  1. It's pretty clear you use words that you don't know the meaning of like "value and that everything we think "we" know is based mostly on rumors. I'm not defending the fact that Bryce is a great QB or that he didn't look like an completely awful QB the first two games of the season. I'm defending against the Chicken Little, sky is falling, fan speak narrative that he has "no value" or that it's not very possible he can improve and become a starter in this league. Why do I believe this? Because I've seen it happen way to often in sports. One teams "trash" is another treasure. Hell, it's happened to us as recently as Darnold and Baker. Because last year would have a negative impact on any developing QB. Because Canales has said he still believes in Bryce as a franchise QB. Because Jonathan Jones has reported that the Panthers as an organization still believe in him. Because he hasn't been traded. Because fans usually don't know poo, myself included, but I am least admit it or say I don't know. I'm not saying it's not very possible or maybe even probable that Bryce will turn out to be a complete bust but history has shown that it's very possible he'll be a future starter in this league. Steve Young won 3 games his first 2 years before he was traded to SF and he looked about as bad as Bryce throwing 11 TDs and 21 ints. The Panthers are known to not give up when the going gets tough. Keep Pounding.
  2. That is not true. ESPN, Adam Schefter and Jay Glazer have reported that 4 teams has inquired about trading for him. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10136302-nfl-trade-rumors-panthers-bryce-young-eyed-by-several-teams-after-benching "The Panthers have been contacted by certain teams, according to league sources, while other teams have mulled a Young trade within their own organizations," Schefter wrote. According to Schefter, the Panthers "do not intend to trade" Young. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports provided more information Sunday, adding there were specifically four teams interested in the young quarterback. "There's four teams who actually called the Panthers this week and tried to inquire to see if they can trade for Bryce Young," Glazer said on Fox NFL Sunday. "All four teams were told emphatically by Carolina, 'We are not trading him, we do still think there's a future here."
  3. Fine. Let me rephrase. Why hasn't Morgan/Canales traded Bryce Young yet?
  4. Their relationship was definitely a factor but both Morgan and Canales report directly to Tepper as does the 3rd man at the top, Brandt Tilis (Executive VP of Football operations). "This follows the organizational structure that the executive search firm Sportsology, who helped team owner David Tepper with this search and remains involved in the head coaching search, installed when they performed similar services for the San Francisco 49ers in 2017." https://www.derp/2024/1/24/24048916/carolina-panthers-samir-suleiman-brandt-tilis-and-the-future-front-office
  5. If it's such an obvious call to trade Bryce now why hasn't Morgan and Canales jumped at the chance? Former local reporter here, Jonathan Jones, who has since done writing for Sport Illustrated and is now a senior NFL reporter and insider for CBS pretty much lays out the truth. I've followed the guy his whole career and he is one of the best. Most can't see through the pain of losing so much or use random twitter posts to support their opinion so many won't believe this either. Tepper going to a pro day or who his wife hugged is too much proof to overcome for the majority of fans. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/panthers-not-turning-page-on-benched-bryce-young-expect-former-no-1-pick-to-regain-starting-spot-in-2024/
  6. I really don't understand. He was elite in middle school, high school and college. He was one of the best at every level pre-NFL. He earned all of his previous accolades. Even if he's the biggest NFL bust in history I don't understand what you mean. As if, now looking horrible in the NFL has somehow pulled away the curtain and exposed what a fake he was all along.
  7. Bryce meet Andy coming off the field after his first TD and I saw numerous times of them together talking on the sideline. I'm sure he was celebrating in the locker room as well with his team because he's a class act no matter what you think of his skill on the field. No one really knows how much of the rumors about Tepper were or are true but the one fact I do know about Tepper is he picked Canales to be our head coach.
  8. How about we let Canales try and develop Bryce. Four other teams inquired about trading for Bryce. Canales flat out refused. Jonathan Jones has reported that no one is out on Bryce and they still believe he can be our franchise QB. Let's give our new coach and QB whisper more than a preseason and 2 games to develop Bryce.
  9. I've heard rumors that people can improve over time. I remember when Chubba was a JAG. I remember when Derrick Brown was a bust. Icky was a borderline bust last year. Wasted a pick on Horn. Legette was a wasted pick. Brooks was a dumb pick. Damian Lewis got injured today and Zavala replace him for a lot of the 2nd half. Zavala looked as bad as an rookie offensive linemen could look last year. Guys don't get drafted high who don't have skills and abilities. Bryce is still a great prospect and it would be stupid to cut him now. Canales thinks he can still develop him and I do to. You teach young, inexperienced players how to improve, especially when your new coach preaches development. No one disagrees that the kid is a great team mate. As difficult as it is to find a QB I want to give any one of them Canales believes in as many chances as possible to develop. Brees was benched in his 2nd year. Steve Young started out 3-16 and got traded before his 3rd year to SF. I heard he eventually did good. I'm not saying Bryce is going to turn out like those two but he could. IMHO I saw plenty of flashes last year to warrant him being on the team. Some guys need to sit and learn, probably more so after the cluster that was all of last year. I think everyone agrees that Bryce looked worse in the first 2 games than he did last year. Everything points to a guy who is shellshocked. Quit taking Twitter rumors as facts or just be ok with saying, "I don't know" when it comes to Bryce's future potential.
