I just went back to check, and Dalton Schultz , Nico Collins and Noah Brown have never had a 100 yard receiving game before this season. Yet we know Thielen and Chark certainly have. I don't say this to trash BY. I think he an CJ have different styles. I'm saying CJ's style would have suited Thielen, Chark and even TMJ better. But we do have BY now and we would benefit by finding receivers who can thrive in the short game.

Bryce defenders, please give me a reason why you're still hopeful

I'm not so sure Christensen isn't a better LT than Icky. I realize he's out for the season, but I'm thinking next year. -

I'm not really a Bryce defender, but I will say...if we can play to his strengths, meaning be more like Alabama, he can lead the team down the field methodically. Eat the clock. Get into the red zone, where we know he can score. That can be a good formula for winning. -
I can't call anyone a "bust" from just one season.

So did Steve. His Pro Day was like listening to Coltrane, remember?
-
I could swear Hurst looked good preseason. I don't understand it.

C'mon now. Bryce is a good pick. Honestly, I think both QB's went to the right teams. But CAR still has some issues to deal with.
-
Yup...everywhere CJ goes, he has playmakers. Meanwhile, Houston's D really failed them today.

Ugh. I hate seeing Baker play well after how terrible he was last year. Even when TB fumbles, they get it back in better position. Looks like this will end up being a heartbreaker for HOU.

Too many penalties at the wrong time for HOU
-
HOU's defense struggling today.

I'm a CJ fan but I'm happy with what I saw from Bryce last week. So I think they will both be pretty awesome. Hope Bryce kills it today.

Hard to believe the Texans have no backup kicker.

Official Trade Deadline & Speculation Thread

Not gonna lie. Disappointed we didn't make some move. The rich always seem to get richer. -
I mean, let's not go crazy. Dude doesn't fumble. Houston probably wins. Houston doesn't commit 10 turnovers to our 3, Houston probably wins. CJ wasn't awful, just not great. Bryce was great today. Good completion percentage. Made clutch plays. Was sacked, what, 5 or 6 times? Still popped up and performed. Thumbs up.

Luvu's the man. I don't want to hear trade rumors about that dude.
-
To be honest, I think we got the bye at the right time, and Houston got the bye too early. LOL
-
3 penalties to their 10 certainly helps you win.

Unfortunately, I had to watch the stupid gamecast version (how did the game go from 2 minutes to 3 seconds?). Looks like Bryce had a great game! And the secondary covered Dell and Collins pretty well. Sacks from the usual suspects, Burns and Luvu. Thielen's a beast.

Official Trade Deadline & Speculation Thread

I did say the only trade for Burns I would make is for Surtain. Insurance for the times Horn is out. But just imagine with both healthy. -
Pierce flat out sucked. Why Houston decided to give Pierce the ball on 1st and goal at the 1 yard line is beyond me, when Singletary was have a way better game. Someone said Stroud's receivers were "open open". I just saw the tape, their were definitely some perfect sideline passes to receivers covered tightly. As this dude points out: youtube.com/watch?v=aHjHgstpOq8 Having said that, of course he's made some rookie mistakes. An occasional bad throw. But this idea he's somehow terrible under pressure is overstated. Especially since early on, they showed how well he was performing against the blitz. Anyway, Stroud performed better than any QB vs the Saints so far when it comes to deep throws, according to NFL LIVE today...and that was without Tank Dell. Stroud has been perfect for Houston because they are letting him play HIS game, and turning his receivers into Ohio State-like receivers. I've already praised Bryce on another thread for improvements I've seen. As far as the next game, will our secondary be healthy in 2 weeks, I wonder? If not, expect CJ to go to town.

Now that I've actually seen the snaps, I like how much quicker and more decisive Bryce was much of the game. Missed some deep shots, but fairly sharp in with the underneath routes. Also pretty effective in the red zone. It seemed like the o-line was better. We know Chuba was an improvement over Sanders. I think we have to keep running the ball, at least while the game is fairly close.
-
I will say that I DO trust Bryce when it comes to the red zone. We've just got all kinds of issues before we get there.

Houston gonna win BY THE SKIN OF THEIR TEETH. CJ did most of the damage in the first half, but looks like he was awful the 2nd. Couldn't get anything going. Also bad decisions to give to Pierce in the red zone. Props to Houston's D though.
