  1. I do hate the pick. RBs are a dime a dozen. A franchise center lasts a decade.
  2. At this rate the Panthers won't even be from North Carolina in a year or two. Put a sorry team on the field last year, then a sorrier team next year, raise the ticket prices, fans don't come, back up the moving fans and hello OKC, or San Antonio.
  3. Walker Percy once wrote: "Losing hope is not so bad. There's something worse: losing hope and hiding it from yourself." I'm tired of hiding it. "Panthers gonna Panther" is truer than ever. What did Tepper do after one of the worst seasons in Panther history? He hired a coach with no head coaching experience and a GM who had never run the show himself. In one of the first days of free agency this genius trades the best available free agent according to The Athletic for what amounts to a bag of magic beans, and then vastly overpays for a guard. I thought we were going to move all of our failed tackles to guard. Luvu couldn't leave town fast enough. I guess he couldn't play guard. “The whole thing is quite hopeless, so it's no good worrying about tomorrow. It probably won't come.” ― J R R Tolkien, The Return of the King
  4. You can't teach the Big Dog new tricks. I give Canales 27 games.
  5. Six years times 17 games... given Tepper's track record how many of those 102 games do you think that Canales will actually coach? I'm not optimistic.
  6. Carolina Definitely Chose the Wrong QB. Didn't you know they would? They're the Panthers after all.
  7. Tepper could strike a marketing deal with Hostess and name the team the Carolina Cupcakes. After all, that's how the rest of the NFL views us.
  8. If we dress up like clowns how will Tepper distinguish the fans from the players?
  9. Well, he certainly is used to running for his life behind that South Carolina "offensive" line. At 6'1" he's little taller than what we have now, but with a much stronger arm.
  10. Whoever we choose must be starter-worthy. We can't afford any misses or we'll be at this for two decades like the Browns or Lions. (We're already well down that road after recent drafts.) A solid center or linebacker might not be as sexy as a shot at a might-be wide receiver star, but it will be a solid building block for the future. Like many others, I can't see any flashy free agents coming here in the near future so we need to find some hidden gems. Every missed draft pick hinders our progress and every missed free agent limits our resources. Very little room for failure.
  11. And... Riley Leonard will be starting at Texas A&M.
  12. If you think about it, our linemen are better at run blocking than pass protection. Our passing game is about 4 yards per completion because none of our wide receivers can create separation and our quarterback, well... you know. Perhaps we ought to play to our strengths and run the old Single Wing. Get some big bruising backs, run the ball all the time and we might get a series of first downs and maybe even a touchdown. (You remember those, right?) If not, we use our All Pro punter or our reasonably reliable placekicker. Yes, we'd be predictable, but aren't we predictable now? Run, 4 yard completion, sack, punt or Pick 6. And think of the money we'd save. Young’s fully guaranteed $37.9 million contract includes a $24.6 million signing bonus. You could buy a lot of bruising backs and pulling guards for that. And, there aren't that many decent quarterbacks around. For every Joe Burrow there's a Jake Browning. Or an Aidan O’Connell, or a TIm Boyle, or a Tommy DeVito, or a Desmond Ritter. Haven't we tried Matt Lytle, Taylor Heinicke, Randy Fasani, Brian St. Pierre, Will Grier, and fan favorite Jimmy Clausen? Maybe an offense without a high-priced, underachieving quarterback would be an improvement.
  13. I am now positive that Scott Fitterer has made Marty Hurney look like a genius (and that's hard to do).
  14. We should start Big Red for the rest of the season. Maybe Bryce will be better when he gets out of puberty.
  15. Is Thomas Brown still on staff? I'm afraid his stint with Frank Reich is going to hurt his future possibilities in this league.
  16. Seriously, the aluminum foil on the rabbit ears brings the game in real nice!
  17. Robert Ingersoll once wrote that "Hope is the only bee that makes honey without flowers." For years the Panthers have tried to make honey without flowers, or in their case, without offensive linemen. Sure we had one or two good ones over the years, but when it really counted we didn't. I can still see Von Miller getting to Cam before the snap did. He lived in our backfield during that Super Bowl. When we finally invested a first round pick in Ickey I was excited but now I feel that we missed badly. We have to evaluate more than where a tackle went to high school (go Chargers). We should watch to see if he can he pass block. It's not looking good for our franchise tackle on that front. Like some of you I checked out years ago. I still see the scores, but Sunday I took my wife to the Italian festival in Matthews rather than watch what I knew would be another poor performance. It's hard to be a committed fan when you don't have hope and the Panthers haven't given me any honey or any reason to care for a long, long time.
  18. Imagine how bad this would be if we hadn't surrounded Bryce with "some of the best offensive minds in the NFL." Offensive has two meetings and I am truly offended by what I see.
  19. Perhaps if the Hornets aren't going to be good ON the court, maybe we could get someone who will be good OFF the court. Just a thought.
  20. Everyone has their favorite and the Panthers will make a choice between them. But have you noticed that Wednesday when they visited Stroud the media was "Carolina's gonna take Stroud." Today it was "Carolina's gonna take Young." Will tomorrow's headlines be "Carolina's gonna take Levis?" Whoever we choose tell me you won't be watching the Texan's highlights and stats to see if we made the right choice. The one thing I know about Panthers fans is that they are NEVER satisfied. Maybe this coaching staff will change all of that. We can hope.