  10. I think Canales watched the film and combined with the last game realized it was much worse and had a thought. Fixing Bryce from the bench would be much easier then allowing the current events to continue. Brees got benched for 5 games after being the starter for a year and a half. Steve Young went 3-16 to start his career. I don't buy the "how could you ever start him again" nonsense. Easy. Dalton gets hurt or he plays average and we don't resign him. Bring in some legit competition and whomever is better starts. I'm not saying it'll be Bryce as those 2 games have been pretty bad but is easily could be. I don't know but I went back and watched his first game from last year and still see flashes and skill. I don't think he's done. At the very least, I don't think that giving up on him after what I consider two horrible games after a year of being on one of the worst football teams I've watched is worth a 4th round pick or whatever his current value is. You could not play him the rest of the year and start someone else next year and you'd still get the same value then, if not more.
  11. The agenda was building around Bryce. 2 WR, 3 olinemen, TE, and a potentially elite RB. I stood up for Bryce all last year because I didn't think you could evaluate him properly with what we had last year in coaching, play calling and personal. Bryce was the 2nd least pressured QB in the last 2 weeks because of the money Morgan spent on the line. Despite Bryce looking horrible I'd say Morgan has had an exceptional beginning as GM. Here some more things I liked. Trevin Wallace looked like a banger in preseason. Resigned Brown. Gave Horn his 5th year option and Horn is playing very well. *Flipped a 7th round pick for a starting CB in Michael Jackson who has also played well. Filled a depleted roster with solid vets and if you really look at the cap this is a 2 year play. Almost everyone except the 2 elite guards signed a 2 year deal. Did not pay Stephen Gilmore 10 million for one season. *Got the 0-2 Rams 2nd pick next year. Set a culture and tone of the type of players we want. *Dawgs. *Elite GM moves.
  12. Wait until we get Brooks backs with this oline.
  13. Texans had Bryce ahead of Stroud. Meeting with your boss isn't meddling. Coaches and GMs have made all of our draft picks. We did land on the moon. 9/11 was not an inside job. Dunning-Kruger is rampant with NFL fans. The sun will shine again in Panther land.
  14. Maybe, but the best course of action is still for the staff to be behind Bryce 100 percent. Him turning it around is still the most probable positive outcome possible for the QB position and the team as a whole. The only other option is start Dalton but I think that is too short a leash for Bryce. As horrible as it sounds you have to stay the course and double down on Bryce and Canales as there really is no where else to go. Pulling the plug after one game is the only way this gets worse. Coaching looked better on offense. Oline and WR looked better. Bryce looked worse. Defense looked worse. Boggles my mind to think we're worse against the run than last year.
  15. I wanna see some examples made even if they don't really matter. Boone allowing the punt block. I'm way past a developmental 4th string RB. Just get me someone who can do one simple job well. Sanders also screwed up a block that got Bryce sacked but Bryce seems unable to change up protection against obvious pressure. Can't see it before it comes and doesn't have a plan if the pressure does come.
  16. I thought we would lean on the run a lot more and slowly add Bryce with some PA throws. Looks like a team that has not bought in. I don't think Bryce is completely broken yet but whatever newfound confidence he'd started to build went down the drain with that first pick. I expect them to look a little better next week but won't "figure it out" until Jonathon Brooks becomes the starter in 5 or 6 games. We'll have won maybe 1 game by them and realize our only option is to pound the rock. We will start doing that. Brooks will break out as a star. Bryce will improve little by little and start to look like his college tape or he actually is a complete bust and around week 10 Canales realizes we have a stud oline and RB and he'll bench Bryce. We'll stupidly then win just enough games to kill a high enough draft pick to replace Bryce.
  17. Guy is a blocking TE. Where are the blocking stats? How does he compare to other blocking TE's in the league? I do think he was overpaid and I blame McAdoo for his present contract. IMHO, he was the one pushing for him.
  18. Who is the assistant to the regional manager? I blame him.
  19. Preseason is longer longer the glory it once was.
  20. Preseason is no longer what it used to be. I think with an extra regular season game and coaches liking joint practices a lot more the norm is going to be that Starters don't play preseason games at all. Putting Bryce out there with anything less than our starting offensive line would be downright criminal. If there were still 4 preseason games I think we'd see Bryce in the usual way we saw starters in each game in the past.
  21. This is from his draft / combine profile from NFL.com. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/austin-corbett/3200434f-5200-8097-d4cb-2bd53a7e3b55 Overview Corbett won't blow you away with any of his measurables or play traits, but he's solid in most areas. Corbett is definitely sharp enough to move inside to guard or even center and has good technique, but his average to below average play strength and lack of length may be a concern. He has the size and talent to compete for a guard/center spot early on, but he may elevate above an average starter during his career. Sources Tell Us "He's smart and just solid all the way around. Long time starter in the league. I think he'll end up at center." - AFC offensive line coach
  22. I don't think all the 5th and 6th year seniors flooding the market due to Covid had any effect on the value of a 2nd round pick next year vs this year. Still feels great.
