UPDATE: CHARLIE CAMPBELL HAS CHANGED THE PROJECTION OF THE PANTHERS SELECTION. HE NOW PROJECTS JALON WALKER TO GO TO THE RAIDERS AT 6. HE PROJECTS MYCHEL WILLIAMS TO GO TO THE PANTHERS AT 8. 6. Las Vegas Raiders: Jalon Walker, OLB, Georgia Pete Carroll has always placed an emphasis on drafting pass rushers and addressing the defensive front seven. Las Vegas could use linebacker help as well. Having Walker at Sam linebacker could be similar to Carroll using Bruce Irvin as a Sam in Seattle, and give the Raiders a pass rushing trio with Maxx Crosby and Tyree Wilson. Walker is also a high-character leader who will help the culture reset under another new regime in Las Vegas. Walker is a dangerous edge rusher for the Bulldogs, showing speed and athleticism off the edge. In 2024, he had 61 tackles with 6.5 sacks and two passes broken up. Walker had five sacks as a rotational player in 2023. The 6-foot-2, 245-pounder is too undersized to be a base edge rusher in the NFL, so he will have to be a linebacker who rotates to rush off the edge in the subpackage. 8. Carolina Panthers: Mykel Williams, DE, Georgia The Panthers need a true replacement for Brian Burns. Williams gives them a talented edge rusher that also has size to defend the run. In 2024, Williams had 21 tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles thus far. He missed the month of September with an injury. Williams totaled 16 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two passes batted in 2023. As a freshman backup in 2022, he recorded 4.5 sacks and 28 tackles. The 6-foot-5, 265-pounder has a lot of upside and an excellent skill set. Team sources feel this is one of the most difficult drafts to project in many years. Teams picking in the middle and late in the first round say it is very difficult to confidently project who will be on the board when they pick. The lack of top quarterback talent and a lack of elite prospects for the top 10 are why this draft is more difficult to predict for teams and the media. However, one pick that is said to be all but a done deal is the Carolina Panthers taking Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker. Walker fills a need for a pass rusher and is also a culture fit for the Panthers’ regime. Perhaps the Panthers are being very discreet about their true intentions, but team sources feel that Walker to Carolina is a borderline lock for the first round. from Charlie Campbell

General Draft Rumors/Speculation Thread
SaltAndPepper replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
For me the Top 8... or so is pretty much set 1. Ward 2. Hunter 3. Carter 4. Campbell 5. Graham 6. Membou 7. Warren 8. Walker Raiders (No. 6) and Saints (No. 9) will be the true inflection points in this year's draft. -
God forbid this is the way the Draft shakes out

Just so people get the scenario... there is no good offer to trade down. Assume the phones aren't ringing. Whoever we draft, we draft at 8, reach or not. -
Assuming this is the way the draft goes and we can't trade down, who do we take at this point?

Charlie Campbell changed his pick again, this time from Stewart to Walker. This time what's interesting to me is that we pass on Mason Graham (goes to the Cowboys at 12) and Mykel Williams. Could Charlie's source finally have left the building and now he's throwing darts? Or does the organization not know who they want?

Looks like Charlie must've gotten some new information... Keep in mind he has had our first round pick right for a while

Now, for those who don't know, Charlie from WalterFootball.com basically as a source that's allowed him to basically know who our pick is going to be for the last 4-5 years or so (if I can remember), so I track what he says about us. For the last 2 weeks, it seems he's finally focused on a player for us, and hasn't budged in his last three mock drafts... so... welcome Mykel Williams? Plus, Dan Morgan did say the following... “Yeah, I don’t think we needed the Eagles game to understand that,” Morgan said with smile. “I think, both sides of the ball, you have to win the line of scrimmage. You have to be bigger, you have to be tougher, you have to be more physical—and that’s what we’re looking to do around here. “We’re looking to build that defensive line like we built the offensive line last season. Give the fans a good product on the field, give us a good product on the field. And we’re excited. We’re excited about the guys in free agency, we’re excited about the guys in the draft, and we think we can fill some of those holes.”

The Carolina Panthers are hurtling towards threats of relocation
SaltAndPepper replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
do people realize he can't move lmao he has his soccer team here. How awkward would that be to relocate the team and still operate out of charlotte with his mls team? lmao -
Should the Carolina Panthers extend Diontae Johnson?
SaltAndPepper replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not quite. doing it again when it hasn't worked before, now THAT would be a panthers move. Not like it hasn't worked before. Who have we last signed or attached a year extra onto his contract before... oh... checks Sam Darnold Notes... oh dear god -
