Can’t tell you how much grief I got for saying our depth is poor, even before our most of our offensive weapons confirmed our worst fears (only Theilen has exceeded). We gave up a 2nd, 4th and 6th for Darnold, a 5th for Mayfield, a 3rd for CJ, a 3rd and 4th for Corral, 3rd and 4th for DJ Johnson, and DJ Moore, 2 2nds and 2 firsts for Young. All those picks were traded/used in the last 3 drafts. That’s 2 day 1 picks, 6, yes 6, day 2 picks and 5 day 3 picks in 3 off-seasons with Fitterer and not one of the players we got can be labeled as above average. Throw in the fact that we used CMC’s picks for Young and DJ Johnson and it’s easy to see how we created a massive talent hole.

Honestly, outside of Dallas, at Jax, at Miami and at Detroit, we had a pretty cake schedule. I think that’s why everyone expected us to improve from last year.

2020 was the perfect time to truly rebuild. Damn, we fuged that up.

Reich handing over playcalling to Brown
WhoKnows replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Gotta remember, Tepper is El Diablo. You are correct about this, just like the dozens of articles talking about how Frank, Fitt and the scouts were all on the same page with Young. -
Reich handing over playcalling to Brown
WhoKnows replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Depends on if Tepper is the one you hate the most or not. If Tepper is the devil, it was Frank’s epiphany that Brown will be better for the team than Tepper telling Frank what plays to call. If Tepper isn’t the devil, it was during one of the meetings with Frank where Tepper asked him why he hadn’t handed over play calling to Brown and Frank had no answer except maybe it will be better. -
Reich handing over playcalling to Brown

And were told a bunch of lies like we wanted to be vanilla because we think we can win the division with our first two games are NO/Atl and you guys just can’t see what they are trying to work on so the poor play calls are exactly what we were trying to do. I wonder where that @Gerry Greenfella went off to as we got to 0-6. Also, I really hope we do see something. I’m worried that it’s still going to be the Theilen show. -
True and we are also pretty bad at valuing the talent we keep over the talent we let go.

Well, at least they give you a handjob for only $5 after bending you over for $8k.

PJ 1-0 Chosen 5-1 CMC 5-1 (only loss to PJ) Baker 3-2 Reddick 5-1 DJ 1-5 Record sucks but #5 in yards and #2 in TDs for WR Heck, Kyle Allen, Daquan Jones and Gilmore are looking good for playoffs.

I agree. It shows complete and utter ignorance on roster building. This off-season was literally about RBs and how they are getting stiffed and not paid at all. The elite RBs are being forced to take franchise tags. Along comes Fitterer who signs a 4 year deal for the highest FA RB money to a guy who benefited from being on a great team, which realized they could replace him for pennies on the dollar and did.

He still has his supporters in here who are now on a it’s all Tepper or Tepper’s wife’s fault movement. He’s been terrible since day 1. I have no doubt Rhule was influential on decisions but those crappy reaches with trade ups and terrible signings while wasting money have carried on without Rhule. Dude has single handedly traded away almost two drafts of value plus CMC/Moore for Young, CJ, DJ Johnson, Corral, Darnold and Baker. He just didn’t want to get 3 firsts and 1 second last year for Moore and Burns. SMH.

Brian Burns statline: 2 tackles, 0 sacks
WhoKnows replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
It was amazing. Floyd is $9M this season and will likely be a but more than half of what we pay Burns longer term. I’m glad for Moore looking great this year but we should have traded him for Green Bay’s 1st last year as well compared to the pick swap (2nd instead of 1st) we got this year. We lost a ton of value by waiting and trying to win our putrid division. I wanted to make the playoffs because hell, we didn’t do any trades but even if we made it, we get stomped by Dallas like Tampa did. -

How much is Burns out snapping YGM? What’s the comparison per snap? -
I was thinking that watching that game. Former Panther QBs are 4-2 and we are 0-6.

This is one of the games we could win. No idea if we will but Houston isn’t Detroit or Miami.

