Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
CamWhoaaCam replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Interviews matter people. Steichen probably is not a vocal guy. He's probably not ready to become a HC. Im thinking Wilks will be the guy when it's all said and done. -
Why is mediocrity so attractive?
CamWhoaaCam replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mediocrity is what you will get when you don't have a franchise QB. Everybody naming different coaches. A coach can help but you need to get said coach a franchise QB. Our #1 priority should be trying to trade up for Young/Stroud or going all in on Lamar Jackson. You can't really do anything in the NFL without a franchise QB. -

I hope so. Im fine if we hire him im just saying we need more weapons to be successful and a new QB as well. -

He flunked to you. Im sorry but if you go 6-6 with Sam Darnold and no weapons besides DJ Moore on offense you get a passing grade in my book. Im starting to think people just want change just because. Wilks didn't have much to work with on offense and he did a pretty good job leading this team. -

You also forgot 2 #1 WR's, a top 10 rb, and the best Oline in football. Don't ignore the roster he has. Those guys are loaded he's just making the right calls. Those calls might not look as great with a lesser roster. Just sayin... -

Exactly. People want the shiny new coach who has a great roster. Not realizing that roster wont be coming with him to Carolina. What we know about Wilks is he can take a average QB and go .500 Who's to say he can't improve with a better QB? Be careful what you wish for people. Those coaches look good because they also have a loaded roster. We don't have that in Carolina. Just sayin... -

It's never a good idea to rush a major decision. There is no need to rush we have plenty of time. Just make sure we hire the right guy this time. Rhule set us back big time. -

What's the rush? Season hasn't even ended yet. -

He is literally on tv for 1 segment that last 20 seconds. And I see him on The Herd every now and then. He's not a big asset for them to be demanding a pay raise. -

What makes Steichan the guy? Did you ever look at the situation Steichan is in? Do we have a Jalen Hurts at QB? Do we have 2 #1 WR's? Do we have a top 10 rb? Do we have the best Oline in football? These are the resources Steichan will not have if he takes this job in Carolina. Sell me on Steichan please! -

Its going to be hilarious when he turns us down and goes back to Philly. I don't think people realize our team isn't that attractive without a QB. -

Wilks was 6-6 my man. I don't understand the Wilks hate on this board. Going .500 with this roster was pretty much the best we could hope giving the circumstances. Are any of those other coaches doing any better with Sam Darnold leading the charge? -

So how do we upgrade the roster with our 2 1st rd picks going to New Orleans. Im surprised so many people want to trade our picks for Sean Payton and be left with no impact players in the draft. Like make it make sense? -
Im serious.lol
-
I have a feeling if we go WR we probably are going the veteran QB route. Carr/Jimmy G
-
The picks we would have to trade affect our roster and building the team. Sean Payton is a bad idea. We don't even have a QB.lol
-
I agree. I don't think we reach on Levis or Richardson. This team needs more weapons on offense with the loss of Cmac. Getting a WR opposite of DJ would be the best value pick imo.
-
And Payton had Drew Brees as his QB during the majority of that time who was the best QB in the division. He never dominated the NFC South. He's really living off that 1 SB.
-
If you give a coach 30mil a year you deserve to fire yourself. Im still laughing that he wants 20mil a year. Like dude you have 1 SB on your resume. Saints weren't dominating the NFC South. It was a new champ every year.lol Sean Payton is just trying to make a power move he wants the most money and total control. Whoever hires him will regret it.
-
That's true, but he was still was good enough to get the #1 seed. We would be instant favorites with Rodgers in the NFC South. It's also much easier to get players to come to Charlotte than it would be in freezing Green Bay. This is pie in the sky though. I just thought it would be cool to think about.lol
-
Thanks for the heads up.
-
So is Tepper dumb enough to trade 2 1st rd picks for Sean Payton with no assets to go after a QB? It just doesn't make sense imo. Our #1 priority should be getting a franchise QB.
-
That's nonsense! He threw it well in college. The dude just doesn't have time to throw. He's running for his life behind that Oline and his WR's are trash. The kid is in a bad situation and he's still showing you signs that he can play. You can't tell me he wouldn't be a threat behind our Oline and with a WR like DJ.
-
They wouldn't do it just for #9. Maybe #9 and a future 2nd. Either way we would be crazy not to call them. If Young measurables are decent 6ft 185 and has a great pro day they might consider taking him #1 and using Fields for more draft picks to fill out their roster.
