As someone who played TE in college it is much easier to get open as a TE than it is as a WR. You shouldn't be comparing TE's to WR's as they are completely different positions. TE's don't get jammed like WR's do on a consistent basis. TE are facing slower LB's. It's so easy for TE's to find a zone in a defense. It's why the position is becoming more of a threat to a offense. Im glad these guys are getting more attention as they can become huge threats to any offense.

Look at the QB. We have Sam Darnold. Of course we are going to ground and pound. Give him a legit QB and im sure the offense would change. You can only play to your strengths.

Mayer wasn't even the best TE in college football. The generational TE is in Georgia. Brock Bowers. Mayer is good but he's not generational imo. Pitts was supposed to be generational and he hasn't looked all that great as of yet.

Washington is too talented to fail imo. A guy that size and that athletic could become a major threat with the right coaching. If nothing else he has shown you he is the best blocking TE in this draft. He would help our run game even more. I honestly see no downside with Darnell Washington.
