Albert Breer with top analysis of Bryce situation
Bear Hands replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's also from Diana Russini who has her birds and is typically very careful with her weekly "what I'm hearing" stuff. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5783024/2024/09/21/jordan-love-justin-herbert-injury-updates-justin-fields-steelers-offense-bryce-young-benching/ -
Is this the real reason for Bryce's struggles?

I've always loved Kurt Warners stuff. Same with Chase Daniel when he's on the Athletic Football Show. Kurt had a great spiel the other day about how it's funny how many people will rush out to give commentary as soon as a Monday/Tuesday. When in reality, it genuinely takes time to go through the film and have thoughtful analysis. The coaches of said players can take up to 2-3 days after a game to even digest it. But oh, some kid with all-22 can figure it out within 8 hours of the game ending lol.

This Donnaly guy talks too much, what is he like radio host or something?
-
Yeah he’s talking about his job in the capacity someone should talk in respect to general life goals and perspective. Must be the psychologist in his dad slipping into his conscious. He’s also acting like he’s somehow not in control, but reality is if he wants to turn this around, he needs to look totally in control, ready to figure out how to be in control of this team, the game at hand, his future. He doesn’t seem to be wanting to grab this by the balls and do something
-
If I hear how sweet of a good young man this kid is one more time lol This is getting tiring. He is boring, his play is boring, he has like no energy, disguised as poise. Just don’t see an NFL QB and I’m going to be relieved when we’re on to our next bust.
-
Not much else. He was being very appropriate and diplomatic given the circumstances so what he said in respect to what eventually went down I find a non-story.
-
Thank you. Everyone in the media is acting like he took a 180 but he was careful with how he worded that.

RUMOR: Bryce Young 'pissed' at being benched for Andy Dalton
Bear Hands replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
He also generally seems MUCH less engaged in the complexities of the game than advertised. People thought he was some Kuechly on offense, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He’s just polite and PR wise, a very well-coached guy. He’s not as cerebral as people mentioned. Doesn’t seem like a film nerd, football geek, and is rather laid back, has this "aww shucks, I'm trying my darnest" good-guy type energy that knows how to say the right things. And just because you can say and recognize what to do, doesn’t mean your execution is good. Or your processing is great. Plenty of bad QBs have looked good in that Gruden school for example. The media is really clinging to the organizational failure and how we’ve done him dirty, but there is a large non-physical issue that hasn’t had a focus…and it’s because he’s this good guy. Embedded in the LA sports scene. -
I didn’t mind the draft and FA overall, but I do feel we could have navigated the draft a bit better. I just have a different approach to how I would have built the WR room. Cant stand how much we jeep avoiding the multi-positional types with short area quickness - this draft had Ladd, Polk, McMillan, etc. Last year passed on Reed, Rice and Dell to name a few for Mingo. Still an elephant in the room, it’s forever been an elephant in the room.

Bryce’s footwork looks the same as last season. He slowly backs up parallel to the LOS and then goes into a tip toe shuffle. There’s no retooling of footwork, there’s a way you should dropback to maximize leverage, upper body strength and throwing velocity, and he doesn’t do it. And it appears can’t be coached into doing it either. If he simply sticks with what he’s comfortable with then he should be in the CFL because you can’t do that, at his size, in the NFL.

RUMOR: Bryce Young 'pissed' at being benched for Andy Dalton
Bear Hands replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sucks to suck -
Yeah, but realistically, that’s what we’re looking at haha. He’s not-bad in stretches, very Kyle Allen-esque, who could find a rhythm but also lose it like a bad habit. If we need to simply backup Andy with not-Bryce, he’s one of the rostered guys we’d be talking about. Probably just roll with Plummer behind him at this point.
-
Howell isn’t going anywhere. Same with Stidham (who will probs replace Nix soon) and Lock (Ditto with Jones). And then interesting backups for good QBs aren’t going anywhere either (I.E Browning) Aidan O’Connell is the one I could think of that could be pried for cheap, but unsure if it’s worth it. Probably just roll with Andy and reset at QB again in the offseason.

It's time to unleash Dalton. No more dink and dunk.
Bear Hands replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
I know this idea to long for the hard-nosed AC/EP hybrid approach is appealing as we currently sit in the gutter, but you can get what you're wanting in zone heavy WC offenses. The Saints right now are dialed in on all cylinders with a zone-heavy Shanahan scheme with Kubiak's son. I just don't think we've had the right personnel + scheme + coaching aligning here in quite some time to make any sort of offense work. It's all about the marriage of parts. Right now, the big step is seeing how it works with a QB like Dalton. And then understanding how the parts come together around a more known commodity at QB. -
Assuming it's done do you select a qb this year or wait?
Bear Hands replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
It really depends on how these QBs perform through the season. There’s about two to three DLs I can see with top-10 talent, but there’s no clear lineman on either side of the ball that are screaming #1 pick. I think objective number one is to try and win as much as we can, not joking. It’s time to develop the existing talent that’s not going anywhere as much as we can so this is not as in poor of condition as it was going into last season. Let’s see what we can do. Let’s see if this team can get something going with this OL, Brooks, Diontae, XL & Sanders. If Dalton shows there’s a decent baseline situation on offense, then I think QB is in the cards. -
Bryce got benched, but the problem is still the problem
Bear Hands replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
Gotta take it one game at a time. Next step is to see what this team looks like with Dalton at the helm.- 65 replies

I don't know what you guys are talking about, the sidebar is Jer's 10 y/o cousin Alfie dressed as a Panther for Halloween.

This thread is at 27 pages for me and I just can't get past the photo in the OP. Young's eyes are below the bottom of Dalton's chin.
-
Dalton is leading this thing. It's always fun to try and find a young dude and pine after the idea of him doing something, but we've got Dalton unless he's injured. Jake Browning, Hendon Hooker, Kyle Trask, Aidan O'Connell or the slightly older guys like Cooper Rush or Jarrett Stidham...sure, all fun to think about, highly unlikely any happens or any of them amounts to anything.

Chase Daniel - Analysis of Bryce vs. Chargers
Bear Hands replied to BIGH2001's topic in Carolina Panthers
Daniel was one of the guys who was quick to point out Bryce's issues early last season on the AFS with Mays. -
Honestly, there’s no way you can put him back in. I think this is over.

Bryce Young faced the least pressure of any quarterback this week
Bear Hands replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
4.73 Air Yards per Attempt in his career, 5.4 YPA. Good freaking lord. I saw this compared somewhere — we’re basically looking at the worst statistical performance in the modern era at the position. Zach Wilson annd Russell are better. The only one that touches close is Kyle Orton in 2005 for the Bears. Ignore the TD/INT ratio, if you really just look at the full picture, there is a strong argument this is the worst QB play in the history of the game.
