  1. Brown, Jewell & Robinson look to be the leadership on defense. Jewell is a guy who I think is pretty unheralded. He was really strong for the Broncos. On offense, Hunt looks like the dude on the line but it still maybe slim leadership wise elsewhere. Thielen is a good voice but he’s slowing down on the field. Really need a skill position guy that really makes this offense something/anything notable and helps create a culture. The next maybes are Legette/Brooks/Sanders.. we’ll see what they can do. Unsure on Bryce.
  2. Really though, no alts. A little insight: Been a Panthers fan since they started, fam had PSLs from the start (finally gave them up this year), grew up in south Charlotte. CU alumn (Not a Deoin/Shedeur stan though), north shore Chi-town these days (was in Madison, WI for a while) Wanted to drive some good convo here/try to outweigh the spam-oriented stuff. So, brought into the mod team with the intent to help and keep bringing conversation. We'll see if the team keeps me entertained enough to keep at this haha.
  3. Sans XL and Barrett, we got gritty, experienced, athletic, younger guys. 4 of our top 5 picks are 21/younger, not a lot of tread (w/still had plenty of snaps & experience to show for), big upside and real athleticism (JB, Trevin & Ja'Tavion especially). Brooks & Sanders are both young and were focal points for a top-CFB offense. These were also guys many had been mocking to us. Seems a lot got the "who is this?" feel with the Trevin pick, but if you dig, plenty of publications, writers, and apparently teams had him LB3 or above. Same sentiment goes to Chau, another guy I saw mocked to us mid-late rounds, 21 y/o, solid NB prospect who plays ST immediately. Tough as nails playing style. I get that we didn't double dip at WR. Legette being the only pick at the spot has us still feeling unresolved there. We also didn't get a DB or EDGE that people wanted, but I don't see a ton of carry over trends from Fitt. Some parallels though with ignoring speedy playmakers and fixating on guys no matter how things fell. We clearly just wanted XL and were getting him no matter who else was there. They were so zoned in on him, it was over Johnny Newton, Ladd, same with Dejean/Lassiter/Kool-Aid, and the centers. We were completely zoned-in on Legette. We began and ended the draft with some older college guys. But, I mean, Barrett is pick 240. It's a complete dart throw here. We had priority waivers for UDFA so you could honestly just mentally swap Coker at 240 if you want, value is pretty similar.
  4. That's one thing I've caught with Canales so far. He's definitely got that overly positive energy, but he's not some unaware guy who makes the players feel awkward. He knows where to tone it down. Overall, it was a solid production. Good vid. What stood out to me (cheerleading time): Tillis seems to be a good compliment to the decision making room. Wasn't clear how the guy would fit in, but it's nice to see he does have a football acumen and is part of the dialogue for building this team. Hunt and Robinson look like great pickups for both sides of the ball. Confident, know what they bring and how they fit, love the mentality, seem like really competitive edgy personalities to bring to the team. Those are guys that could bring in a bit of a personality and intensity to the team. Trevin--I still have a good feeling with this pick. He's in a really good spot to grow into a great LB for our base cover-6. His traits are perfect for how Evero could use him with Jewell if Shaq exits after this year. Reading between the lines, Morgan mentioned some DBs (at the end of R2) Sainristil, Rakestraw and Green went off the board (so they clearly liked those guys)..and then we felt comfortable trading back with Dru Philips, Colson there. So, they must have viewed Trevin pretty similar value wise. Sounded like they had their eyes set on him right after the trade/a few picks before so it's likely they had him as LB2 over Colson - not to mention guys like Brugler and over at PFF had him as LB2 as well. Lofa Tatupu hyping him up, some good backup there as well.
  5. Tice’s sphere is not local, he just left the Athletic to help jumpstart this yahoo thing (probably a bad career move). I’d say it’s a pretty in depth piece coming from a pretty unbiased former college QB and son of a former HC. This isn’t just a rehash, although from within our fandome it is, but this type of stuff has not been widely looked at by the outsiders looking in like this. Redundant to us-yes, doesn’t make it a bad piece.
