Steve Wilks has proved he has what it takes to be HC
Bear Hands replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nice write up. If we're rolling with him come season's end, we really need a focused search on getting a legitimate offensive mind in house that won't leave immediately for a HC gig. Priority #1 alongside QB. -
Massive heart attack apparently.

I agree on the philosophy and we may honestly end up in a very ideal spot to land him. The Richardson, FA/Darnold, & Corral route may be one to go for our QB group. And then, if we like a guy later to take a stab on in R4-6, might as well. Competition never hurts.

If we're talking whose made consistent Sunday-level throws...I'm ALL in on Clayton Tune. My suspicion is teams have noticed; he just seems like a dude. Stone cold. O'Connell and Haener have impressed me as well. Even with the school returns, there's a lot more mid-round talent than usual at the QB spot. Not many top-of-draft guys, but a lot in the likes of how ones like Minshew, Prescott, Cousins, & Love were viewed as prospects. I like them better than last year's round 3 batch, but not enough to have as top-end 1sts. My Current Rankings: 1. Bryce Young (Top 5) 2. CJ Stroud (Top 12) 3. Anthony Richardson (Top 20) *4- Jayden Daniels - Return to LSU? (Rd 1) 4. Tanner McKee (Rd 1-2) 5. Will Levis (Rd 1-2) Yes, I'd rather have Daniels & McKee over Levis *6- Cameron Ward - Return to WSU? (Rd 2-3) 6. Clayton Tune (Rd 2-3) 7. Aidan O'Connell (Rd 3-4) 8. Max Duggan (Rd 3-4) ---this is around where I'd peg Corral & Ridder--- 9. Jake Haener (Rd 4-6) 10. Jaren Hall (Rd 4-6) 11. Hendon Hooker (Rd 4-6)

Vrabel is a very good coach in TEN, producing a lot with a FO making pretty strange moves. And with that being said, I can see Luke being SOOO much better than that guy. If this possibility is bettered with Wilks as HC, I'd be inclined to ramp up the OC/AHC search pronto in tandem with a HC search. I imagine we'd want to see what Wilks could align with to compare to a potential staff of another HC. Reich, Bevell, or maybe Brian Johnson? https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/eagles/could-eagles-lose-qb-coach-brian-johnson-head-coach-job

I'd be down for a 3rd on Duggan. I'd like also to throw Aidan O'Connell & Clayton Tune into the mix in that range. It appears my faves in Cam Ward and Jayden Daniels still need to make their decisions. Both have sky high potential. They may both be going back as well. Have the Round 1 ceiling if they return to school, probably R3-5 if they don't.

Mac Jones is bland and blah and meh and merhp.

I really hope we randomly strike gold with a QB. We could be a flip of the switch contender if we just find the right guy for this team. Doesn't need to be Peyton, just the right guy to win games for us. Where art thou?

I can see Levis going before Stroud and we trade up slightly for CJ. I know people aren't fans of his game when he plays from behind, but there's a lot of talent to like with him.

I'd say there's a distinct tier, I'm counting 7 clear cut tier 1s: (3) DL: Carter, Anderson, Murphy (1) QB: Bryce (2) WR: Addison & Johnson (1) OL: Skoronski (1) CB: Cam Smith *Bresee, Stroud, Mayer, & Ringo have arguments for it but see a bit of a shift looking at them and readiness+impact combo.

Will we get an additoinal draft pick for hiring Wilks full time?
Bear Hands replied to 45catfan's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
2020 RESOLUTION JC-2A Whereas, the member clubs believe that policies designed to promote equal employment opportunity and a diverse and inclusive workforce advance significant league interests, including improved decision making, enhanced business performance, and representing the NFL as an employer of choice that hires and promotes based on merit; and Whereas, the member clubs have adopted policies extending over several decades in furtherance of these goals, including policies designed to permit upward mobility and advancement of club employees, particularly those in coaching and football operations roles; and Whereas, the member clubs believe that it is appropriate to take additional steps to enhance opportunities for employment and advancement of minorities and women in key positions, including leadership roles in coaching, personnel, and football operations, Be it Resolved, that the League Policy on Equal Employment and Workplace Diversity will be amended as follows: (i) The employer-club of a minority employee who has been hired by another club as its Head Coach or Primary Football Executive (General Manager) shall receive Draft choice compensation in the form of a compensatory Draft pick in the third round in each of the next two Drafts for an employee hired as either a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive, or for the next three Drafts if it has two employees hired for both positions. The reference to the hiring of employees into “both positions” could be by the same club or different clubs. The following will apply to the Draft choice compensation: a. Any compensatory Draft picks awarded pursuant to this Policy will be at the end of the third round following all compensatory Draft picks awarded to clubs pursuant to Appendix V of the NFL-NFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement. b. If multiple clubs are awarded compensatory Draft picks pursuant to this Policy, then the order of those picks at the end of the third round will follow the original selection order for that Draft established prior to any trades or other adjustments. (ii) The employer-club shall be eligible to receive this Draft choice compensation if: a. The minority employee hired as a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive has been employed by the employer-club for a minimum of two full seasons; and b. What DJ Moore did was FLAG WORTHY but this WASN'T?????
Bear Hands replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. That's the one we have to eat as it led to the Rhule/Baker collapse. But Falcons, oh wee mayne. Could be 6-7, tied for first, and playing Mitch next week for the outright lead. -

I totally do! Was at that game, happened catty corner from my section but it was ridiculous. He did like a shoulder huge type-thing to chat with a ref (like half of QBs do these days) and was ejected. Remember that being such a sensitive ejection on the refs part. It's a pick and choose for these guys. The helmet rule is one that should just be scrapped if they aren't going to call it 90%+ of the time. -
Cotchery caught it

One of the biggest changes I've seen, regardless of QB, is Bozeman calling out protections, and effectively. He is leaps and bounds better than most centers in the league and Rhule's choice of Elflein is probably the worst eval he had in the NFL. DTs aren't collapsing the pocket which has been such a major problem since Kalil retired. Because of this, Corbett and Brady are able to adjust quickly and those three have been doing a very good job together communicating and pushing the pile forward. We need to find a QB pronto because this OL is a really good one. The defense is great.

Can Tepper find anyone better than Wilks?
Bear Hands replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only thing that would concern me is falling into a trap IF we land a great OC, they leave for a HC gig shortly after. So maybe the approach is paying a guy like Reich a lot & giving him an AHC title. Doing what we need to for landing & keeping a solid OC for a few years. But then stepping back, I honestly think that makes more sense for Wilks as a DC/AHC with a guy like Steichen or B. Johnson leading the charge. It would just be in our benefit to find a guy with a juggernaut offense vision long term but totally see it's in our benefit to keep Wilks in the building. Could be a unique situation either way. -
So CAR is now 1 GAME behind the division lead?

That damn Falcons game pisses me off. -
Are you In favor of bring back Laviska Shenault next season?
Bear Hands replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe, but I don't want to make assumptions with our WR unit. We need to keep bringing in more dudes. Really want to get a O with high firepower. Don't want to rest thinking TMJ and Love Shack are good enough with DJ. -

Bear Hands replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's a solid WR4 gadget dude. Can always use those. We're missing another top receiving threat, but the depth of our WRs has promise with TMJ and Shenault. -
Well they lost

That's a legit possibility pending Darnold going full dingleberry in the remaining games.
