  1. God that hurts right now. We could have gotten a solid TE with pick 36 or even traded up to try and get Kincaid or LaPorta who went just before. I love where it mentions we have multiple offers for DJ and Burns but weren’t trading either. SMH, could have come away with 3 firsts and pick 36 in the past draft. Instead DJ is a throw in so we only owe a 2025 2nd instead of a 1st and we can’t really add many weapons due to key draft pick deficits.
  2. I don’t want to make you feel worse but Miami made a lot of vet trades for picks. They traded for Hill because they got rid of Fitzpatrick for a 1st and Tunsil for a couple 1sts and a 2nd (sound familiar?). One of those firsts ended up being the pick the 49ers traded 3 firsts for and the pick we should have had if Rivera hadn’t started Haskins for a week only to release him. Anyway, while we are minus all the picks for Young, Miami used their tank pick on Tua and then used all the picks received in trades to rebuild their team and make trades like Hill. We are in the same spot except we traded away a bunch of picks and our offensive stars and didn’t trade our defensive guy for the bounty.
  3. Just watch Survivor. I thought their casting had changed recently to cast train wrecks for the ratings. Now, I’m thinking that’s just how it is now. They ousted a nerd (not derogatory, I watch Survivor and Sci-fi/fantasy), who loved Survivor. Dude said he was good at puzzles and he was terrible. His physical ability was 0.0 and he made it to week 2 because a therapist couldn’t hack it on day 1. It is sad to watch.
  4. I don’t want it and personally, I hope we pull off a bunch of wins even if they are all luck and bounces. I just don’t want to see the Bears using our top pick to turn their franchise around. I would still laugh though because it would means we would have been better off with Rhule. The irony alone would make some heads explode in here.
  5. The image stuff is crazy. You could already photoshop well enough, but that Google Pixel add showing the instant photo changes makes you wonder if anything you see will be real. It will be pretty sad when a large chunk of the world will be 100% online. We thought the pandemic was bad for mental health, man it could get far worse.
  6. Geez, Tepper is the new Rhule boogeyman. Never mind the horrible GM, coaching and play, Tepper’s making every move now mate as of Rhule. I guess Fitterer and Reich need a few more years to show what they can do without meddling. SMH.
  7. Of course he’s involved. He owns the team. He also wanted Fields over Horn. None of those things happened, so while involved, your examples and mine seem to show that he doesn’t appear to shove moves down his GM’s/coach’s faces. Who gives two shits if he’s involved if he hasn’t made anything happen against the football folks wishes? Of course the team got worse. Hurney and Fitterer have not been good. Our drafts have been awful. Do you think Tepper made all those picks and trades?
  8. Best part, he was picked after DJ Johnson who may get his second tackle before he turns 25.
  9. Also, you are completely jumping to conclusions. Even if the offense looked different with Dalton. That absolutely 100% does not mean that Reich intended to run the offense with Young. Do you think the Raiders took Jamarcus Russell or San Diego took Ryan Leaf or Detroit took Joey Harrington with the intent to not have him start and run the offense? Lack of success <> mean the offense was meant for someone else. The Colts fired Reich because he didn’t work out. Maybe, just maybe Reich and Young hasn’t worked out like they intended.
  10. This is what he said and he even said he didn’t like AR. "I think it's going to be a very, very surprising pick in Carolina," Davis said coyly. "If this pick happens, who I think they are in love with, I'm not a fan of it. I just know there are a couple of guys upstairs that are enamored with the physical ability of Anthony Richardson." Enamored with the physical ability? Every team looking at QBs would be enamored with that including us. The teams that didn’t like Cam were still enamored with his physical ability too. There’s no question at all that AR had the best physical ability of all QBs. I have no doubt that AR was our second choice, but it still doesn’t mean that Tepper forced everyone to take Young or that Reich’s offense favors AR. Reich inherited Luck, but he chose Rivers, Ryan, Wentz, Brissett and even Foles as a backup. Those guys don’t scream AR as a rookie. They scream Dalton/vet QB. Based on all of our evaluations, I’d say a super processor fits that mold better because they assume he sees the field like a vet. At least that’s what they thought and said. The results <> the intention.
  11. Really? Please post the links on that. All I recall hearing is that Reich liked AR as his 2nd best. As @LinvilleGorgeposted above, seems like Stroud was out early. I think we liked the CPU in Bryce and the athleticism of AR and the CPU won out.
  12. SMH. It’s amazing to me the hoops that people go through to convince themselves. Also, even if Frank/Scott made the pick and were happy with it, that doesn’t mean they weren’t wrong or that Frank’s done a poo job. They just came out and said they were simplifying the offense for Young, which means they screwed up for a variety of reasons or that Young isn’t doing the right thing. Dalton is a decade long vet who doesn’t need a skimmed down playbook and that’s why it looked different. Still does not mean Reich didn’t ever want Young.
  13. Ok. You’re just being really stubborn. Do you really think they told Reich to call it like a marriage proposal to make sure people didn’t realize that Tepper told Fitterer that he had to pick Young over Stroud which made Reich sabotage the season? Sometimes the truth is right there out in the open. Panthers didn’t need to spin anything at that point. It was all roses. The spin has been happening since we looked like trash against the Jets.
  14. Those articles were before the draft. What was there to spin at that point? We had top pick and could do exactly what we wanted. At that point the fans and team were excited because our true need was a QB.
