SMH, it’s a joke that he’ll be way better when he leaves us. Also, he really won’t be cheap per game in the end. He’s basically played 1 year out of 3. Even if healthy year 4 and year 5 (5th year option), we’ll have played him about $11M per healthy year. If he never gets hurt his rookie deal and 5th year would be about $6M a year.
-
Still amazing that the Bears gave away pick 32 for Claypool only to give him away a year later for moving their 2025 7th to a 6th.
-
It’s not even that, it’s a swap of 6th for 7th so Miami in two drafts will just move down a level. Heck, it’s likely that the Dolphins 6th is late in the round and the Bears are early in the round.

Panthers GMs Draft History After Round 1 (Analysis)
WhoKnows replied to Jay Roosevelt's topic in Carolina Panthers
@Jay Roosevelt Do your numbers include all the picks we traded away? I know Hurney and Gettleman did have an occasional trade up but they never did as many trade ups as well as trading draft picks for vets, which makes no sense for a team with a max of 7 wins in 6 years. -
Panthers GMs Draft History After Round 1 (Analysis)

Yeah, he certainly hasn’t duplicated Schneider’s success, especially at QB where Schneider was the guy fighting for Wilson. Maybe Scott thought that Carrol was his Wilson. -
Panthers GMs Draft History After Round 1 (Analysis)
WhoKnows replied to Jay Roosevelt's topic in Carolina Panthers
It was the 6th, and there was a day 2 graded G sitting there who is now starting for KC right next to the best young C in the NFL who we should have drafted over TMJ. We had a poo OL at that point. You take every higher ceiling risk at OL in day 3 over any other position considering our OL issues. So bad. -
Jeudy is the most realistic option says PFF (& bye-bye to Burns)
WhoKnows replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ve been on the tank train since Lawrence. It was so obvious what we needed to do. I was told we can’t do that and it never works, just have to trust that the FO will do the right thing. Those same people seem to be missing now as we are now the worst team in the league and the most talented player we would have had will be playing for the Bears alongside Moore. -
Jeudy is the most realistic option says PFF (& bye-bye to Burns)

This is what worries me. Pick 36 (a good rookie TD) and two more 1sts we turn down but we do Jeudy or some other non-elite WR for Burns? FML, time to root for the Bills again and CMC/DJ. -
Why would he take the job? It sure seemed obvious we were going for a rookie after years of vets not working out. Heck add in Frank’s retreads and that’s 6 vets that did nothing but lose.

