Hurst's number were comparable to Ertz and Waller last year. And I get the feeling Burrow prefers relying on his WRs more...especially with Chase and Higgins both getting over a thousand yards each. Even Tyler Boyd had over 700 yards.

I think we'll find Hurst to be very good. He was effective in the playoffs for Cincy...especially in snowy Buffalo.

Round 1 - The Carolina Panthers Select Bryce Young - QB - Alabama

Or a remake of the classic Coke commercial with Mean Joe Green. -
Round 1 - The Carolina Panthers Select Bryce Young - QB - Alabama

I'm getting excited now. I wanted Stroud as much as anyone here, but I'm gonna trust in Young's leadership, intellect, elusiveness and overall skills. He's got a very good offensive line now, good weapons around him. I'm ready! -
Shout out to Holton Ahlers, QB from my alma mater East Carolina University! MVP of the Birmingham Bowl, Hula Bowl and the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl this year. I was hoping he'd get drafted, but instead was picked up by Seattle undrafted.

Ugh! If only Henderson's potential would come to fruition. (Off topic, sorry)

Cam Peoples is a pretty big dude for a running back.

Round 3 - The Carolina Panthers Select DJ Johnson - EDGE - Oregon

It looks like Johnson MIGHT be ideally suited for that other OLB spot because of his ability to stop the run and drop back in coverage. -

Looks like more depth to go along with Barno, Haynes, etc. Although this guy look kinda big for an edge. -
Shocked Michael Mayer is going in the 2nd round.

It appears ABC's broadcast is slightly delayed compared to ESPN.

I don't know anything about the Texans' o-line. I hope the protect their new pocket-passer.
-
True. Although mist of those guys run, like, a lot. But there's a subtle elusiveness Young has that can allow him to stay healthy, I think.
-
I think Panthers and Texans both got a LOT better! I'm SO damn happy for Stroud. He didn’t deserve that roller-coaster. And even though I wanted CJ, I'm happy to have a highly intelligent, savvy and talented QB with Young. I'm gonna trust the concerns I had were just me being overly cautious.

CJ Stroud: I’m a football player, not a test taker
96Bravo replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope CJ dispels 2 myths: That Ohio State quarterbacks can't succeed. And that these S2 test mean anything. By the way, if it's true that bad scores on the S2 predict bad players, but great scores don't necessarily predict good players...why the heck would ANYONE take this test??? Seems to have more drawbacks than advantages. -
If Drake Maye was in this draft would you pick him over Young?
96Bravo replied to ENC Pantherfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd pick Young. Now if Maye absolutely kills it next season? Not sure. -
The Perspective of a 6-Foot Quarterback (old Steve Young article)
96Bravo replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I love how people NOW have a problem with Stroud's processing/anticipation...after the alleged S2 results. Nobody had a problem with his processing/anticipation watching the games. This includes Kurt Warner and his breakdown of Stroud's game against Michigan. -
The Perspective of a 6-Foot Quarterback (old Steve Young article)
96Bravo replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just saw an interview with Bryce Young, and that's pretty much what he said. Other than occasional passing lanes, he primarily relies on anticipating where his receivers will be without seeing them. The idea of throwing blind like that freaks me out...but, then again, I'm no quarterback. -
I try to avoid the WR discussion because anyone can argue that the effectiveness of a team's WR corp is directly related to the effectiveness of the QB.
-
I said the same thing about Trevor Lawrence headed into his draft. I predicted he'd struggle right away because he had the luxury of holding on to the ball for long periods of time at Clemson. The good news is Stroud doesn't hold on to the ball very long at all typically.
-
I'll be honest. I keep watching play after play of both Stroud and Young from one game after another. Really in hopes that I'll fall in love with Young's style. He's very elusive. I like that. Despite his size, I'm not too worried about his durability. He can turn an ugly play into a brilliant one. Great poise. But when I watch Stroud I see a QB that just makes it "look easy". He's also clearly poised. Smooth, quick release. Beautiful ball placement. Regardless of what some test suggests, he clearly processes defenses quickly and effectively with his progressions. Some think Stroud isn't fiery enough. I say he's just stone cold out there. Maybe he's Iceman to Young's Maverick.

Nothing about that article or these "reports" jive with Stroud's performances on the field. The dude loves Jesus and football. He'll be just fine.
