I'd put him similar to what Mac Jones did his rookie year (3800 passing 67% COMP 22 TD 13 INT) 3300-3500 passing comp 63-65% 22-25 passing td 8-12 int

Sometimes converting short yardage is more than just run it up the middle with your biggest guy. Tom Brady is the king in converting short yardage QB sneeks. Was he the most physically gifted QB? Of course not. I'm sure with the collective football IQ that now resides on our offensive staff that they will figure it out. Just have to wait and see.

Round 1 - The Carolina Panthers Select Bryce Young - QB - Alabama
Mr Mojo Risin replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Best of luck to Bryce and this coaching staff. Hopefully this regime is the most successful Panther regime to date -
That has nothing to do with what I said. And Cam took this team to the playoffs 4 times out of 8 seasons his 9th he was hurt for 14 games. We are lucky we won that much with the way we built around our "Franchise" Qb. Cam was consistently asked to do more with less the only other QB you can argue that has had to do that would be Lamar Jackson. We will be lucky to draft a QB that has a similar drive, work ethic, and passion for winning as Cam Newton did. Incredibly lucky.

Exactly. I dont have a horse in the race but if I had to choose one, give me the one that hates to lose just as much as Cam Newton did

Why I believe the pick will be AR-15
Mr Mojo Risin replied to philw5289's topic in Carolina Panthers
Too raw for him to go #1 overall when there are better prospects available. He may have the highest "ceiling" in your opinion but that does not make him the better prospect coming out of college. Let me see you do it in college before I believe you can do it in the NFL. He hasn't thrown for 20 TDs in a single season in college. Does that mean he can't do it at the NFL level? Of course not but there is no guarantee he can either. At least with the other QBs their numbers and play align more with a #1 overall prospect more than Anthony Richardson's does. -
He doesn't have to be able to throw as hard as Cam but arm strength would be more of my concern over the injury prone argument when it comes to his size
-
Mine would be the velocity at which they can throw the football. There's no way a 5 10 Bryce Young throws a faster ball than a 6 5 250 pound Cam Newton. I just worry about Youngs arm strength not being adequate enough for the speed of NFL secondaries

Ron Rivera hints he "didn't mesh" with David Tepper
Mr Mojo Risin replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes this is true, but you can also now say that all of those decisions has now lead us to Reich and our new #1 pick at QB which could set us up for success for the next decade plus. Hopefully it was all worth it. -
Baltimore has John Harbaugh and a solid defense. There's still plenty of time for them to find some pass catchers with the draft and the rest of FA. I'm sure they can do better than Damiere Byrd and N'Keal Harry as his opening day 1 & 2. As far as starting positions go Baltimore looks to be the most open with all the questions surrounding Lamar right now. Cam signing as a back up he could go to multiple situations where it could have been beneficial to him I was only talking about possible starting opportunities come Training Camp.
-
Baltimore would probably be Cam's best chance at a job if they think Lamar won't play for them this year
-
I'm more curious to know what happens if our #1 pick wants to wear #1. It's not retired and should be allowed to be worn again correct? Idk how I'd feel about that.

Bryce Young will be the best QB ever in Charlotte
Mr Mojo Risin replied to Diehardpanth02's topic in Carolina Panthers
If only Cam had that 2003 OLine blocking for him...and a Moose/Smitty in their prime with Proehl working out of the slot instead of Jericho Cotchery/Philly Brown/Ted Ginn. Cam probably would have broke SB records too. BTW this thread made me not want Bryce Young for whatever reason and I'm very torn between him and CJ. I have this feeling we might shock the entire NFL with a curveball -
FWIW I hope he has an amazing season and ends up panning out for us beyond this year.

You can definitely say TMJ has potential but I definitely wouldn't consider him untouchable. I'm sure they have him slotted in as one of the top 2 or 3 guys right now but if he doesn't show anything during OTAs and TC I think he's easily replaceable at this current moment
-
I don't believe any of those guys are safe. The only ones safe at the current moment are Thielen and Chark. The guys who were here before this staff got here are all deemed replaceable. With Preston Williams we have 6 WRs on the roster. We could still add through FA, draft, other cuts that will happen this summer, etc. There will be some major competition for the 3-6 spots come OTAs and TC. If I was a betting man I'd wager the 6 we start with Chark, Thielen, TMJ, Smith, Shenault, and Williams will not be the 6 we end with come week 1.

If only more posters had this same mentality we'd have a whopping 0 topics to discuss on an online message board during the offseason. Quality post.

Live video of Fitterer / Reich making the trade to #1
Mr Mojo Risin replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Clickbait thread title, sort of hate that. However, I did watch this movie the first time the day before we made the trade to #1. Talk about deja vu -
Chinns problem is he doesn't cover very well in space which is what you need your DBs and even LBs at times to do. That limits the amount of packages and roles he will play in. It is something he can become better at it just depends if the coaching staff thinks he's worth it or not. Time will tell unfortunately we still have a long offseason ahead of us and he can be traded or released (not likely to happen) at any point.

Looking at Success or Failure of top 10 to 12 QBs since 2000
Mr Mojo Risin replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
IMO, Carson Palmer was better than average. 14 seasons almost 50k passing and 300 TDs. By far better than average -
Can definitely see Luvu take on a variety of roles. In the 3-4 the ILB blitz a lot that's why you see people prefer size at 3-4 ILB versus a 4-3 MLB who you want to patrol the middle of the field. Luvu may be a bit undersized but that hasn't stopped him from making plays near the LoS and in the backfield. I can definitely see him moved around a lot, same with Chinn. We have a lot of versatility on defense between those 2 players alone. I could see their uses differ from week to week depending on who our opponent is and their tendencies

Unfinished Business (Second most cap room in NFL at $30m)
Mr Mojo Risin replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just have to remain patient. We may not see what our completed roster looks like come TC and roster cut time. We could always wait and trade for a WR sometime this summer before the season begins as well. Our coaching staff isn't going to panic they are going to wait and get the right guy just have to continue to trust that they know what they're doing. They've done an amazing job so far.
