This is week one of the preseason. Not the regular season which you seemed to be confused about. The goal is to evaluate and learn about different individuals in different situations. Not to win and "kick the opponents ass" at all costs. We didn't scheme anything like they did. That is what the Regular Season (which you keep referring too) is for. The fact that these comments were made in the preseason, about PS players, like they somehow "have the edge" over us because the guys they are going to cut played better than the guys we are going to cut. They also had the luxury of having played a preseason game already so its no surprise they were the more comfortable team. The comments which were made more than once were completely unnecessary and I'm sure Frank Reich would have chosen different wording had the situations been reversed

This along with the hard knocks episode makes me wish nothing but the worst for that team this year
-
That was rough. Just have to pray it isn't a sign of things to come.

I just hope this was the reality check this team needed. Maybe now they will understand that as good of a coaching staff as this is, and as good of a roster this has the potential to be, they will have to work for it. Nothing is going to be handed to them for free this year they're going to have to earn it from the top down. Hopefully they understand that now. Thankfully it was week 1 of the preseason and not week 1 of the regular season we still have some time to get things ironed out.

Official Jets at Panthers Game Day Thread!
Mr Mojo Risin replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Would like to see at least 3 series for the offense as far as the defense goes I'd get the young guys some rotational experience. Idk if I'd play either of our starting CBs although it would be good for the entire starting unit to get some reps together -
Carr reminds me a lot of Stafford. It will take the right situation surrounded by the right play makers to make any noise in the playoffs. So far he's been a solid regular season warrior at the QB position will that change with NO? Probably not Dennis Allen is no Sean McVay I see them being a solid team this year though and we will probably split our games with them this year. As far as who will win the division, like always in the NFC South it will be a crapshoot.

Going to depend on two things 1. How well will we stop the run compared to last year. I don't see us being worse but how much will it be improved by? 2. Our CB depth. Right now we see a lot of Chinn covering the slot as the 3rd CB. How well will he do in this role? He wasn't the best when asked to cover in space the last couple years but maybe the coaching and scheme change will help him flourish. I could see us getting picked apart (like most NFL secondaries) if our rush doesn't get home or at least cause some disruption in the backfield. Henderson and the other CBs not named Jaycee Horn seem very shaky to me. Even Donte Jackson has question marks coming back from a very significant Achillies injury. How well can we expect him to play? Lots of questions still need to be answered we'll see what happens.

Definitely a rough start for Stroud. Imagine this place if Bryce has similar struggles tomorrow, yikes! I remember Cam looking sort of out of place his 1st preseason too. The young guys just need time. Remember to temper expectations because again, its preseason!!!

Chris Fowler's Notes from Panthers Training Camp
Mr Mojo Risin replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
I also had this sentiment for most of last season + this offseason but seeing how Burns has emerged as a leader and is potentially ready to take that next step I'm glad we kept him. We have a bunch of young guys with question marks already. If we traded Burns we'd have more of the same and probably the worst pass rush unit in football. Pay him. -
Peter King: Carolina’s New Brain
Mr Mojo Risin replied to PantherMan89's topic in Carolina Panthers
It feels good to be able to cheer for my team again and not feel bad or a sense of hopelessness. -
I think CB is our most concerning position as far as depth goes. (OLB too but that's been improved with the Houston signing). We are 1 injury away from having the worst CB unit in football. And not to double down on that but both of our top CBs are earning the injury prone label. Not the best position to be in in a pass happy league.
-
I think he needs reps they don't want to have to rely on him playing a significant amount to start the season. Hopefully he plays a lot during the preseason and we can get a good look of where he's at
-
He definitely made the right choice getting out from under Rhule. If that same scenario happened with our current staff you'd have an argument
-
It's nice to have a reliable vet so we can continue to bring the young guys along slowly. Also helps with depth. Can never have enough guys rotating along the dline to keep each other fresh
-
Totally understand I ultimately feel the same way

Its hard to predict how precisely an NFL career will end up going for any player. The only correlation I was trying to draw was that even though he's 24 its not like we need 10+ pro bowl years out of the guy. We just need some good/solid starter potential for about 4 or 5 years after he develops (hopefully for us and not another team) and he will have earned his draft slot.
-
To be fair in the grand scheme of things a 24 year old rookie isnt the worst thing in the world. We just need him to hit a window where he's a solid -> good level starter for us for about 4-5 seasons that seems to be about our average on DEs. Even if it takes him a couple seasons to hit that window lets say by age 26/27. Lets take a look at two rotational players that played for us and ended up turning into solid starters for 4-5 years. Charles Johnson was a 21 year old rookie and took about 3 seasons for him to come into his own (age 24 season) he contributed at a pretty good level for us for about 5 seasons (age 28) and then he fell off. Mario Addison was a 23 or 24 year old rookie as well. He didn't come into his own as a starter until his age 29 season. Up until this season he was a solid rotational piece at best. He hit his window around age 29 (5 seasons in the NFL up to this point) and lasted at that level for about 4 years until he was 32. Hopefully it doesn't take that long for him to develop into that 4-5 season window with this coaching staff (no guarantee he ever hits a window where he's a solid starter) but they definitely saw something in this kid to trade up for him. Praying it pays off for us.

We won't know what type of player he is until the bullets start to fly. Especially with dlineman and olineman it's hard to see what type of player you have until they are on the field playing for real

This is sad. Why is this not live streamed in the year 2023 where everything is live streamed. Whats the point of having a Carolina Panthers YT channel? This is the only thing I've been able to find. Really sad.
-
Anyone know if this will be live streamed?
-
Agreed it was a good watch for what it was and who they chose as QBs to follow around.
-
Better than overpaying for an Edge that gets all of his "12.5" sacks in garbage time and disappears/misses key tackles when it matters most. I'd take my chances on a young guy with a high motor on a rookie contract for 5 years than I would bet on Burns to become a well rounded DE worthy of a $100+ mill contract. He is literally Mario Addison just 4 years younger.