Brian Burns statline: 2 tackles, 0 sacks

2 1sts and pick 36 in the last draft. It was such a good offer Also, for those of you who always say edge rushers are so hard to find, blah, blah. Just like Reddick was a FA a couple year ago like Judon as well, I’m watching Leonard Floyd who has 6.5 sacks this year after being released by the Rams this offseason. It’s really not as hard as people think and the rest of the bounty would have been nice for Young to get some weapons. -
The difference isn’t just the order. We wasted the opportunities we were given to get 3 1sts and 1 2nd for DJ and Burns. Miami got rid of Tunsil and Minkah when they were hot and got full value. The vets we are looking to trade barely play right now. We aren’t getting the same deal for Burns and DJ was a throw in so we could trade our 2025 2nd instead of a 2025 1st, which is a lot less than getting a 2023 1st for him. Fitt completely blew the opportunity we had last year. Instead we traded just CMC for peanuts because SF went on a tear after getting CMC (shocking SMH). Now we have a much worse team and we don’t have the valuable players to trade and we have Thielen and no one else on O. Our OL is still extremely suspect too.
-
Not to rub salt in the wound but we also gave up CMC for the most part as well. The best pick we got for CMC was included in the trade up. We basically got DJ Johnson with the rest. It really could be DJ Moore, CMC, Jalen Carter (or whoever at pick 9), Caleb Williams (or a bounty) and the 2025 2nd for Young and DJ Johnson. We gave up a poo ton, unfortunately, when we didn’t have the talent level to do that for a QB that wasn’t clearly a future stud.
-
The Miami tank worked just like the Bears last year. Miami even won some meaningless games so they took Tua at 5 but that huge Tunsil trade was the backbone (traded one of the 1sts from Tunsil for 3 1sts from 49ers) of their rebuild. This forum would have freaked if we gave up a star LT for picks but Miami is now a consistent winner because of it.
-
Exactly, we'll do some half assed effort again like Chinn, TMJ and Donte for 7th rounders. It would have been nice to get 3 firsts and a second for Burns and DJ instead of throwing in DJ so we lose a 2nd instead of a first. If we would have gone hog wild we might have avoided giving up the 2024 first.

Lol. It sure seems like a lot of CYA going on now. Everyone is playing hot potato. People close to Reich are saying it’s not his fault that the team he said would be a playoff team is sucking balls. Sorry, I’ve watched the games and the play calling is awful and the roster decisions are terrible (Fitterer). I’m not blaming the owner’s wife lol.

Really? From Wikipedia: Dundon wasted little time in overhauling the Hurricanes' front office. On March 8, 2018, the team announced that general manager Ron Francis had been moved to the role of president of hockey operations.[31] However, Sportsnetreporter Elliotte Friedman reported that the "promotion" was likely in name only, noting that there were rumblings Francis and Dundon did not see "eye-to-eye".[32][non-primary source needed]Subsequently, coach Bill Peters resigned from his position on April 20, 2018,[33] to pursue a similar opportunity with the Calgary Flames (he ultimately replaced Glen Gulutzan as the Flames' head coach three days later),[34] and the Hurricanes officially fired Francis from the organization altogether on April 30, 2018,[35]leaving vacancies in both the head coach and general manager positions. Wasnt Ron Francis a pretty big hockey guy? The Hurricanes made the playoffs in Dundon’s first full year and every year since. It’s easier to be more hands off when you make the playoffs every year. That’s not the Panthers who had a flash of hope to end last year and are now worse than they were with Rhule at the helm.

1 out of every 32 teams is the worst in the league. Of course it’s not normal to meet up that much but how many other others were convinced by their HC and GM that playoffs were achievable and that their best two offensive players were expendable, their not extended edge rusher was worth as much as the first pick in the draft and that we should trade up now. It’s funny that people use Tepper’s point guard pressed as though he forced the Young pick and that he thought Moore was expendable. I see it as him restating what his chosen HC and GM told him. Tepper is not coming up with that on his own and it’s obvious now that he’s very upset because he was sold a bill of goods and we ended up the worst team in the league. I still blame him for not letting Hurney go with Ron, same with Fitterer. I just find it funny that some of the heaviest posters are loving this blame Tepper stuff because their lauded HC and GM again look like their decisions weren’t their fault. Amazing.

Albert Breer on Panthers trade deadline strategy
WhoKnows replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
That list won’t net us much at all. The only deal they should be making is getting what the Rams offered for Burns, which may be a pipe dream now. -
Albert Breer on Reich, Tepper, Fitterer and Ben Johnson
WhoKnows replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I did and it’s a bad analogy. If Reich and Fitt were doing their job well, you could have a point. They aren’t so it’s a bad analogy.
