Now this person has a fully functional brain and can actually think long term further than "I want Hopkins now". What ive been thinking all along. He would just wreck the development of our young guys and take away their targets all for some high cap space.

Do they have any dependable CB's left....

Would it be a problem to talk Josh Norman into another season with us? He did not look terrible last year in his very limited duty here. -
Dalvin not Cooking in Minnesota Anymore

Or by others flawed philosophy.....Let's just sign every good player that is available and be on our way to salary cap hell. And yes, signing Hopkins would have most definitely taken away reps from Mingo and TMJ while overpaying for a player who may seen his best days behind him but that does not mean at every single position other than WR that it would be the same situation. But that's this board in a nutshell. If one has a valid opinion in one spot then let's take their valid opinion and spin it all around to be damned to meet our whacked narrative in order to push our agenda. But by all means let's go sign the lesser often injured version of CMC (as if some didn't complain enough about his injury history and high salary) and overpay for him at that, when we already have miles sanders who has a nearly exact same play style when we do need to sign another running back but perhaps someone who plays a more power back role. -

Yes they are. Both sides and the loons that hang on each political sides every word and each political sides crap brain washing news stations. Cheers to you for having a workable brain and being able to see past each sides propaganda -
Panthers signing Yannick Ngakoue?
Ricky Prickles replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fast for their position? Not s much a power guy but a speed and explosive quickness guy. God I miss the days of Julius Peppers. A power fast speed explosive strength freak rusher guy. -
This is such a pointless thread. Its like a Will Levis hate thread for no reason. I liked all the top QB's this year including Levis, Richardson, Stroud and Young and I hope they are all successful. Unfortunately as history goes all probably wont be successful. Which ones are successful, who knows. A lot depends on the team that drafts them and how well they are groomed and cared for with situations such as management building up great offensive lines to keep them upright and surrounding them with solid talent and some veteran leadership at the beginning. As far as Levis goes, some people want to push some agenda that he is a head case and even made a big deal out of his celebration when he was drafted. Thats one of the most stupid things ive read recently as he looked generally happy and excited like anyone would be. He didnt look like the "head case" one genius on here described him as because he was supposedly too excited or some crap narrative they were trying to point out. I hope the guy balls out just to shove it down some of your know it all hateful throats. I also hope Bryce , CJ and Richardson look great as well just to shove it down their detractors throats as well. All the QB's from this draft may have some sort of knock on them but one thing I can say is they all seemed cool to me in speaking to the media recently and they all seem like they could develop into good team leaders. Some of the people on here are just so damn hateful and have so many hidden agendas and narratives they want to paint (much of the time its politically motivated coming from BOTH ends of that spectrum) that it makes me want to puke. "Waaaahhh Waaaaahhh Waaaaaahhhh I dont like Bryce, CJ, Richardson or Levis and I want to bitch about them being too small, too dumb, too much of a headcase or too green and unproven and I would rather them be unsuccessful then hope for the young men's success so I can run on a message board in the future and scream I told you so while doing my little know it all dance"

I agree, with Reich I do not get the impression of a slobby buffoon way in over his head and looking to blame anyone and anything he can to save his own a$$. Much respect to him thus far!

We should sign Adrian Peterson as a backup

Bo Jackson anyone? His hip may be feeling better now with the rest it has had. -
The wide receivers are not tops in the league by far but they are not below average. And a signing of Deandre Hopkins will in fact limit reps and development of the younger guys (TMJ and Mingo in particular) no matter what you believe. Couple that with the fact that Hopkins said he is done playing with rookie QB's and now we can go cry over a new pipe dream that is not going to happen anyhow.

Burns is the best we have for sure and not a bad player at all but I dont think we can compare him to Julius Peppers. He was something else all together and a freak of nature that teams had to plan for and QB's would have to watch out for on every play. We will probably have to overpay for Burns when the time comes unfortunately. I just dont see how we can comp[are Burns to Peppers at all. Pepp is hall of fame, Burns is good but I dont see him currently as hall of fame or on a hall of fame track per say
-
I wonder if we have enough to pay him? He definitely will not come cheap unless he cuts us a home town discount
-
But having the addition of him also is going to slow down Mingo and TMJ's development. Yes he helps but counting on the younger players to develop much slower as he will be taking away learning time from them. Hopkins is good but he is definitely no Smitty

Just a meaningless practice but yikes, that looks like some garbage pass I would throw to my kid in the yard. -

At the time I wanted a taller QB as well but we got Young now and he is a very solid person and appears to be a great role model/budding team leader so why dont we all just get behind him and support him now. I think he will prove my initial worries wrong and will be a heck of a great choice.
-
Do we need another receiver that will keep our younger guys on the bench and inhibit their development? Mingo and TMJ are our future, we have to get them game time and make sure they both develop especially TMJ. This year is crucial for him. Probably an unpopular opinion but I would let Hopkins go somewhere else at this point in an attempt to se what we have with young guys and who can develop with playing time on the field.

Its going to happen to every QB every now and then. Its when it gets to be 3,4 and 5 a game where it will become an issue. He is no dummy, is no slouch and seems to me that he is a perfectionist. I have no doubt he probably lost a few minutes sleep over that one pass last night and will work to keep that from happening regularly. He will be fine.
