The Canes have hired Chris Abbott of the SHL team HV71 as their VP. He was HV71 General Manager and will be slowly transitioned into the Canes organization. Tulsky is really shaping this organization to his liking.

Crappy playoff goaltending cost the Canes the last few years - that was their window to go for the cup. - you are right Freddie is not elite and this year is a bridge year so Koochie should be the number 1 and maybe he could steal some games and give us a shot at the playoffs, I don't see that happening if Rod stays with Freddie.

I think they are still on board with keeping Necas, this contract is show me what you got and then we will sign you long term, fences will be mended if he performs well.

Necas already nixed a trade to Jets, when does arbitration get done? It seems we are hamstringed until we get the figures for Necas and Drury

All the above players will continue to improve and I think a few of the new additions will surprise us, I'm not really down on this current group and Rod is a good coach [yes I said it]. We WILL make the playoffs and once in anything can happen. I'm ready to sit back and watch what will be an entertaining season. We had to retool and this should give us something to build on.

we can look at it this way - we have been a playoff team for 6 years and always came up short so we can do it next year with different guys and maybe Kooch can go God mode and we can make a serious run - [see Vancouver this year]

to me Saros is similar to Freddie, good in reg season and bad in playoffs, plus what do the Canes do with Freddie unless we ship him off with Necas. Only plus is see is Saros isn't injury prone and is younger. PantherChris, good points on Jake - seems like we are at least trying to retain him