JFC, the CYA already happening now is ridiculous. Man, it’s really a huge kick in the nuts to us fans watching what we all knew were mistakes. Tepper was a fan of Fields as we’ve heard but he didn’t make anything happen. I don’t think he’s done a good job of retaining and hiring but I don’t believe for a second that Frank didn’t have a hand in the decision. We heard how Scott and Frank said the same name before and after all their evaluations.
-
Do you really think he came up with that? He clearly is just re-stating what he heard Frank or Scott tell him. Think about it. Scott was likely saying that to make it make sense that we got rid of CMC and Moore instead of trading Burns for way more than we got. I’m sure Tepper enjoyed watching the guy he wanted (Fields) light it up with DJ on prime time.
-
He’s not the guy, but let’s be honest. Frank and Fitterer said they both agreed on Young before and after evaluations. I know Tepper didn’t come up with the point guard example. That came from Frank or Scott. If Tepper is upset at the results this year according to Bailey and asking for change like a WR1, then I think Tepper was sold a bill of goods by Scott and Frank. Remember Frank’s playoff talk? Tepper may be a clown but reading in between the lines and realizing he’s not coming up with point guard analogies, it seems like he’s upset that getting rid of Rhule and doing all of the off season moves has made us worse. Scott hired Frank and they’ve been tied at the hip and right now it looks like the fuged poo up royally. It was one thing to see CMC do well because he was an expensive RB and we hadn’t used his picks. It’s another to see Fields (who Tepper wanted) look good on national TV throwing to DJ who looks better than he ever did here and be reminded that CMC is at an MVP candidate level while we struggle on offense.
-
So your saying Horn is going to be a pro-bowler on whatever team we trade him to as well? I honestly think CMC wasn’t hurt that bad at all in 2021. He missed a few games early and didn’t appear to get hurt when Miami dusted us and they put him on the shelf again because we were done. I’m not sure if he could have come back in 2020, we had another epic collapse so they weren’t going to play him. McCaffery had some injuries (nothing serious) but if it was 2013-2017 when we were an honest to goodness playoff contender, I’d bet good money he would have missed a lot less time. That’s why I don’t think there was any worry in SF that he was probably going to be fine.
-
We have officially become the Browns of years ago. They are definitely trolling us because it’s embarrassing what we’ve been doing the past few years. CMC is an MVP candidate, DJ is now elite and multiple QBs we had available to us are looking like they all have a good future in front of them.
-
It does. Watching DJ go off for his best career game and Bears 2nd best game ever and seeing them mention the pro bowl and then showing a CMC snippet of him setting 49ers TD record and mentioning pro bowl again just hurt. Watching Fields seem to come into his own now and saying that he’s doing it because he finally has his elite WR like Brown and Hill just hurts as well. My joke hot take that Frank would make us miss Rhule appears to be happening and that really stings.
-
And pick 9 this year and a 1st next year and a 2nd this year and a second in 2025.
-
Unlike CMC, I think Horn will come back because TBH, I think Fitterer is going to do as much as he can to not finish worst. If we traded Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, CMC and a 2025 2nd for Young (oh and the immortal DJ Johnson) after we have a dismal season, Fitterer likely believes he’s fired and he’s likely correct.
-
I agree and I worry as well. I know people say not to worry about the height, but if you look at the interceptions he threw week 1, Bozeman was engaged with a DL right between Young and the WR. I think it was the first one but it made me feel like he couldn’t see abates at all. If his view is a problem and he doesn’t have a cannon, that could be a big issue. The cannon would allow him a fraction of extra time to get the ball where it needs to be while seeing more. You are also not the first talking about his footwork. He might not be able throw a 35 yard dot without his feet being properly positioned.
-
We gave up a bit more value for Darnold and heck we almost gave up as much value for CJ Henderson. Darnold was our higher 2nd round pick (38 and a higher 4th/6th) and Henderson was a high 3rd round pick (70). The 49ers gave us late round picks which totaled a mid round 2nd pick (best pick was 61). We basically got CJ and Darnold for twice the value we got back for CMC. Here’s the funnier part. We basically used up the same cap space for CJ and Darnold as we would have for 2 years of CMC. SMH, we are stupid.
-
Agree. People are missing the anticipation, i.e. throwing a WR open or getting rid of the ball before the WR is finished with the route/turns. If you wait until Theilen is deep in the end zone it’s way too late. The other thing that disturbs me as much is the throw at the end of the play. The DL knocks it away out of bounds but Thielen is blanketed at this point running to the corner and Young tries to throw it at this point when no one is open. That ball should be thrown out of bounds at this point so you avoid the sack and the interception. He doesn’t throw it anticipating Thielen’s route but he does throw it in desperation. Just an FYI, I don’t believe this was 4th down, where forcing a throw doesn’t matter as much. Pretty sure we got sacked on 4th to end the game.

In every year of what should have been a rebuild starting in 2020 after Cam, Luke and others were gone, we have spent to the limit. We still haven’t done anything with Burns aside from dismissing a team changing bounty. We don’t have next year’s 1st or the year after’s 2nd. Going 0-17 would be the worst, albeit really ironic and almost funny. Nothing to do but realize we’d hit rock bottom and it was time to start fresh after starting half fresh 4 years in a row. We’ve had Teddy, Sam, PJ, Baker, Dalton and Young all start in 3 years and 4 games and we traded up for Corral. Remember those Browns fans’ shirts with the list of QBs they ran through? We’re making our way.
-
Not having a pick where we could get one of the top rookie QBs in a strong class would 150% be a kick in the nuts. We’ve traded away 1 1st, 3 2nds, 1 3rd, 3 4ths, 1 5th and 1 6th in the past two drafts (and future) trying to build instead of rebuild. We look like a bunch of morons for not trading Burns and maybe not extending him and now for possibly trading away the top pick in the draft.
-
Since Cam’s arm officially fell off, we are 23-55. That’s an average of 5-12 for almost 6 full years and we are missing a 1st and 2nd round pick in the next two drafts while we state we don’t even have a real weapon for our rookie QB. Our OL has taken a step back and the best offensive player is Adam Theilen by a mile. That’s why we are frustrated with this 0-4, likely 0-6 start.
