Not to detract from the convo going on in here but I’ve been exposed to Bears twitter this week….man those are some of the most delusional fans ever. I know we have some delusional people in our fanbase but they be trippin over there lol. I get that they have our pick next year and want us to do bad but the way some of their fans talk you’d think they didn’t earn the #1 pick and that we did lmao.

Panthers Blueprint Episode 3: Embracing The Future
BlackPanther22 replied to Mr Mojo Risin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I thought this episode was fantastic and definitely the best out of the 3 when it came to insight into their mindset during this offseason. Few things I picked up on: - While Mingo was their "top" guy at 39, they also really liked Matthew Bergeron (OG) and it sounded like he and Derrick Hall (EDGE) were the other two choices. - Sounded like they really had conviction on DJ Johnson, and they "won" the trade by whatever metrics teams use to judge that. - It seemed like it was between Zavala and Nick Saldiveri (who ironically went to the Saints) and Reich and the other coaches had a ton of conviction on Zavala. - And lastly Jammie Robinson was pissed lmao. I'm really rooting for the guy and I hope he gets non-special teams playing time at some point this season. Overall, really great episode! Hoping we get Camp Confidential this year too!- 58 replies

Sheesh, some people in here come across as really miserable when it comes to dunking on people for being excited about positive news regarding Bryce lol. Like yeah sure, does he still have to prove himself in pads/games? Absolutely. In the same vein though, I’d much rather get reports about my rookie QB excelling at the mental aspect of the game (which is typically the hardest thing to adapt to) then to hear about him struggling in mini-camp/OTA’s. It’s fair to temper expectations, but my God, we haven’t had a reason for hope around here in like 5 years. Let people enjoy themselves.

See, like I'd typically agree here but I really think it depends on the style of offense we trot out there this year. If they really are spreading the ball around like they say they will, they can find roles for everybody in a way that can maximize their production. I think as far as depth, this group is better than the past few seasons because when you get down to the 3rd and 4th guys, they still can provide quality production. In years past I didn't feel that. I do think we're all banking on one of the young guys (TMJ, Mingo, maybe Viska) to unlock their potential and I hope they do because it'll make life easier for Bryce this year. I really wish there was something out there breaking down Frank Reich's passing game so we could see how he's used his WR's in the past. That and what McVay passing schemes TB is bringing over.

Surprised nobody has posted this: Ball had some zip on it lol

Predict Team Captains!!! Will Bryce be one his rookie year?
BlackPanther22 replied to DennisM1's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree here tbh, 6 of the 8 captains from last year returned so it’d be surprising to see any of them not get their patch again. Lately there’s been a little trend of the #1 overall QB’s ending up as captains their first year. I know T-Law was one and I think Burrow was too. Of course every situation is different, but with Chark saying Bryce has the respect of the locker room already, I can definitely see him being a captain year 1. I feel like the other vacant one will either be Thielen or maybe another O-linemen like Boze as the center. -
Upcoming Panther workout schedule
BlackPanther22 replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
To add to this: Thursday will be the day to look out for final notes, observations, and pressers from OTA’s. -
I agree with everything said here but one small correction, we traded for the #1 pick on March 10th and Dalton was signed on March 14th. So I’m sure by the time Dalton was signed, he knew what the deal was and they had been in talks for the #1 pick well before then. This is part of the reason I can’t wait for the behind the scenes video to drop this year. So many interesting things happened this off-season that I wanna know more about.

They've been giving Bryce the majority of the reps since the rookies and the vets have been together. They said they'd do as such during their pressers shortly after the draft, and the beat writers have written about how Bryce has gotten the most reps out of the QB's and has basically split or possibly even taken more 1st team reps than Dalton. I know you've said you've been out of the loop but yeah I don't think you have to worry about them not committing to giving Bryce the reps because everything so far has indicated that they have.

Burns just turned 25, and if he isn't elite now I'd bet a butt load of money he'll be largely recognized as such by the end of his next contract. Haason Reddick, who everybody is mad we let go (which I get) didn't enter the "elite" conversation until his age 28 season and he didn't have near the pass rush production Burns has had before then. All that to say, you pay Burns now because of what he will become. You don't let him walk and reach his full potential elsewhere.

I mean if you think being taller = less batted passes then you’re really mistaken. Big ass 6’6 Justin Herbert led the league in passes batted down last year with 24, second was 6’3 Joe Burrow with 23. Hell, Cam was 6’5-6’6 and he got hella balls batted down at the line, especially later in his career. It has much more to do with release point and finding throwing lanes than height. It’s ridiculous that literally one batted pass has led to 5 pages of conversation but I digress. Here are last years league leaders in batted passes. Lotta tall guys with a lot of batted balls, but hey what do I know. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/passing_advanced.htm

I don’t hate Donte but I genuinely think he’s best matched up with other speed guys. Bigger guys and especially crafty route runners kill him every year. Chris Godwin routinely takes his ankles every single Bucs matchup.

I mean if we’re gonna talk about how Bryce was and what PNP said about it, they said he had a really good day overall with the 11 on 11’s and 7 on 7’s which is the more important thing as opposed to over analyzing the throws on air that I’m sure he’s completed millions of times.
-
You can’t put down PNP then praise Big Katt in the same sentence lmao. Rashad did acknowledge that it was probably a chemistry thing and they’re generally pretty unbiased and analytical with their analysis. Did the throws look good? No, but also like it’s an OTA session in May. It’s not the end of the world. The overreactions to this and the batted pass are OD but we knew this would happen as soon as he messed anything up.
-
I think I saw a tweet from one of the beat reporters saying they’re only allowed to 3 of the OTA sessions. So if I had to guess they’d be at one of each of the 3 separate sessions over the next few weeks
-
I actually like that they’re forcing (probably not the best word) Bryce to work under center despite the size stuff. It keeps the offense multiple and hopefully we continue to see creativity because of it. Also noticed they’re using the “Turbo, hut!” Cadence from the Rams, which always sounded cool to me lol
-
Seems like Bryce and Andy are rotating snaps with the 1st Team OL: Idk about y’all but having a franchise QB (especially the one I was hoping we’d draft) feels good again!

Refs are on deck today so hopefully we get some 7 on 7/ 11 on 11 reports during practice.

I swear had just read that OTA’s for us start tomorrow but I guess that was wrong because apparently we’re starting today: Let the fun begin!

I'm always extremely impressed with Thomas Brown when he has pressers. He's calm, poised, and answers everything with good enough detail that you understand what he's talking about but not too much where he gives stuff away. He has the right temperament to be a really good head coach one day. I do hope he sticks around long enough to get play calling duties here and so we can get comp picks for whenever he does leave.
-
Define "lots" because I feel like if there were a lot of people with those rankings it would've affected consensus boards. I can believe people having Stroud over Bryce because of size but AR...idk just based on his lack of tape which is what scouts seem to lean on.

I’m very optimistic about both of these guys tbh. I feel like TMJ is primed for a breakout but idk what it is but I’ve always had a decent feeling that Tommy would end up surprising people one of these years. My thing with him is just his hands being more consistent which I think they’ve gotten better, and with Hurst around as a true #1 options at TE, maybe it’ll take some pressure off Tommy and he can rack up some sneaky good production in two TE sets. We’ll see what happens though. The key to our success this season imo will be the development of some of these guys like TMJ and Tremble on the offensive side of the ball to help make Bryce’s transition easier.
