  1. Imagine having multiple early day picks where we could get not only one DE to replace Burns but another DT/DE as well. Both on rookie contracts. That is how you build a super bowl winning team and ensures you aren't over paying for talent for a 5-6 win team. Think about it. Burns just had 12.5 sacks and we still miss the playoffs and barely churned out 7 wins. Our run defense AND pass rush is still a problem. Now we are about to commit a large % of cap space to a guy where it doesn't matter if he has a good or bad year stats wise. His IMPACT on each game is what matters and Burns impact on a play to play basis is so God awfully low compared to other top DEs in the game. Burns is NOT someone you build your defense around. He's a luxury addition for a team on the cusp. That is not the Carolina Panthers. Signing him to a multi year extension at the $$ it will cost is 100% not the move to make. Best bet is trade him for w.e day 2/3 picks you can get come draft time
  2. You can't honestly believe Jim Harbaugh is cut from the same cloth as Matt fuging Rhule
  3. The problem is we are going to have to pay him like a top 5 DE when he isn't. Trade him for picks get some younger players to fill the void and they could possibly develop into better all around DE's than he is currently. He is a pass rush specialist and nothing more. The contract he is going to demand is not going to be worth it for a team that is in the position we're in
  4. Yea we're in a tough spot if we can't get at least a 1st. Anything less would feel really bad but it's better than handing out a max contract that pays him like a top 5 DE or letting him go for nothing. Will be interesting to see what happens
  5. He is a very replaceable player on our defense. Luvu and others have shined and shown up in more big time moments this season than Burns has. There is still a chance he is dealt this offseason although I don't see us getting the original haul we could have gotten. He is NOT worth franchising or handing out monster $$ too. Maybe if our defense was more complete it'd be nice to have a guy like that but he is 1000000000000% not someone you build your defense around
  6. And how many teams have we lost to that we should have beaten over the last 3 seasons? Doesn't matter. Any Given Sunday in the NFL. People don't remember or care who you played. How many people try to make the excuse Tom Brady only has as many rings as he does because he's played in cupcake divisions his entire career? That argument just doesn't hold weight like you think it should
  7. Is this game really not going to be flexed? It could be Tom Bradys last meaningful game he plays. Of course if the NFL is planning on rigging this game (I'm sure they will try) they probably don't look at it like that. Now if we beat the Bucs and the Saints somehow beat the Eagles next week's game should definitely be a prime time game in a winner takes all match for the South. If we beat the Bucs and lose to the Saints who is getting in if the Saints lose to the Eagles this week if we end up with the same record?
  8. Maybe he's finally figured it all out and we can sign him in the offseason since he will be looking to go to a place he can start
  9. They were the team featured on Hard Knocks this year. I thought it was pretty good and only reaffirms that I think Campbell would be an awesome HC to play for
  10. Stats are for losers but thanks for your contribution
  11. Any of the other DE's on the roster was more than capable of doing everything Brian Burns did for us today. Not trading him for 2 1st rounders keeps looking worse and worse for you Burns huggers
  12. Marquise Haynes or any other of the back up DEs on the roster are more than capable of doing every single thing Brian Burns did for us today. Not trading him for 2 1st rounders is inexcusable at this point
  13. This year? I think Cam has made peace with the fact that he is not playing this season. Now depending what happens with our HC, the draft, and free agency in the offseason I could see a possibility where Cam signs next year
  14. More like delusional Carolina Panthers fans that think we should hand out massive contract extensions to players that aren't worth it. It's the Carolina Panthers way and it's funny to see Marty Hurney's spirit is alive and well living through you guys on this board. Just wait until we hand Burns that massive extension and he goes back to doing what hes best at, disappearing.
  15. Has nothing to do with hating him but moreso the fact that we are going to have to pay him top 5 DE money when he is not a top 5 DE. Teams game planned against Peppers to try and eliminate him from the game. They actually had to worry about him beside just rushing the passer. Teams love game planning for Brian Burns. It's a free 5 yards every time you run in his direction
  16. I'll say it again, Burns is a good not a great player at this point in his career. He reminds me a lot of Mario Addison except we rely on Burns to play a lot more. Paying him like he's a top 5 4-3 DE will be a huge mistake. Not trading him for 2 1st rounders was also a huge mistake if that was a real offer because he is NOT someone you build your defense around
  17. Burns is not elite not sure what you people are watching on Sundays. He's capable of having a few good games a year but largely disappears through a good chunk of games. He's also a liability in the run game. How can you be considered elite at your position but are only good at part of your responsibility as a 4-3 DE? That makes no sense. Should have traded him. Handing him a monster deal is going to be a huge mistake
  18. Head coach forsure. Drafting a QB high does not guarantee he will be a franchise player. Imagine if we tanked on purpose and drafted someone like Zach Wilson with the 1st or 2nd pick. Even Trevor Lawerence looks suspect. He's having a better year than his rookie year but still doesn't quite look like a #1 pick could be better in the future though. Zach Wilson looks horrible though and It'd feel pretty bad if our top 3 pick at QB plays as bad as he has
  19. That's a cherry picked stat. Cool but its meaningless. Burns has yet to take over a game like a true franchise player at the DE position. Solid player but I wouldn't call him a blue chip piece, he's capable of having good games but will go long stretches where he has absolutely no impact on the game we've literally witnessed it every year hes been in the league. Look at derrick brown for instance. Every game he makes his presence felt/known other than maybe the Bengals game. BTW Reggie White has the most sacks by a player through their first 4 seasons in the NFL at 70.
  20. Winning a few more meaningless games might actually do this team a favor. I don't see young or stroud living up to top 5 draft pick status. Blessing in disguise this win was
  21. The Carolina Panthers are 24-49 since 2018.
  22. I'm sure he deleted those after the game. No way he'd want to remind himself of that Epic Failure
  23. Go Mccaffery get you a super bowl!!!
  24. Did I say NFL teams deserve extreme optimism? Show me where I said that lol you people are so mentally strung out and delusional on this board its actually hilarious
