BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
CamWhoaaCam replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It must be the messenger because they poo'd the hell outta me. People don't understand positional value. We just drafted a RB in the 2nd round which was very questionable. Why on earth after you get off the the Sanders contract would you go back and pay Chubba after you used a 2nd to draft another RB. It just makes no sense! We investing in the RB position for 3 straight years. Just dumb to keep doing the same thing continuously. RB is the least valued position on offense. Their success depends on the Oline play. Speaking from experience I played RB. I wasn't elite obviously but I played at a competitive level in highschool. A RB is nothing without his Oline. Don't pay those guys big money. -
BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard

So why draft a RB with a valuable 2nd rd pick? We keep investing in RBs year after year. The wins are not coming. I get your point of view I just don't agree with the timing of this signing. We should have waited to see how Brooks looked. People forget he was the first RB off the board. This dude might be a game changer. That Chubba money could have been spent on a defensive starter. I guess people feel differently... -
I like the way you think. I think some people are getting caught up in "he's a hard worker he deserves it". I'm not questioning if he deserves it. I'm just saying why are we investing high picks and top 10 RB money for 2 RBs. The position itself is not very valuable. People screaming 2 backs wins you games. Yeah when you have the roster. We don't have the roster to win games with 2 backs. Just seems like a signing that could have waited until we see what Brooks can bring to the table. Chubba money could have been a defensive starter money in FA.

We just wasted money on a RB. You should learn from your mistakes. Everyone is acting like Chubba has been elite for years. This was his first elite season. He could fall off after the contract. You have to look at from both sides. It makes people question the Brooks pick. Why are you selecting a RB that high only to pay another RB the same season. 2 backs is fine, but you're investing high picks and top 10 RB money for a position that isn't the most valuable. The 2 back system wins you games when you have the roster. We don't have the roster right now so to think that will equal wins just because other teams produce wins is insane.

BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard

Yeah hope this 2back system brings many wins like people keep comparing to other teams. Problem is we lack talent on defense this won't result in wins. I hate the timing this could have been done in the off-season and we could have had more options. If Brooks balled out we could have used that money on a defensive starter. RBs come and go. -
I'm not mad just disappointed at the timing. We should have waited until we see what Brooks offered. At worst it gives us options. That Chubba money could have been spent on a defensive starter. RBs are easy to find more than any other position. You can get them undrafted or late in the draft. As for those teams with 2RBs you do notice their rosters are legit? We don't have that kind of roster to get wins right away. It only works when you have a roster full of talent. We are far from that.

The top offense traded for a WR who is a FA after the season. Seems like they think he's a serious enough talent to put them over the top. Johnson is a high end #2 WR. In the right situation he has #1 type ability. This guy already had a 1000 yard season earlier in his career. He's in his prime right now. For a team who lacks talent you damn right I wanted him on this roster long-term. But he didn't want to be here so obviously you move on which we did.
-
Watch Johnson ball out and people act like we made a mistake not signing him. I'll just wait until after they win the SB. Johnson is a top 5 WR in terms of getting open. Guys like that don't come around often. We had him and just couldn't get a deal done. Dude didn't want to be here i understand, but yes I wanted us to sign him long-term. He's good at getting open. Lamar is gonna show you how important he is to a offense.

The guy who actually played RB is getting told the position is valuable. When in fact RB is probably the least important position on offense. If the Oline doesn't block the back doesn't gain yards. If the Oline blocks you get a top 3 RB aka Chubba. Ask the Eagles how they made a bad RB look all pro in Miles Sanders. You guys better listen to me on this particular subject. Nobody knows RB more than me. The position relies on others success. Anyone can run with a ball. Just open up some running lanes and I will get it done. Don't pay us big money we not that important unless the team is loaded.
-
Those guys been highlight reels for years. Now that they on good rosters they are now considered valuable. Just look at Tennessee and NY last season. At the bottom of the league because they had no talent around them. I played RB in highschool. I know the position I actually lived it. We are nothing without our Oline. No holes no factor. It's just the truth.
-
With all due respect I don't think any team was going to pay Chubba big money. He wasn't helping us win games. We are the only team dumb enough to overpay a RB aka Miles Sanders. Even the elite RBs had trouble getting paid. Nobody wanted Saquan besides the Eagles and Henry could only get Baltimore interested in him. The position is valuable when you have a roster around them. Henry was a non factor in Tennessee because he didn't have the roster. Same for Saquan. This is coming from a guy who was a RB in highschool lol. Bro we just run. Our success depends on how the Oline blocks. Without them we are useless literally! #MindOfAnEliteRB

Its the position bro. If we hadn't used a 2nd Rd pick on a RB I would not be questioning this contract. However we drafted Brooks pretty damn high and he's gonna be a backup to a RB we paid top 10 money. This is after we got screwed over with Sanders. We have been investing in RBs for the past few years now. We paying the wrong position. How does that make any sense?
-
RB is not a valuable position. That money could have went to a starter on defense. That's why you drafted Brooks in the 2nd Rd. Think about what I just said. We drafted a RB in the 2nd Rd for him to backup a RB we just gave top 10 money. We basically valuing the wrong positions for depth. This defense is flat out atrocious and we handing out quality money to a RB. That money could have went to a starter on defense. Cmon man make it make sense.

Colorado is on the verge of making the playoffs without a RB. My issue is not with Chubba he is a good guy. My issue is with the position. Why are we paying a RB before we see what we have in Brooks. Chubba could have got paid in the off-season. Since you being positive who's to say Brooks might be better than Chubba. Now we have our rookie who's better than Chubba making less money and getting less snaps. This signing was bad timing point blank.
