Another one falls into the trap that is Sam Darnold
CanadianCat replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
If anyone can is Shannahan. And to be honest, I hope he does. I liked Sam. He had to play with 2 shitty teams.- 108 replies

Agreed. I feel like with guys like Cam they just assumed he could take those hits so it was not important to try to stop that - he was bigger than most guys hitting him anyway. Now we have the complete opposite and the brain trust is forced to build around that reality. Maybe that means we dont focus as much on D as we have in the past. But honestly that doesnt matter. No QB no competing. Im excited for the direction of this team

Potential $1.2B Panthers stadium renovation discussion
CanadianCat replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
Unpopular opinion but I live like 5000 miles away so the tram moving has literally no impact on my fandom. ... would rather see the money go to the local population... -
I see what your saying as they do reference that dinner a lot but at the same time the NFL had consensus that he was the best QB hands down. The tape proved that. I think the dinner confirmed who he is and they fell in love with the person at that point.. No different then at your job. You interview the person because their resume qualifies them. The interview doesnt show their competency, it just lets you get to know them and thats the deciding factor between you and the other candidate.

Colts taking Will Levis in the 2nd after drafting AR15?
CanadianCat replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly I like that idea. Worst case we's worse than AR and you can still likely trade him. Best case is he becomes your Franchise QB and you can trade AR. They have 2 shots to try to find their QB. I like it. -
Best VALUE draft picks in Panther History
CanadianCat replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would argue that Peppers, Cam and Luke were great value for their position and outplayed most drafted at those same draft slots. -
Honestly I dont care. I live 4000 miles away so I have no local coverage. So I just care about Sundays. LFG

CJ Stroud: I’m a football player, not a test taker
CanadianCat replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I get what hes saying but when the race is close you look at for tie breakers. This was a tie breaker for many QB's in a muddy QB draft. -
Selling a home and the related commisions
CanadianCat replied to Cullenator's topic in Huddle Lounge
Sorry I was not referring that they would NOT show a home, its just that the agent will obviously hype up their products 1st. -
Selling a home and the related commisions
CanadianCat replied to Cullenator's topic in Huddle Lounge
This is the world I live in. Im a real estate developer where Im from and we hire agents to sell our product. When I do our proforma and I see the 5% commission we pay it always hurts - yet we always pay it. So I wanted to give a slightly different perspective then just the commission price... - When you hire an agent you are also paying for their contact list. A good agent is building a big clientele list and they should know what they want. This is why good agents can make a quick sale. They already know 10 people that are looking for a house in that area/price range. So while it sucks to have a quick sale as it seems they did nothing for it, a good agent spends their career building that list. - Agents split commissions. So if you negotiate the commission too low other agents will avoid showing that house because they would get paid less. Sounds dumb, but this is 100% true. Typical commission in 5-6% if you reduce it to 4% some buying agents will simply not show this home to their client. - The above is why you need to pick your selling agent so carefully. Because the most money you can make as an agent is if they double end the deal - they get the full commission. So picking a big wig will likely result in a faster turn around for the same price as a JR agent with no contacts. Personally I would love to not use an agent to keep that money but they do have their value. -
Aaron Rodgers finally traded to Jets
CanadianCat replied to Ocpanthertew714's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I caught that after I posted. Still for a likely 1 year rental, thats a steep price. -

Trading a 1st, 2nd and likely a 1st for Rodgers makes our trade up to #1 seem like a great deal. -
Hence the AR comps to Cam Newton... Newton dominated in college. AR is just a big dude. Thats the end of that comparison.

@AceBoogie dude - chill out a little..

Cam Newton gives a list of QB's he would back up for...
CanadianCat replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
he did... but that lasted like 3 games -
This was exactly what I thought. It also says a lot that Fitt didnt immediately try to grab all the power back himself as an over reaction. Fitt is going to be a good GM for us but ultimately his value will be earned these next 3 years as we try to compensate with out those high draft pics.

CanadianCat replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
He would still be the best goal line QB in the league but hard to hold a roster spot for that -

I blame Cam for not developing as a passer.. -
Young VS Stroud, the greatest Panthers debate ever?
CanadianCat replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Now on to a small tangent on Cam vs AR15.... People love to compare them but honestly Cam coming out was in a very different situation. Cam DOMINATED at every level. I dont think he lost a game. He came into the draft as an unrefined passer but that was ok cause he dominated at every level. AR15 is not NEARLY at that level. His only similarity is simply his size and athletic profile. -
Young VS Stroud, the greatest Panthers debate ever?
CanadianCat replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam was not a shoe in. There were 3 groups of people in that draft Group #1: Jimmy Classen should be given more time cause of him being a top HS recruit - he just needs more help around him. Group #2: Cam Newton fans Group #3: Locker/Gabbert fans. This was a larger contingent that you would think. Both these guys were better passers and more of the traditional QB profile. Cam was never a shoe in. -

I dont remember DJ over Ridley being a big deal. We picked low in that draft so you pick what falls to you. I think most people were happy with the DJ pick. The Fournette and CMC draft we all wanted a RB or the TE that year but Fournette was the clear favorite here... because we all wanted to relive the Stewart days. CMC and Bryce Young both have similar vibes to the conversation. He's too small, he's not typical (white RB/small frame for a QB), yada yada. But thats why we all freaked out at CMC's workout photo's cause we could see him getting bigger as year 1 he went down at first contact a lot. -
Honestly one of the things I get excited about CVJ based on these reports is his accuracy. The QB we draft will be our next franschise guy that we compare to Cam and Jake. And the one thing I HOPING this next guy can do it actually hit a guy in stride. I loved CAM and for as amazing as he was I feel like we had so many opportunities left on the field cause he would throw behind a receiver and make them stop or slow down, causing them to get tackled. ALL I want is to see a get catch a ball in stride while running across the middle. Sounds like CJ can do that.
