Interesting topic. I think this was always 100% media driven which caused bad advice to agents and thus to players. Look at the Carolina narrative, most mocks had us picking a QB and then in their analysis of the pick they all said it was a terrible QB class - but we HAD to have one. I dont think the evaluations from the media people and teams were off, just desire of the media to generate click bait by forcing team to take them and writing headlines about them.

Yeah I think the leash is short. Even if Sam is playing well but we fall behind in the playoff push I can see them throwing Corral out there to finish the season - to see what we have. Honestly if I were to bet on it, I see Sam starting the season and Corral finishing it.

Ha ha man Cam at his prime was amazing. When I get depressed I'll often re-watch some 2015 games, specifically the Arizona playoff game. But dude come on... Cam could stiff arm DE's and truck stick LB's. CB's just got out of the way!!

I hear what your saying but I think it will be an actual open competition. Fitt came from Seattle with Wilson, so he has seen what happens when you open it up. That said I think the tie goes to Sam. If at the end of camp Sam and Corral look equal I think they roll with Sam. That said the leash would be VERY short.

Man I just feel for kids with 'weird' names. I means Cam's kids names are way out there but even my friends wanted to make their kids name's 'unique' and just made up spellings for them. Those kids will go through life CONSTANTLY correcting people on how to spell it and that grinds on you. Heck my name is Alan and it can be spelled Alan, Allan or Allen (as the more common ways) most people spell my name Allan and as a kid that really irked me. Now I dont even bother to correct them.. so yeah.. I feel for kids with odd names.

I think the best situation is what Rhule has already said will happen. Its an open competition. Darnold should win that. If Darnold sucks and we finish bottom 5 we are drafting another QB next year for our new head coach. If Darnold pays mediocre then Corral is again in competition with Darnold. I am still bullish on Darnold. I think him having competition will actually push him to be better. He is still young and has all the tools. Who is at QB doesn't matter to me as long as they earned that spot.

Yeah I dont really want a trade up and Fitt had said we need to value next years picks, so unless there is a guy they REALLY like, I think we stay put.

Im good for pickett but would rather give Darnold one last shot then make a decision on QB next year.

Well nothing other than 'i just fired him' would have made most of you happy. - Some positives I take from that statement is that we dont need to reach for a QB. - Rhule and Fitt can draft their board without drafting for the short term If we suck this year, Rhule will be gone. But as an owner you need to give assurances to your people that their jobs are safe until THE MOMENT you fire them or else they male dumb decisions.

I dont hate it. The guys at the top of the draft are exciting but never a sure thing. Also, if we draft a QB in the first round I'll buy the jersey and be their #1 fan. Im so tired of the negativity here. I'll drink the cool-aid on any player we draft. LFG!!

Im the forever optimist for this team i feel lately... But I think we are heavily discounting this teams ability to draft players. Say what you want about Rhule but Rhule NAILED his first draft. We got 4 starters in that draft and good depth. Last years draft felt underwhelming mainly because Horn didnt play, but Horn looked exceptional when he played. Marshall has big potential. Brady 'could' be a starter or a very good depth player nevermind Tremble. 5 guys in that draft played in almost every game. We had a good draft last year. I think we all agree we dont agree with how he played some of those players. But we selected good players. Add a 2nd year of Fitterer to the mix and let him work his magic. I think we will leave this draft with the right players. How we use this is another story but I think we have the right people on staff that can evaluate players.

I would rather pay 30M on a 1 year deal when it looks like he has his poo together rather than signing a 3 year 50 million. I get the price is high, but if hes ascending thats good. Now let him prove it one more time. Tag him a 2nd time if we have to. Him ascending is a good problem to have.

I mean tagging him would be one option, probably the best for both parties honestly.

I get what your saying but you need to hear yourself say it. "Say we make the playoffs as a wild card team" Thats fuggin awesome. Sam playing to his ceiling it the best possible out come we can home for.

Im fine rolling with Sam. Live or die with Darnold. I actually have hope that he will have a decent season this year. Kid still young.

Jackson is a great corner. We have a really good top 3 now. Potential to be top secondary in the NFL if people play to their potential.

o b v i o u s l y.. Horn was hurt most of the season. In THIS NFL you need at least 3 really good corners. You need 1 MLB. Horn will be great. Just you watch.
