My 1st period observations - Canes fortunate to be a goal ahead with that puck bounce. Jets have had too many clean looks at the goal, we aren’t defending our net that well, fortunately Freddie has done a good job stopping pucks. Hopefully next period we send some pucks home.

We need healthy players first of all. Played without Svech and Chatfield tonight against NJD. We need scorers. Svech, Aho, Necas (in a breakout season)are exactly that, they need to step up. Ghost was a good add, I expect more good things from him. I want to see Puljujarvi get more time and see how he develops. I liked seeing him on the Aho line, maybe they can rekindle the chemistry they once had. Im just not ready to write this team off yet despite two bad games with no pucks in net. I still think that this is a better team than last year. We need to work on passes! Some poor passing tonight and several bad decision blind behind the back passes (and a couple good ones). And Raanta is our best chance in net, Pietr is still learning.

Don’t disagree we need a scorer. Just saying Timo hasn’t shown he would have been our ticket to the Stanley cup at this point and Ghost has been a good pick. If you can’t read the stats I posted I can’t help you lol.

Well you’ve mentioned Timo in the past. Timo 1 goal 0 assists with the Devils in 5 games. Ghost 2 goals 2 assists with the Canes on 6 games. Just saying our trades weren’t totally worthless.

Maybe so, but note that so far Timo Meier who we would love to have had, hasn’t done Jack.D.Squat for the Devils in this game. He has 1 goal 0 assists in the last 4 games with the Devils - now 5 games counting this one. Ghost has 2 goals and 2 assists in 6 games with us.

Some good shots coming now, surely we get one in net soon.

We’ve had more than a couple of grade A’s but those shots don’t have any zing to them. I don’t know if the guys are just too tired but lots of slow easily stopped pucks.

Rod and assistants need to draw up some actual scoring plays that others have used recently against the Devils. Real strategy vs slinging the puck to the net from the left corner or blue line and hoping it sneaks in. There, I said it. Coaching. And good solid consistent goalie play.