  6. It’s a good read. Lots of valid observations.
  7. I'll take 1 each from our best years: I always liked Deon Grant back there with Minter. Don't remember the offseason moves back in those days as much, but we just kind of let him test the market after his rookie deal. I was a fan. And from 2015 I'd agree with Addison. He was consistent and played his role well. Good shout out.
  8. This was pretty funny, these guys have fun personalities.
  9. You can end up spending a ton these days for parking, tickets, & food/bev…and add in travel & stay (if you’re not local)…it’s wild how much a single game could make you throw down. Compare that to an awesome experience with every game on multiple screens in your own home and sh*tter, it is so much better unless you’re going to some major game or the playoffs.
  10. My dad didn’t renew this year. Was in since day 1 - the fam is on the north entry Panther. Don’t blame him - the team had no incentives or anything to really make it worthwhile. They shipped out some stupid plaque the other year, the product is terrible, not worth it in the slightest anymore and the transfer fees makes it more trouble than it’s worth to sell. Don’t blame him one bit.
  11. There's a lot of guys with all the tools you look for that could be in 2025. Thing is, their in-game ability to take command of an offense has only shown in flashes. And they have their flaws. Carson Beck 6'4 220, above avg to great arm strength, great size, another UGA product or more? Shedeur Sanders 6'2 215, above avg arm, playmaker.. is a diva presence a legit issue? Drew Allar 6'5 240 lively, monster arm - outstanding measurables and tools. Stuck in a bad offense/can he show more in big moments? Quinn Ewers 6'2 205, above avg arm strength, showed some iffiness - big year ahead Jalen Milroe 6'2 220, dual threat, great arm ... can he pull it together this year? Cameron Ward 6'2 225, great arm, pocket presence, can be too aggressive but has a lot to love
  12. I’m more curious than anything. Heck, I’m curious as a cat, that’s why my friends call me whiskers.
  13. Some summer fluff for your hump day. Carroll and Canales convos, decent read. Not learning a ton new, but it's something I guess haha. Didn't realize Carrrol's son is here, must've missed that hire. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/pete-carroll-says-protege-dave-canales-show-panthers-what-can-become
  14. Haener could be good/serviceable backup/spot starter. Despite juicing last season, they spent a 4th on the guy, he has some good traits.
  15. Thanks for keeping the updates going - revised the thread title so peeps know there's more being added in here.
  16. To be fair, Levis had some really notable accuracy issues in school and still does. He had great highlights this past year but his issues with short and intermediate still surfaced and he has a ways to go. He has the top 1% arm, size, and it seems a good attitude, but he doesn't have the best control over his tools. Right now, he's a fire hose without anyone holding it. But yeah, if someone legit doesn't have any tools in the top 1%, then you need to see a combination of lethal accuracy and the "intangibles" down, no questions asked. IF Bryce doesn't pan out, chalk it up another lessons learned.
  17. They showed more soccer footage than Panthers in that video lol As an architect, it looks aight. Nothing of note really stood out in the renderings -- there wasn't much that really made me think they're doing anything ambitious or opening things up to the city (despite the narration inferring otherwise). So basically: -Maintaining the core/shell - this is basically gutting the concourses, re-paneling and building out a new exterior. -"new seats" -East corner is getting opened up/mezzanine levels w/city views - this is nice -Extra wide exterior screens, continuous curved paneling. More sinuous geometry -I/O type terrace on the south side facing Morhead and what looks like a potential dettached building? (so maybe adding a secured outdoor ground level you can go during games?) -They're keeping the entry Panthers statues -Growing out the entries to make more substantial plaza spaces (but there's not much design showing in them - do wonder what Landscape Arch firm they've got as a subconsultant - that can make a big impact)
  18. Oh I agree, I’m saying those 4 bullet points are what we’re limited to due to the poor construction.
  19. Truth. And the bad drafting detracts, we have no interesting guys outside players would really want to come in and play with. Seems like Evero was able to get some from the Rams & Broncos Ds, but that's about it...and it's not like they're world beaters (although, I think Jewell & Fuller are low key for us) We're getting players via a few ways: 1- Throw enough money/more than others need to 2- We land a discard 3- A somewhat decent starter uses us as a bridge situation to get a good stat year and sign elsewhere 4- Trade
