Brown just needs to be announced already.

If this were to happen, I would die a happy man. WR can be had in FA the top options did not outweight BPA imo. LB is a weak position and instead of going cheap get some solid talent that also can play ST. RB is deep in this draft but this kid can run with power and spee. Mayer dropping to the 2nd is a godsend and Trenton Simpson could be our next anchor at LB for years to come. Trading up to 3 for Stroud cost a pretty penny but how the other chips fell were more than worth it imo. I realize I went heavy on defense but at the end of the day I feel offensively we are solid and a few vet pieces could really take us over the top. The defense has potential and honestly has the best pure talent but not the depth or the man power for a proper transition to 3-4.

Honestly wouldn't mind this at all but alas this is too cheap for a team like the bears to accept. They will most likely want a second instead of the third this year along with the future third becoming a second also. That still would be fine as long as we get a hell of a motherfuging QB for this.

QBs as we have known them over the years are changing but are Offensive staffs in the NFL really accepting the athletic capabilities of these new generation of QBs or trying to fit a square peg into a round hole? Looking back at the talent of the last few drafts vs now seems to show a trend that we have yet to see many teams willing to implement. The talent pools of QBs was at it's worst last year by a wide margin. Kenny Picket being picked in the 20s is way off track from what the "draft experts" had been pushing the narrative on for months. I wont even get into the blatantly erroneous prediction that Malik Willis was a top 10 pick. The last few years have seen more athletic QBs rise and being coveted more often than the tradition pocket passer. The NFL is moving closer to college style play and requiring those mobile QBs more often. The main issue with this is not all OC are capable of truly preparing these young men for the level of competition they will see. Defenses aren't as likely to carry a team to and through the playoffs as they used to but they can neutralize a lopsided game plan or trait. We saw in the SB the Chiefs D adjust to Hurts ability to extend the play or get out of the pocket and basically turn into a RB. We had 10 years of watching a feeble attempt at transforming an NFL offenses to cater to an athletically inclined first QB first hand and also got a glimpes of what causes counter productivity in the growth and expansion of having a mobile QB. The staff we had with Cam had a chance to create something great, instead they only hindered Cam's overall development and put him through beating after beating each time we faced our opponent. Which brings me to my point. The NFL as a whole is afraid to start over with an empty slate to properly position a "dual threat, mobile, run first, athletic" QB for sustainable success. The are constantly trying to either balance or just run specific but obvious plays to cater their abilities. The potential factor of these QBs have made teams reach and make huge mistakes when trying to realize and implement their potential, look at what the 49ers gave up to get Lance and clearly that is not going to work out as hoped. As the league stands a QB that is a pocket passer by trade but can create on the move or ensure they are not just a statue is the best to build around but I feel with the right innovations a QB in the mold of mobile first will thrive and be come a force once the right offense is created for them. This has yet to be seen properly but I hope with all the innovative talent we have coming in we can see the next great offense like the RPO, Air Coryell, Air Raid, WCO, etc.

FOMO is why last year's class was pretty bad. Like looking back at the mocks vs where they got drafted a lot of "pundits" shoud've been brought down a few pegs or lost their job/credibility. I see this class as being marginally better but not many world beaters. We will see how it plays out but I still like Corral but I do like Stroud marginally better, and that is only because of his percieved cost vs where we draft.
-
If we are even considering him I would be kind of upset. Matt Corral is bigger and more mobile. Yes, Bryce is more accurate based on what we have seen but running RPO, bootlegs and PA does not always require pinpoint passing. I feel Corral would be a cheaper more feasible option if ut came down to it. I am not saying he is the best QB option at this point but I do not trust BY's longevity at all.

The back and forth about whether to sign a FA QB or go all in for one in this upcoming draft is the hot topic of the off season and will only be more constant once the combine approaches. I for one am torn, cost vs need, which is the best way to approach an obvious outlier. Yes we need a QB but is the cost to get a perceived franchise QB worth it, especially with this class coming out. Yes, Stroud, Levis, Young and even Richardson are all enticing but are any really worth what it may cost to obtain their services. An option in FA like Carr could be had and give Reich an oppourtunity to reinvent him in hopes of harnessing the potential that's always been there. The cost of Carr (upwards of 25 million a year at a minimum of 3 years) could be safer if we think we need more time to properly build this team, but would mean a lot more pressure to hit on Day 1 and 2 picks to compensate for the cap hit of one questionable player. Are we one player away from winning it all? Is this draft really the one to fully vest in a QB? I feel the combine and pro days will give us more insight to the direction we decide to go depending on how the market for Carr plays out. We could run with a vet and see what Corral really is about. We could surprise and get a QB in the draft and FA, who knows. All I know is while the focus has been solely on this postion, I have been praying to the football gods that we finally solidify the TE and LB positions. The last time we saw this team successful those position groups were some of the best in the league and I hope that we can get back to that sooner than later!

