lol No I'm not sure. I just know it was early in Panthers history. When they used to let kids crowd around the visitors tunnel.

Thanks Mr. Scot. I remember that challenge and Jake winning. Joe Horn is the only Saints player that I have ever liked. First year of Ericsson stadium (now BoA) he threw a glove to one of my kids & I still have it.

I remember, not too long ago, when concussions and CTE were never talked about let alone treated in any meaningful manner. When a player said he didn't feel well after having his head slammed into the turf or hit in a helmet to helmet tackle he was seen as weak even by his teammates. Players were expected to play even when concussed. Times have changed but it took a long time. It's now the same way with other injuries such as joint and soft tissue injuries. The player is seen as weak if they don't play through it. These injuries then just keep piling on top of each other until they require surgery or major therapy or stop the player altogether. We watched it happen to Cam. Not everyone is Thomas Davis Sr. The thinking needs to change, the way to treat these injuries needs to change and more money needs to be put into researching treatments so that in maybe 10-15 years then-current players won't be looking to a future of constant pain and disability. If players don't speak out now, it's not going to happen.

Frank Reich's and Jim Caldwell's interviews from today
GRWatcher replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Caldwell also has connections to NC, has a home here. Never knew North Carolina was so well connected. -
I remember Smitty saying publicly that it was not his job to mentor or teach the young WRs. That was the beginning of the end of the Smitty/Panthers relationship. Smitty put himself above the team with that statement. I think Smitty was angry at Gettleman and the team because he was surprised by the announcement not because he was released. It was probably the 1st time since his rookie year that he had no control over his destiny. And he was all about control.

Must've been a heck of an interview. Impress your candidate with the organization's vision. I'm impressed.

Funny cause I was just thinking today that the best OC we could get would be a McDermott offensive clone.

Panthers hire Josh McCown as QB coach
GRWatcher replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly what I was thinking. We'll probably know by Wednesday. -

I like the way he had to tell everyone what the Organization is. They say memory is the first thing to go.

I haven't been this excited about a DC hire since Jack Del Rio came in with John Fox. So many possibilities. So much excitement! Welcome, Evero, to the heavy humid air of the Carolinas! We shoot down Chinese balloons! Shows us how smart HC Reich is.

Ho Ho! Welcome back, John!! I follow you on Twitter too. Love your stuff.

Panthers Social Team is having too much fun
GRWatcher replied to GRWatcher's topic in Carolina Panthers
Gawd I hope so! Just opening up the locker room after Rhule was fired was a treat. Now is the time to get our new HC involved with these glorious fluff pieces because he'll be hell'a' busy once his staff is set. He's such a good sport too! -
What will get fans excited? "It's all about the points." The man gets it.

Frank Reich's Intro Presser - Today, Noon EST
GRWatcher replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ah, @top dawg, you didn't catch the /s at the end of my comment. I was teasing. Slow down, bud. Stress is a killer. And, yes, we all want a SB but IMO we'll also cheer when there are two consecutive winning seasons. We're allowed. -

What impressed me over all is that Frank Reich is a smart HC. He's also very human. His trouble hearing and understanding the (rather stupid) question about the playing surface at the Bank with his saying, paraphrasing, it's not you, it's me with bad hearing had me instantly on his side. I am SSD and, when in public, I end up saying that at least once a day. I knew what the guy was saying because I had close captioning on. -

There ya go, dawg, moving the goal posts again. Everyone on the Huddle would give their first born just to have consecutive winning seasons. /s
