Give me either one of these in the 2nd round and I’m happy..

Brian Thomas, Worthy, Troy Franklin, & Mitchell are all legit. -
I will say, I think Seattle, LAC, and LVR have different coaching types in mind compared to us so there's really 4 other teams vying for the same crop as us. NE also seems like they have a plan so I'm unsure if they're really pursuing the OC crop. Mayo or Vrabel seem like possible candidates. So it's the Titans, Falcons, & Commanders we're jostling with for our favorite guy. Unfortunately, the Falcons have a nice roster but the Commanders and Titans aren't necessarily THAT great of rosters/situations. Factor in our reported pool has more than 4 decent candidates - Ben J, MacDonald, Canales, Slowik, Frank Smith...I think we're still in a spot to get a rather exciting hire. Our roster though..yeah, that's what needs more than some work.

Strange that the prompt quoted me

A guess a positive, with all the culling in the football landscape--Vrabel, BB, Carroll, Saban, etc. taking up all the news, it will quiet the storm around our little circus.

Tell us how you really feel

Beyond the image repair failure, I just see egocentric people who can’t keep their mouths shut. Look how little is coming out of ATL, LA, SEA and TEN and then look at us and the commanders. It’s a joke. The team is publishing their search and interviews. It’s fun for the fans but I mean, the lack of awareness and restraint is still beyond the pale. Whether it’s Tepper or someone else, we have a consistent stream of crap being pooped to the media in the FO that needs to be plugged.

Saban, Carroll and Harbaugh are set to launch a pizza joint venture in Palm Springs.

Bumping this because it is officially retweet season with the coaching craziness.

probs a repost but encouraging

Seahawks is appealing for a few reasons: Great ownership/upper management Great defensive foundation (Witherspoon should be DROY, Mafe, Woolen, Love, Brooks) Have pulled together a young & promising OL (Cross, Lewis, Brown, Lucas) Run Game (Ken Walker & Charbonnet) WRs (Metcalf & JSN - Lockett will likely be out) A perfect transitional QB in Geno They need more pass rushing and to find their future at QB but that team is promising.

Maybe a Canales homecoming

Anyone else just get the Pete Carrol breaking news? ESPN app reporting he's out but staying with the franchise in a different capacity.

Another strategic management and cap candidate with an analytics approach. We very well may looking at Morgan w/ one of these hires as our new setup.
-
Started off the year a top candidate but their reg season finish left a lot to be desired.

Diana Russini mentioned something funny re: how the Commanders and Panthers are two teams that are (and kind of need to be) extra transparent about the candidate process. She said that she called up another team contact and got laughed at/shot down when she asked for their interview lineup/schedule. Our organization almost needs to so it assures fans we're looking at the right guys, but other orgs tend to be much less open about the full breadth of their interviews until they're at a certain point of the process. Makes for fun times on the board haha. Lesson being: don't take twitter feeds as gospel for everything that's happening

Morgan should also know Canales super well from their time in Seattle. They were together for 7 years.

Exactly. I will say, there has been a slight counter/correction in the past ~2 years. Defenses are able to clamp down a bit more, but QBs are still operating out at such a higher and more efficient rate than previous eras. That shift was late-2000s/early-2010s. The league is set up for their success so the ones not cutting the mustard really stand out early on in their careers. Even beyond the top guys like Chase, Waddle, Devonta, Jefferson, G Wilson, Olave, etc...you look at dudes like Pittman, Higgins, St Brown, Nico Collins, Pickens, Watson, Pierce, Doubs, Rice, Nacua, Dell, the list just keeps going haha. Like that took effort to miss out on that much WR talent when we were drafting them and it was a need. We get a freaking guy nicknamed after a jaw problem, Shi Smith and Mingo. -
It's gotta be 2010, but 2023 is close. This year's defense would have shut them out handedly and been a solid 6-0 affair if they played. 2001 had the best offense of the three and that was a different era almost. Hard to really compare IMO. 2023 was the most disappointing and biggest trainwreck season in our history, but 2010 is the worst team. Although, I look top down rosters, and maybe it was 2023? I dunno haha

With how many impact WRs have been coming on as rookies the past 5ish years, it's truly amazing we haven't found any since DJ Moore worth a damn. -
I snooped around what I could find on some of these guys finally and gotta say, McDonald gives me the best feeling about being a HC. I know we need to build an offense but he just seems like a guy who's got long term, successful coach written all over him. What he did with that defense this year was all-time modern era special (getting the defensive triple crown). Madubuike was absolutely dominant this year. He was a guy I really liked in his draft but had a slow burn. Showed flashes last year and became a top DL in 2023. Also, check out any interview of him, the guy just has a solid way about him. Doesn't seem a BSer, straight to the point, but has a very positive, energetic presence. I see why John Harbaugh likes him, similar in a few ways. https://www.the33rdteam.com/ravens-dc-mike-macdonald-is-nfls-best-2024-head-coaching-candidate/

Not really odd. They mentioned how he’s a candidate that’s not getting much media attention but is getting looked at by multiple orgs.

Interesting point by The Athletic FS this week— It’s clear we want a culture builder and someone who comes in and establish an identity. That is superseding the offensive guru type. We’re likely wanting best of both worlds, but don’t be surprised if we end up zeroing in on Macdonald or Weaver in BAL.

NFC South 2024 Offseason Financials [Spotrac]

With this organization, I tend to waiver on the side of gross under-estimation. -
He also played on a sprained ankle for a few weeks (missed a game too)

We can also roll over $6-7 mil from this season. Only 4.8 mil in dead cap (this is huge that we're finally out of dead cap hell) Est. space will be around 40 mil, some of these moves should get us north of $50 mil easily. -- Whoever the new crew is, they'll have plenty of room to work with on building what they want. We had that luxury in 2011 for Rivera's first season, but Hurney was still in the building. We are primed for a complete build from the ground up for the first time in forever.
