All depends on how we go about draft & FA. That will be telling the type of base package we're aiming for. Quite exciting.
-
Burns was standing strong most of the time in 3-3-5 and 4-2-5s the past 3 years for Snow which is already pretty close. Played some variations in sub-packages for Rivera. Shouldn't be a big curve for him.
-
I'll be honest, I forgot about a few guys we have on the squad haha. Brandon Smith could fit in nicely & McCall could definitely be a NT (at the least a viable backup) LB Damien Wilson is still here on contract, unsure if he's viewed as a guy they want to stick around but he's on the books. He was a mixed bag.

He's the one I'm having a hard time placing. Evero by all accounts is a more blitz-friendly Fangio. The Denver players said his defense was very close in language and calls. But those shell concepts w/split safeties don't have a Chinn-type role. He'd almost HAVE to play ILB right? The Fangio schemes don't have the buffalo nickel types unless I'm mistaken. Problem is, if he gets pigeon-holed to hybrid looks where it is incorporated, does his snap count go down? Does where he's playing become a tell for opposing offenses? Lots of questions with Chinn. Could Chinn & Luvu realistically be the ILBs? Or is that too unconventional given their strengths/weaknesses? I would LOVE to hear Evero's vision for Chinn because I'm just having a hard time placing him. I won't act like I really know THAT much & how it will roll out, but looking at Denver and then historically, makes me really interested in how he fits more than anything else. My guess at the base: Woods New Deep S Horn Jackson Chinn? Luvu Haynes Burns Brown NT 3-4DE

That's my only differing opinion with Kaye in the first page. I was thinking Luvu is more ILB than EDGE. Is he more off-ball LB or a pass rusher? I'd have to think the former right?

Absolute and Absolutely NOTS Quarterback 2023

That's the way I see it. We don't have any proven core pieces that would have a hard time fitting with the potential scheme changes. YGM may be an odd man out right now but it's not like he producing a ton. Maybe he becomes part of a Bears or Cardinals trade package to jump up from 9. Chinn would be the closest other outlier (but I'm not going to assume we go full Fangio/two-high). A guy like Evero can figure out how to fit him in a smarty and quality way. Maybe someone can help educate me on how Chinn fits well in this. I think there's 4 distinct gets given Evero's background & what he's previously brought: A pure NT -- biggest hole, plain and simple A 3-4 DE mold A bigger/athletic ILB next to Luvu (Thinking of the Patrick Willis/Bowman combo) A safety to pair w/Woods (Unless they think this is Chinn) Burns, Haynes, Barno all seem to set into the OLB/EDGE role but we shouldn't shy if there's a good talent there for us in the FA or draft. Brown, Burns, Luvu, Horn, Jackson, & Woods can all fit right in schematically.

bP's NEW Video - Panthers Defensive Highlights
Bear Hands replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yessir. Luvu was a revelation. He was easily a top-20 LB performer league-wide. So great to have found a diamond in the rough, he became an absolute cornerstone to our defense. -
Fun for sure. The reconstruction of this defense around Burns, Luvu, Chinn, & Horn is about to get great. Opens up a lot of FA & prospect types we typically don't consider. Some early faves to check out: Keanu Benton, Wisconsin, 6'4 315 0/1T Karl Brooks, Bowling Green 6'4 300 1/3/5T - I have a feeling this guy is going to thrive. He's got a motor, really stood out at the SB. Byron Young, Tennessee, EDGE, 6'3 245 Felix Anudike-Uzomah, EDGE, 6'4 250 Both EDGE dudes have been building some hype and could see them being available day 2/early 3.

Draft Simulator (Lets see What You Got)
Bear Hands replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
Quentin is far from a sure thing. He’s actually one that’s been dropping below Addison, S-N, & even Flowers on more than a few spots and I’ve been seeing why after further review of the kid. Kevin White-ish. He kinda catches the ball like he’s a cartoon character running with a laundry basket. Leaves a lot to be desired IMO beyond speed+size pluses. I don’t think any WR goes until the late teens. Addison and Zay are studs. A bit unsure with the rest. Dell, Downs, Rashee and that Iosivas look fun as hell. -
I wouldn't undervalue Haynes with the defense we will be shifting to. I think he could be a 70%+ snap guy in what Evero brings. This also opens the door for some really cool mid-rounders at EDGE. Nolan Smith, Byron Young, & Nick Herbig all become very interesting all of a sudden.

Totally credit the whole hiring unit of The Teppers, Fitterer, and Morgan. The Rhule & Brady hires seemed reactive and under vetted in retrospect. This was just a well rounded search leading to sound, experienced moves. Reich may not have been our top pick as fans on the outside to start this off, but he’s got pull and this is looking to be a very good situation. Now I’m really excited about who surfaces on the other side of the ball.

Panthers Request Interview w/ Evero for DC

This staff is off to an incredible start. Id we land Brian Johnson to pair with Staley, we're in business. -
Wilson really impressed. For sure.

Hopeful but don't wanna get ahead expectation wise. Would be pretty legit if this happened. The rumoured mutual interest makes it sound plausible. -
Thank You (a note of appreciation to the members of this forum)

Interesting. Wonder if we'd look at adding an AHC label as well if he's the one. A pure lateral move seems unlikely. Having him on defense with potentially Staley on offense could be the ticket. Could still land some Philly offensive staff like B Johnson & Jason Michael.

Yeah the order of who goes in this draft WR could end up surprising some. I could see Zay going as high as WR2 depending on how things shake out. I'm personally quite high on a few but think it's going to be a class where you have more than a few success stories but it's scattered throughout. Beyond Addison, S-N, & Johnston (And I think the latter two may slip), I think the studs come from this group: Josh Downs, Zay Flowers, Rashee Rice, Nathaniel Dell, Andrei Iosivas I want one of them.

Yeah was never a fan. Remember when we elevated him to interim OC and he was a fish outta water. Surprised Ronald rolled with Scotty in WAS in the first place.

This would be my tough+athletic playmaker draft. It's easy to poach 5 & 20 from SEA for little on PFF: -

Fine, did two fun unrealistic ones with my faves at the DL, TE, & HB spots -
I feel very strongly about this... Derek Carr.
Bear Hands replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd rather let someone else grab him. High probability he goes to the NFC given the market, but he barely clipped 60% completion with some really bad games down the stretch this last season. And that was with getting Adams in house. He doesn't worry me the level of a Baker Mayfield, but more in line with the Bears when they got Cutler. Do we really want that, but at an even later part of his career? I've always viewed Carr right at that fringe of a franchise QB, but he's just not a top-tier guy. Even compared to Stafford in their primes while both were on bad teams, the eye test for me has always had Carr a step below. Maybe above Kirk Cousins & prime Andy Dalton though. He's actually a great measuring stick in looking for a guy. You kind of want to find someone at his level, absolutely bare minimum. You want to land a guy that's at the least a Derek Carr or else you should keep fishing. So, do we want to be stuck with that? He'll also be 32 in a month so how many prime years are you getting? And would it be worth that contract? You'd really have to bank on him coming in and trusting him to be the dude, ready to win playoff games (0-1 in his career), especially given the expected competition & compensation for 3-4 years. I just don't see him as the guy for us. Could he do well next season? Sure, but I'd rather gamble at higher upside long term than settle for the time being at his known peak. -
Bash on it, but it's cool to see these dudes shooting the sh*t, helmets off. The Pro Bowl dodgeball was an entertaining trainwreck.

Did anyone catch the Pickles return in the Pro Bowl skills comp? LOL