  15. Read the article I just posted. It wasn’t just PR spend.
  16. I’m not happy with Tepper because he’s made bad choices but damn it’s getting annoying when people are ignoring stuff like this and saying Tepper forced it. I think Tepper was excited like fans and even regurgitated what he was sold and his pissed that we appear to be way worse than Rhule or Wilks.
  17. Below is not typical PR spin. This is from the second link I posted and has Tepper nowhere near the process. Fitterer said last week he had waited to ask Reich who he preferred at No. 1 so that nothing would cloud either decision-maker’s judgement. But on Monday Fitterer finally walked into Reich’s office and popped the question on who he prefers — and both agreed on the same QB. “It was kind of like a proposal — and I said yes,” Reich joked Tuesday. “But there is consensus and we are excited.”
  18. Technically we weren’t in the room but damn if these threads aren’t ignoring the mountain of articles that Frank and Scott did to laud themselves as collaborators and as go getters that moved up to the top pick. This wasn’t PR spin. Frank and Scott basically said we’ve been watching Young for years and that they all agreed he was the guy. Look at this article: https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/charlotte/news/2023/04/25/panthers-reach-consensus-on-who-ll-be-no--1-pick-in-draft#:~:text=1 so that nothing would, consensus and we are excited.” Fans were pretty damn excited that we got the pick because it seemed like we were finally serious about rebuilding around our next Cam (#1 overall pick). Seems like now we have all this spin because Scott and Frank appear to have driven this team into a ditch and both turned around the Chicago Bears and made the 49ers SB contenders.
  19. Stop it with the if they were forced. Scott and Frank had a damn love fest for Young. Frank even called it a proposal. They both got interviewed about it and I think it was Scott that said they told each other at the same time after the evaluation and both said Young. They even mentioned that Young was on top at the start and finish of their evaluation. Here’s one of many articles that basically said everyone wanted Young from the start through the end: https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/.amp/gm-report/what-scott-fitterer-frank-reich-said-about-bryce-young The Tepper forced their hand poo is just BS. Reich has sucked as a coach so far and Fitt has sucked as a GM. Simple as that.
  20. Yeah, I’m not getting the Reich wants to get fired and didn’t want Young BS. The dude didn’t know Theilen wasn’t on the field and said there was a miscommunication that led to TMJ not playing at all. WTF? Reich said we should be going for the playoffs and said he wanted Young. Now he’s some sort of savant who’s trying to trick Tepper into firing him. I’ve watched the games and Young is a rookie, but at no point have I felt like Reich is a good coach. I wasn’t a fan of Rivera because there were some things he didn’t do well and he counted on his players to bail him out too much and the lack of preparation hurt us in the SB. That said, his teams never looked this bad and it wasn’t until Cam was clearly hurt and Ron was on the hot seat that his teams quit. We are 5 games in and this team barely feels like they care.
  21. What? Sorry, but that article says nothing other than Tepper isn’t sitting back and saying nothing as we are about to go 0-6. It says nothing about Young at all. There have been articles quoting Frank and Fitt talking about how both of them agreed before their evaluations and after that Young was their guy with no mentions of Tepper. I’m sure it’s not fun for Frank to explain how shitty they are because Tepper, rightly so, watched Wilks go 6-6 and after trading away the farm we look way worse. I think Tepper is very involved but I don’t get why people think he’s making the calls when we’ve got past examples of him not getting his way (Fields) and tons of articles about Frank and Scott’s love fest for Young. I mean we were fed the decades of QB development on our all star staff and fed all the stuff about Young being so far ahead. Just because Tepper regurgitated the point guard story that either Frank or Scott told him, doesn’t mean Tepper ran the QB evaluations. That story felt like a 100% exactly what Tepper heard when he likely asked are you sure we should trade DJ Moore. If I was an owner who watched CMC flourish and get to the NFC Championship, I would absolutely ask why we were including DJ Moore.
  22. Only Horn went down week 1, so honestly, I think we’d be 0-4. Heck Horn misses more time than he plays so that wasn’t even a surprise.
  23. Right there with you. We had a freaking perfect opportunity in 2020. Within 3 years Brees, Brady and Ryan were all gone. We had 4 comp picks coming our way that year and a chance to roll up cap savings for a splurge after we got our rookie QB. We had a chance to pile on picks as well through vet trades but we tried to have our cake and eat it too. Unfortunately, Rhule and Fitterer (the next year) were the wrong guys but we had a window and we didn’t take it and we continued to act like we were close and we wasted 4 years already and appear to be in bad shape with no 1st next year. Sucks.
  24. Same with Fitterer. I think, unfortunately, some folks, including him, were so anti-Rhule that he didn’t like questioning the current amazing staff. Rhule became such a boogeyman to some even thought he’d already been fired. We got into heated discussions about Fitterer as I thought he should have gone with Rhule.
  25. I think Tepper wanted a rookie after missing out on Fields (bunch of reporters mentioned Tepper wanting him), but from the other articles it sure seemed like Frank and Scott were in lock step on Young. I think Tepper’s not real happy right now. He may have been all in on Young because he knew he was the pick or maybe he really wanted him as well. Who knows, but the articles leading up to the draft and right after sure don’t paint a picture that Frank and Scott were forced to pick Young.