As time passes I'm starting to like the idea of trading up for Stroud more and more. In the next few weeks we will see what QB will start to separate themselves from the pack to be the clear number 1 or they all might continue to be lumped together as all #1 overall possibilities. This is worst case scenario for us to leverage a trade. I really hope something happens to cause his stock to drop like not going to the combine or only doing certain drills or even only a pro day at OSU. Everyone and their mother really thinks Bryce Young is the best and thats fine, let them think it. Let him go first, hell let the potential of Levis go right after him, but for the love of god we need to find a not so costly way of getting the poise of CJ Stroud behind our line like yesterday!

What's even crazier is the most "NFL ready" might have been Howell and the Commanders seem to think they have found the second coming of Kirk Cousins for themselves in the process.
-
Last year was by far the worst speculation vs reality of draft picks for QB's I have ever seen.
-
It's going to be Brown. With his knowledge of Mcvay's system there's no reason to not want to bring him in and help add more to the playbook. This staff has a lot of SB potential, it just needs to be realized sooner than later.

Lol naw just trying to be realistic about all options. Being too biased and having a jaded view of one option can leave you hanging out to dry if it doesn’t come to fruition. Being able to pivot no matter the scenario but stay true to the end goal of how to build the team is what I feel is best.

https://deadspin.com/frank-reich-jim-caldwell-nfl-black-coaches-1850113932 This cornball ass ***** keeps trying to push this overly black empowerment agenda and try to poo on the Panthers at every turn. Man nobody reads your articles trying to preach this affirmative action coach hiring bs. Can’t stand black folk that make the rest of us look like nincompoops.

That’s what makes me think we are going after Carr. Who Reich did make an attempt at getting before with the Colts. I won’t lie I like Stroud but at what cost. We can be a contender with Carr and the right BPA picks in this draft. Corral still hasn’t shown us his true self and he could wait in the wings for 2-3 years and possibly become what we had hoped a QB capable of guiding us to wins. If we don’t think Stroud is possible or the ask to move up for a shot isn’t worth it Carr honestly isn’t a bad secondary option.

Would you trade 9 for Fields - straight up?
TJKJ23xx replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
He does not process the field well at all. Every game his team has had a chance to win or tie he found a way to press and turn the ball over. This has become a common theme with him. You can get lazy and blame the weapons he has and coaching but it’s also on him. I like Stroud much better and if we can’t or don’t think we could get him Carr might be the answer this year and feel out Corral longer. -
I’ve seen him any where from top 15 to early 2nd but yea he looks like he will be the next cream of the crop WR in the NFL.
-
If we go Carr 3-4 years max and really give Corral a good long look the next two preseasons. I honestly want Stroud the more I see and read but the cost to get him might not be worth it.
-
Zay Flowers looks the best imo but Johnston has the most potential if he can put it all together.

I have been trying to dissuade myself from thinking the QB of the future has to be drafted this year. Yes, next year will have more sexy options in Drake Maye and Caleb Williams but there is one QB in this draft I hate to say has really been growing on me. I feel CJ Stroud could be great if drafted in the right situation and I think the Panthers finally have the staff to make that move. If we have to trade a future first and second so be it. Everything I have seen from him the last two years being a Michigan fan and how he guided his team to almost beating UGA really shows me how poised and un fazed by pressure he is. Really delving deep into every break down only shows issues with his game that can be course correct by coaching. You cannot teach his ability to stay calm under pressure or his athletic ability he uses when needed rather than rproperly progressing through his options. I have yet to see him be the sole reason his team has lost a game in any film I have watched. I just have a feeling that he could be what finally gets us over the top and I hope trading up to 1-3 nets us him no matter the cost.

Quarterbacks win championships
TJKJ23xx replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's a mix honestly. Not all Franchise QBs can or have won. It's a mix of coaching and QB neither fully outweighing the other. 50/50 split. Mahomes being a few tiers higher than his peers surely helps but he is an anomaly. Reid has been one of the more successful coaches of our time. 2-2 in Super Bowls now with both losses being to Brady aint too shabby. -
That supposed bs holding call makes up for the bad call when Smith caught the ball then fumbled. That was just as much bs as this was supposedly. Stfu about the reds controlling the game.

Looks like we are building something special here boys!!!

Crazy to think people would be so quick to forget what they once thought was bright and shiny. The moment it gets a little tainted and no longer seems like the perfect unknown, everything changes in an instant and nothing good could come from it anymore. I haven't given up on the kid but all my eggs were never in that basket when we got him. Still deserves a fair chance though.

Ron had his 3rd string and some back ups in a decent amount made the team and PS. Let alone he put Howell in with the 2nd string for a few of his series. Yes Corral looked bad but who didnt under that coaching staffs direction.

@kungfoodudeI was piggy backing and adding my layer of opinion to it and involving you for your retort. Not arguing your point at all.
