Film Review of Dallas Game by Brett Kollmann
CanadianCat replied to B_Eazi's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree, Phil got cute. But TBH Dallas has one of the best offensive rosters in the the league. We just got beat. -
It's so bad. Grades are legit

What about Jake Delhomme? Jimmy Classen?

Matt Rhule just showed us his true colors.

Stephon Gilmore: Why this was such a slam dunk

Your comment is confusing. Obviously none of us here could have predicted this, but it is easy to see expected or predicted outcomes of this. -
Stephon Gilmore: Why this was such a slam dunk
CanadianCat replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cannot complain about whats not on the menu. Gilmore was served up. -
I'm having a really hard time seeing how this could be a bad move for us and a lot of reasons this was a slam dunk. Here are a few... Mentoring the youth: Gilmore is known to be a 'pro's pro'. Some are saying that just having him in the same room as Henderson will bring Henderson (and Horn) along much faster and 'fix' whatever people think is wrong with him Never enough quality corners: Our CB room is full and full of high level talent. Allowing Henderson to be CB 3 or 4 will take the pressure off him and only make the entire defense better. We now have the ability to get coverage sacks along side our regular blitzes and pass rush. If he balls out and walks: He Gilmore comes back and plays at an all pro level and we dont resign him, he will likely get a 3rd round comp pick for him. Considering we traded 6th rounded in 2 years from now thats a steal of a deal. If he balls out, we resign and let DJack walk: I dont think this will happen but of the coaching staff and FO (whom I fully trust) think this is the best move, likely we will then also get a high level comp pick for him while still having Henderson and Horn as top end talent in that room. Salary Cap: Signing him has really no impact for future plans unless we resign him but looking at this year only, we had the space and secured a top end player. If we resign him and DJack: I think these would be 2 very different contracts. Gilmore would likely be a 3 year deal but with the 3rd year voidable. DJack would likely be a 5 year deal. We have the space to sign both, and Gilmore would likely be gone before we need to sign Henderson and Horn. Im running though all the scenario and think this was a master work signing all the way around.

Agreed.
-
If we dont resign him and let him walk, would we get a comp back?!
-
Given that it was reported that he was being released that leads me to believe that Fitt picked up the phone and then made the deal. I LOVE that he took advantage of the situation. Im as excited about the FO as I am about our young team. Exciting times.

He got it, but man that drive sucked for us. What else can we do....
-
Your bang on. Name a small market team that gest a lot of media attention/'respect'? Green Bay? And they have been contenders/SB winners for 20 years?
-
I wouldn't want to play cards with Fitt..
-
TBH I wouldn't pick ourselves yet either. This is a tough game and we just lost CMC. We need to beat the 'boy's before we are recognized by the boys.

I'll eat some crow for this but I still Rivera was still our best coach in Panthers history (to this point). His time did come to an end and it was time to move on. That said, the bar to overtake RR is not very high. I think Rhule will easily get there.

Brett Kollman: Panthers defence breakdown
CanadianCat replied to OldhamA's topic in Carolina Panthers
This video really shows me that last years 1st round pick in Brown was critical to the scheme. I typically support all our draft choices but I was 1 among the crowd that thought a run stuffing DT that early might not have been the best value. Now I see it all come together. I love that this team is thinking long term with team building. -
I was thinking that same thing. Extending Jax for the duration of the rookie deals, even if thats a top contract would make sense. However you dont want his contract to impact resigning these guys.
-
Nevermind that DJack is playing lights out right now as well. AND thats not considering the D as a whole.. im giddy
-
Im so excited about this unit. If we make a playoff push is Horn expected to be available then or is he done till next year?

No Respect for the Panthers - What Cowboys Fans are Saying
CanadianCat replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well we shouldnt be cocky either. We really have had an easy schedule up to now but we beat the team we should have beat. Now we are playing without CMC and Horn. This will be a test for the team. Losing wont mean much but a win helps legitimize the record. -
Im ok bringing him along slowly. As Rhule said in his presser 'be patient with great talent' We are building for the long haul.

Why do we keep trading our FA acquisitions?
CanadianCat replied to BurnNChinn's topic in Carolina Panthers
Does trading Arnold open up more reps for Marshall? If so, then I like this trade even more. We need our young talent on the field. (Marshall, Tremble and Hubbard)
