  1. Pretty obvious he’s right this time. Can’t dismiss that with name calling lol.
  2. ? He says at this time there is no agreement in place. Do you really doubt that? It would have broken by now if there was. Geesh. It’s kinda obvious.
  3. Now this I trust. He’s close to the sources here in NC.
  4. Here here, I’m with your on that. Have no desire to see essentially a retooling by trading away our defense. Get Tarasenko and stop there if we can. If not just stop, or if you must, take TDA and stop there.
  5. Agreed on the trade but not the money part. I said somewhere that the delay may be to see if Ottawa is able to trade DeBrinkat. Times running out I’m sure. Have little doubt the wait is because the Sens offer is bigger.
  6. I think this tweet sums up the decision Tarasenko has to make. Likely Ottawa has a better offer and maybe longer term vs going with the Canes and a chance at the cup.
  7. Waiting for the deal to actually happen before I slot Tarasenko lol
  8. So what I’m reading seems to indicate Tarasenko signing wasn’t a done deal yesterday. If it was we would have had confirmation by now or at least other sources confirming. Talk of Ottawa if they can move deBrinkat. Could be what’s slowing down his decision. Supposedly agent was talking to six teams at one point. A “sounds like” tweet is not a confirmation. I’m waiting for that. https://www.yardbarker.com/nhl/articles/amp/nhl_rumors_vladimir_tarasenko_and_john_gibson/s1_17076_38985732
  9. Just talked to my buddy Booger Thompson, he says Tarasenko is a 1 year deal. Booger is usually spot on unless he’s been drinkin’.
  10. I want to see an announcement. So far all the tweets are based off Shayna Goldman’s tweet (apparently has a good reputation @TheAtheletic) that said “sounds like”.
  11. Saw that, if true the question is what are we trading away?
  12. Similar rumor by some hockey writer Karlsson to the Pens
  13. He counts according to CapFriendly. His cap is listed and they dropped Canes available cap from ~2.8 mil to a little over $2 mil to account for his cap hit. I’m no expert just what I saw there. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/hurricanes
  14. Ooh hasn’t thought of that, right we just had enough cap for tonys $2.5mil before Mendel signing. Still I guess all kinds of trades could still be made. But it ain’t gonna be Karlsson. Nope.
  15. I’ll be taking a lot of crap if we make trades and pick up Karlsson. But sometimes ya gotta call it like you see it. Yep.
  16. Welp, just dropped our cap space down to $2mil with the signing of Mendel. Given it would take trading players and every penny Canes have to get Karlsson this lends further evidence we don’t go that route. Also Frank says (who the hell is Frank lol. Looked it up, Frank Seravalli a sports reporter) says Karlsson is not a fit for the Canes. Frank and I often agree haha.
  17. Mendel at 6’-6” has that Staal long stride speed.
  18. We’re not getting Karlsson. There, I said it. Feel free to make fun on that infinitesimally small chance we do haha.
  19. So you’re saying we’re counting on our defense to score because or offense often doesn’t. Just like last year, haha. Bunting should help the offense and maybe we get Svech back early. If I were a betting man, and I am, I would bet the chances are near zero we spend big money on a shitty defensive player like Karlsson because he can score. I say that based on we picked up Orlov and that’s a good add. Excuse the ornery, haven’t had my coffee yet.
  20. What the Canes do regarding Pesce is based more on contract negotiations with his agent than GM wanting to trade him to get someone like Karlsson. He’s certain to get more money as an UFA after next season so if they can’t come to an agreement Canes will want to trade for value while he’s still under contract. https://theathletic.com/4627056/2023/06/21/hurricanes-pesce-contract-trade/?amp=1
  21. Just sitting back and thinking it all over. If we make no other trades we’ve already improved on both offense and defense with Bunting and Orlov. And if we get DeAngelo at half price that’s not a bad deal either, can provide some offensive punch or a scrapper from the blue line when we need it.
