Fox's last year and we went into the new year with a new coach and the #1 overall pick. The new era of Rivera and Newton began. In 2021, it feels like we are still trying to 'build' something that is falling apart around us. To make things worse, we are in a bad draft position and very little to look forward to for next year. Feels like we are going into 2022 with a coach that is on the hot seat and hoping that he doesn't mortgage the future to save his job.

I think thats a little disingenuous. Obviously he knows football. I think his problem has been 'rebuilding' vs 'win now'. The 2 require a completely different strategy and I think he wanted to do both at the same time which is why our team has looked so out of sorts this past year.
-
I had high hopes for him when he came out. We forget that Rhule was a sought after coach and hot coaching candidate when we picked him up. I liked the message he preached about rebuilding. So along with that comes patience as to build it up, as he has before takes a few seasons. I was willing to give him 3 or 4 seasons to be playoff ready. However the issue that I see is the confusion between WIN now and rebuilding. He started doing one, then changed to the other. I HATE moving on from coaches this quick but I think at this point we do need a refresh. Rhule is not the guy.

Come one dude.. he made some good moves. He's not calling the plays..

in his presser Rhule even said that he picked him. But he did say he basically was going to roll the dice with a coach he didnt know.

Interesting nugget from Rhule’s Brady presser
CanadianCat replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
what also scares me from the pressure is that he allowed Brady to determine when he wanted to come into the office. This to me, along with how Brady seemed to pick his QB's shows, and we can see now how much that cost us. The other SHOCKER to me what when asked why he hired Brady to begin with Rhule basicially said he wanted to try something different. Rhule rolled the dice with this franchise. He delegated away the most important decisions to a 33 year old and that will fug us and cost him his NFL career. -

I wonder about a few things.. So Rhule was brought in to be a team builder. The thought always was that this was going to take a few seasons. I was cool with that. Lets do this right. But suddenly the narrative was 'we are ready to win now'. No we weren't. So why did the message change? Unfortunately the only thing I can think of is Tepper..... -
I agree with this. At the time I really thought we got a steal for Darnold. A top 5 QB for a few picks. If he would have shown anything this year it would have been a steal. I didnt like how quick they were at picking up his 5th year option but I can understand it. They clearly thought 'he was the guy' and that 19M would have been 30+ IF he played good. So the finances made sense. That said, he didnt play good. However, I think we need to keep him on the team, let him watch from the sidelines and see what he is in training camp.

Honestly don't care. Glad he's gone.

I think the last few weeks have made us forget how much we loved Fitt. The coaching is bad. Really bad. I'm typically a patient guy with coaches but they all look inept. Also I really dont like the organizational structure of a coach over a GM. I think we need to clean house on the coaching staff and give authority to Fitt.

Serious question. Why did we go get Gilmore

I swear this fan based wants to run out every coach, in every position, we ever get.

Old friend Jack Del Rio talking about qb situation this Sunday
CanadianCat replied to BurnNChinn's topic in Carolina Panthers
Im torn. PJ might be better at running the system today. So he might give uis the best/safest chance to win THIS week. But we need to get Cam up to speed ASAP and playing is the fastest way to do that. So the question is how many games could we afford to potentially drop to do that? -
Fug... Im in my 30's and some of the slang the 'kids' use today dont make any sense.. I mean if the above is the meaning of 'say less', then Im cool with it.
-
I dont like it from Cam. edit: so say less doesnt mean 'fug you coach' I retract the above

So about Jaycee Horn… any official updates?
CanadianCat replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do you think Horn was a reactionary pick to Pitts? -
Thats true, but pass rushers are also the most expensive position other than QB. Given our scheme, I think if we had to, we could find a replacement for him easier than Gilmore. Im not arguing that he's not good, but if you had to choose either or, given our defensive scheme I would let him go.
