I said at the time that whoever made the decision to bring in Darnold should be fired immediately. Who made these QB decisions? Rhule? Fitt? We know that Rhule had nothing to do with the trade to get Young. Young likely will be a good NFL QB. But...trade two firsts and your best receiver? No. A mortgage your franchise QB? Again, no.

I have no idea what kind of career Sam Howell will have. That said, anyone who watched Sam Howell play in college AND watched Matt Corral play in college and decided to draft Corral...well, that person should not be involved in any NFL personnel decisions in the future.

I'm not saying that one day Young will be a good NFL QB. But from what I've seen, I don't think he will be good enough that warranted what the Panthers gave up for him. I'm no longer a Fitterer guy. That said, the Young trade was likely not his. That was the owner's decision to continually put together bad deals in a desperate effort to find a QB. The past four years, they've done something stupid in the offseason trying to find the QB messiah. Right now, Fitterer is looking worse than Hurney. At least Hurney made some great first round picks. I have yet to see a great first round pick by Fitterer.

Being objective: He looks like yet another impatient, over reaction by the owner. One panic move after another by the Dave Tepper to find a QB. Bridgewater, Darnold, Mayfield and now Young. Young may be a solid NFL QB. But a franchise QB that you trade Moore, your 2023 1st Round pick and your 2024 1st round pick to get? NO! He's not that. Four years of "trying to win now" instead of just sucking for one season and building from square one. And now, if this is the season they do suck and go 2-15...they have no First Round pick. The experts said last January: There are no franchise QBs in the 2023 draft. But, once again, Tepper had to have his damned QB. To win, you HAVE to be patience, something Tepper will never have.

No, and there are others who don't have elite accuracy. What he did have was a once-in-a-lifetime body that carried him for...a grand total of FIVE seasons. He started breaking down in year six BECAUSE he didn't have elite accuracy. He was great...at running. When he lost that, he was no longer great. Young looks like he will have a solid career if he can get with a team with some weapons. As far as pure talent, Young just doesn't have Drake Maye's God given gifts.

To be great in the NFL, a QB has to have elite accuracy. For instance, Brees is small but had elite accuracy. Maye has elite accuracy. Young never has. Most who paid attention before the draft, knew this already.

I beginning to think/believe the Fitterer hire is the equivalent of organizations throughout the league who have attempted to use New England as their blueprint. That is, hiring away NE coaches and executives expecting NE magic. When, in fact, there is only one Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Fitterer, as we know, came from Seattle. And we are seeing that you simply can't dupicate Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson. Bottom line: It looks like Fitterer is nothing special.

Who was his dad?

Changes to the Panthers behind the scenes staff

How about the last 25 years. This organization has never had back-to-back winning seasons and it's David Tepper's fault? I have no idea how the Reich/Fitterer partnership will work out. But to the owner's credit, he has done what needs to be done the past six months -- spend the money it takes to try to put together a solid front office. There are no guarantees. I'm hoping it works out. -
This is a response to several who are saying the Richardson has the highest ceiling and can be developed. I have no idea how good he will be. But I am sure of one thing: elite accuracy cannot be developed. It's God given. He may develop into a really good NFL QB. But he will never have elite accuracy.

Where have I said there isn't a difference? I know the ACC sucks. I too wish he had transferred because I think he's gonna get hurt behind UNC's line. But none of that has anything to do with his raw talent. Accuracy, Athleticism, Intelligence, Toughness, Height, Competitiveness. Yes, he's at the wrong school. But he'll be a Top 5 draft pick next year. He'll shine at the combine

I've been going to games for a long time. I remember when I was in college in 1977, I went to the Final Four in Atlanta. UNC's Mike O'Koren had a career game against UNLV scoring 31 points. That ONE game on the national stage paved the way for his being an All-American from '78 to '80. I saw nearly every game in his college career. The point: He was good but not that good. That ONE game stayed in the minds of people nationally who didn't see him game in and game out. His NBA career proved he was an average player. The question: I saw a lot written about Stroud in the fall, people saying never take an Ohio State QB because of their NFL track record. There were lots of questions about him in the fall. Then came the Georgia game and the question is: Is that who Stroud really is? Or, did he simply have a career game on the biggest stage, like O'Koren?

Schefter: Tepper likes Young, Reich likes Stroud

I thought Hurney was also involved and Tepper listened to him at that point in time. -
Agree. Cam, Lamar Jackson, Fields, etc. Great players. But due to their running, short shelf life. Rather have someone who is an elite passer who can run if he has to.

I wasn't too impressed with Steichen's play calling

The Eagles scored a grand total of three points in the second half...until the very end. The OL that dominated all season, for what ever reason, was a no show in the second half. Hurts had no time to do anything in the second half. -
UNC went 9-5. Without Drake Maye, likely 3-9. Nearly everyone who watched every game, which I did, says the same. He has all the tools. What he lacks is an offensive line and a coaching staff. Dropping in the draft next year won't happen.

You left out Andy Reid vs. his old team. They will talk about that 'til your absolutely sick of it.

Do you trust Reich to find us (and develop) a franchise QB?
Hogan replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wilks should have been Day One: We are going offense. All winning did was screw getting a QB. My guess is Stroud will be available at 4, 5 or 6. -

Agree. Same with Bill Walsh with Montana in Round 3. But...I do believe that Andy Reid drafting Mahomes was Reid recognizing something others didn't. And then developing him. It CAN be done.
