Bryce Young Film Breakdown Megathread
BlackPanther22 replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
You are super dramatic lmao. I don't think anybody who's been going back and forth with you the past couple of pages has made any blatant excuses outside of pushing back on some of the things you've been saying. -
Bryce Young Film Breakdown Megathread

Stats are life? So what they actually do in the game doesn't matter? Ight man lmao. Who do you want them to pick? Because if it's AR or Levis then your stats argument goes out of the window. If you want Stroud then touché, because he's the only one with comparable stats. -

....well yeah the tape matters lol Without tape everything else is projection, which is part of the reason I'm iffy on AR at one. Like yeah he shows flashes on tape but it's a massive projection because the tape wasn't consistent. -

Well based on the history of this franchise and our former #1 pick we don't need to be asking out QB to be running over anybody. We don't need to have a power back playing at QB, we just need somebody who can get themselves out of trouble when they need to. It's really not that hard lol. Not all these QB's play the position the same. And while AR and Levis can run what are they gonna do when that's taken away from them? They both aren't as advanced as passers as Bryce or CJ (though Levis isn't as far off as AR). You can poke holes in all of these guys. Bryce's size makes him an outlier, I acknowledge that but I just can't get with the idea that he's doomed as soon as he gets to the league. -

He plays like Bryce Young man lmao. Clearly your Tua comparison is rooted in the fact that they both went to Bama which is fine but it's lazy because they ran two different offenses when each was at the school. BOB wasn't Tua's OC (Sark was) so therefore the offense was different and they played differently because of it. You keep talking about rushing yards too which again, Bryce isn't a dual threat so obviously his rushing stats aren't gonna be eye popping. There's plenty of tape of him scrambling to pick up yards if he has to which all good QB's do. -

But again, you're comparing rushing stats for two players who do not play the QB position the same way. Kyler is a scrambler who uses his speed and running ability as a natural part of his game. Bryce scrambles too but he scrambles to pass not to run and he can run but it's not one of his main traits. -

Two things: 1. I feel like Tua comparisons are lazy because they don't play the same way and Tua had a lengthy injury history before coming into the league. Hell, he was injured pretty much throughout his entire pre-draft process I believe with a hip injury. Bryce has only had one injury that only cost him a game and a half. If the guy had a rap sheet of injuries I'd fully understand the sentiment but it's simply not true. Sure, he could get hurt more at the NFL level but so could 6'4 AR and 6'3 CJ. It's all about your play style, the line in front of you, and the make up of the offense to protect the QB. Luke was just on WFNZ last week talking about how hard it was to hit a smaller QB like Drew Brees. 2. You can't even really compare Bryce hype to Zach Wilson hype because Bryce has been an extremely productive QB in college for multiple years in the best/most competitive conference in CFB and he didn't just pop up out of the blue in the same was Zach did. If anybody is the Zach Wilson/Josh Allen 'outta nowhere' prospect this year it's definitely AR as far as media hype is concerned. Like I get being cautious of the dude because he is an outlier but me personally, he's gotta show me on the field that he's an injury risk before I slap that label on him because to this point, I have no reason to believe that. -
Scott Fitterer on WFNZ this morning
BlackPanther22 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like Fitt but he's notoriously bad at hiding his hand/lying lmao. The only thing that would finally convince me that he's gotten better at not doing is if somehow the pick is not Bryce next week. Yes, he's been asked direct questions about Bryce lately but even going back to the combine interviews it's always felt like even when he's complimented other QB's, he's gone out of his way to say something extra about Bryce. The wait is almost over though. Can't wait for draft night. -
Kunkel was late on reporting that because news about that visit came out a few weeks ago and yesterday was the last day for pre-draft visits so I’m sure he’s already been in the building.

https://twitter.com/TomPelissero/status/1648663307253956611?s=20 Okay so yeah today is the last day for pre-draft visits of any kind so Will definitely is reporting the JSN stuff late and I wasn't trippin lol.
-
I definitely think he did already too, I remember it being news a few weeks ago. That's why I'm wondering if this is supposed to be something different or not because I swear Mike Kaye or one of the team reporters said that today was the last day for 30 visits.
-
The thing is though, when you make 15 million threads of the same (sometimes dated) info skewing towards one person and putting down the other option, it doesn't come across as "keeping all options open" which is probably why people are giving you a hard time. Everyone gets having a favorite but not everyone is making a bunch of threads every single day to prove that their side is "right" like you are.
-
It's because all the conjecture post-trade was that the trade up had to be for Stroud based on Reich's history with bigger QB's and it was coming off of it really strong combine performance. A lot of reporters recently have came out and said that's the reason they were mocking Stroud to us for a while too. But as we've gotten deeper into the process people are now getting sourced info that we like Young as opposed to speculating which is what the Stroud stuff turned out to be. I do really like Stroud too but there hasn't been any sourced info linking us to him in forever. That means something this deep into draft season.
-
I kinda feel like he's late on reporting this? I could've sworn I saw someone say that today was the last day teams could have people in for visits before the draft. Unless that was specifically for top 30 visits and this is something different.
-
Idk if I were the owner of a billion dollar team and was about to make an investment into a guy who I hope can be the face of my franchise for years to come I'd wanna be involved in that. If an owner was going to a pro day for a DE or Running Back or something I'd think that'd be weird but I understand the owner wanting to know as much about a guy who his team will be associated with to the national media. Plus, if Reich and Fitt are making the decision as they've both told us they are then meh, who cares?
-
Imma be real with you, based on some of the reporting around the team lately….I don’t even think Stroud is QB2 on the Panthers board. So if it’s not Bryce it’s probably AR which means you’re going to all these great lengths to prove a point about a guy who might not even be a top 2 option for the team. I applaud the consistency though….kinda.
-
I'm sure it'll be run heavy especially the first year with a rookie QB. I expect some McVay/Shanahan run/PA concepts to be in there from Thomas Brown's influence and of course some of the concepts Reich has ran in the past. Brown has always made sure to mention his love for the use of shifts and motions so I'm sure that'll be big in the offense too.
-
I think the size thing is a valid thing to be concerned about just because we’ve never seen it before. I do think they can get him on a plan to bulk up over time and he’ll continue to grow into his body. Personally, I think the good outweighs the bad with Young and that he’ll do really well for us (if he’s the pick) but I get the critiques about the size. Some people on here kinda take it to another level though lmao.

"There was one receiver last week..."
BlackPanther22 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ve been super interested in who Fitt might’ve been talking about here. I feel like depending on who it was they could be a target at 39 potentially. -
You say this like he has terrible tape or something lol

Panthers GM Scott Fitterer on Bryce Rumors..

Nah you’re the only “insider” on here that has a legit track record that people can look back on. Most people on here (including me) probably appreciate the info you provide! -
OFFICIAL: Bryce Young cancels remaining team visits
BlackPanther22 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well the media has been driving the Stroud hype train since the Georgia game lol, which I’m sure has contributed to why so many on here and other places have been so high on Stroud. I get being concerned with the arm strength but I also think Bryce has the potential to develop and grow into his body on a NFL strength and conditioning plan which could help his arm get stronger too. I don’t think he’ll be his current size for the rest of his life, the dude is only 21.
