Yep, Olsen I agree that sucked but Harris was meh. FYI, we really really like Moore.
-
He may end up being cut but you have to hope the teams ahead of Carolina on the waiver wire don't snag him first. Bears will definitely be using their waiver position to add to the roster.
-
Based on what data? Why not let the guy play a season before you call him good or bad. BTW, Simms never said he was bad. He said he wouldn't have taken a guy his size #1 overall.

Who impressed and who sucked - preseason game 1
Bearzzz replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hence the "we shall see, just preseason" statement. All reports from camp have been saying they have had very good chemistry. Truth is, nobody knows how it will turn out, but I am liking what I am seeing & reports coming out of camp. -
Exactly, just preseason. Keep in mind the entire team is learning a whole new language and still thinking instead of reacting. First live action, learn from it and get better. This doesn't mean anything, they will be better next game.

We shall see. Just preseason. But that Fields + Moore connection looking very nice right now. -
Wow, give the young man a snap in the NFL before you write his entire career. Nobody knows how the season will unfold. He is a rookie that has to learn a new system along with his teammates. Mistakes will be made. Hope he will learn from them and continue to get better. No need to put this much pressure on the young man. Being the first overall pick is enough pressure already. Watch him grow & enjoy the season.

At this point in time, who feels like we lost this trade?
Bearzzz replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
It will take 2-3 years to see who won the trade. Personally, I am happy with it because I thought this QB class was just average. I am sorry but Young also wouldn't have been my choice if we had to keep and take a QB with the 1st pick. His size is just a major red flag for me. There has never been a QB his size to win a SB. Not saying he won't, just has never happened. I also wouldn't have been happy with already giving up on Fields. He still has to prove he can be a franchise QB. If he doesn't, Poles gave the team options with an additional first in what is expected to be a much better QB class in 24. -
Lol, I remember Moose. Let's hope we don't give up another great TE to Carolina. That trade was absolutely dumb on our side.
-
Lol, here is another one for you. SF game was actually one of the better ones. The guy is trying to stay in the pocket. https://youtu.be/7yz4SlvklcI

I am just telling you what I watched all season. The line was no where close to the top half of the league in pass blocking. I watched every snap. Agree you can put a portion of the sacks on the QB. But majority were on the line. Braxton Jones actually played very well for a 5th round rookie playing left tackle. But he had problems with bull rushes. Center Sam Mustipher was never able to hold up to nose tackles. Guards Whitehair and Jenkins were average. Jenkins mostly due to injuries. The right tackle Borom was horrible. The team would usually keep a TE or WR in to help block on most passing plays. Anyway, we will see if Fields is able to take the next step with an improved line. He actually had better passer rating and completion percentage than Bryce Young in college.

You have to keep in mind pass blocking win rate is simply weighing a linemen's ability to sustain their blocks for 2.5 seconds or longer. Does not take into account when a blocker is getting pushed straight back into the QB. As a person that watched every snap, I can tell you there was plenty of instances where guys were getting bull rushed into Fields.
-
There is actually a 5 page conversation on a batted pass? Sorry, I just had to see.
-
Agree but don't get me wrong, I believe Fields still has to prove he can be a franchise QB. Will he be able to do it? I don't know, but I like what I saw from him last season. He has this season to prove he can be a franchise QB. If he doesn't work out, the team will likely be in position for a high draft pick in 24. Doesn't hurt to have two first rounders either.
-
Lol, don't you know logical thinking has no place in the NFL?
-
We will all see, won't we? Keep in mind, they had the option to take any of the rookie QBs this year and still went with the QB that couldn't throw for 150 yards. But I am sure you know better than the GM.
-
We shall see. The thing is nobody knows until DJ gets some games in with Fields. If fact, you don't really know what you will get from Bryce Young until he gets in some games. He might be good or a BUST. Either way, it will be fun playing Carolina in Chicago this November.
-
Good point. Wasn't sure if Carolina was loading up on linebackers instead of D-linemen. Typically happens when teams make that switch.
-
I think Young will be fine making the transition to the NFL. How do you guys feel your defense will do switching to a 3-4? Not an easy change.

Thielen played 10 games in 2019. Possible their passing game may have been down because he missed 6 games. It may also have to do with Dalvin Cook's breakout year. He carried the rock 250 times. I am not saying Thielen was not a good receiver. I just wouldn't hang my hat on a 32 year old WR. Especially since his yards per catch have been on a downward slide since 2019.
-
Really? Please go look at Cousins stats. He is top 30 all time in passing yards and TD passes. Doubt any of the others you have mentioned would sniff top 100. Look, you might be right and maybe Thielen has a bounce back year with Carolina. I'm just saying odds are against him because he is already 32 and will probably see better coverage assignments without a stud on the other side.
-
I don't want to speak for anyone but to me WR1 is the top WR that gets the best corner or safety help assignment. Not speaking where they line up. It is what type of coverage do they commend. Are they a multiplayer, meaning do they require 2 on 1 coverage, giving the offense single coverage opportunities elsewhere.

Uh, I believe Diggs was on the other side.
