  1. Also, the total yards poo William Moore keeps babbling on about is really getting ridiculous when you look at pass attempts. Each season that Ryan has thrown for 4,000+ yards, he's had at least 566-651 passing attempts. The one season that Newton even had 500 passing attempts (it was 517) was his rookie year, and he passed for over 4,000 yards.
  2. Ryan has been inconsistent (look at his touchdown - interception ratio the last 2 seasons) at times as Newton has. What matters more, yards, or points?
  3. Direct comparisons total yardage wise are just about entirely pointless. You can put up a ton of yardage, but if you only have 1 playoff win in 7 years, who really gives a poo? You should know this firsthand. But if you are going to compare a guy only 4 years in, with a guy 8 years in, why would the hell would you not look at first 4 years? You've proven yourself time and time again to generally be fairly useless in regards to a rational discussion about rival players. I'll tell you first off that Ryan is a good QB, but if you genuinely think that Newton doesn't even belong in the same conversation as Ryan, then you are a moron. If you really want to look at each QB, look at what they bring to their respective teams. What matters most? Reaching the end zone. Cam Newton first 4 years: 115 touchdowns Matt Ryan first 4 years: 99 touchdowns
  4. It's the hype machine that has been behind him since before he even declared for the draft. The funny thing is, when you look at the two situations, Newton had it basically just the opposite. Few people even had Newton as the #1 QB prospect, let alone #1 overall. All that said, Luck is damn good, he's got a bright future. Right now, him and Newton are pretty close comparison wise.
  5. He lost 10 or 12 pounds last offseason, then he had a lingering injury. I think it was just all too much at once for him.
  6. I'm expecting big things from Tolbert this season, don't let me down Mike.
  7. I don't think there is much, if any, defense for having Bersin as your #1 read under any circumstances in the playoffs on the road against Seattle.
  8. Shula is who he is at this point, I think with the additions we've made on offense, we can manage with Shula. The unknown factor right now, whether you want to admit it or not, is Rivera. Will that light finally come on, and stay on for him, or will he revert back to his conservative ways only to supposedly "learn his lesson" after it's already too late, again? This is his fifth season, if we want to win a Super Bowl, his game day decision making has to become consistently better, like immediately. I can only hope that he is improved this year.
  9. They are both franchise quarterbacks, there is no debate about that.
  10. In talking about choosing between the Seahawks defense or Wilson, you do realize that the entire point is in all likelihood Wilson would not have been in either of those Super Bowls without that defense in question, yes? So continually mentioning that to supposedly strengthen your argument is rather silly. If the question is franchise QB or elite defense, I will pretty much always take the franchise QB. But this situation isn't just a cut and dry "one or the other." There are many contributing factors at play here in regards to Seattle's success.
  11. Pretty reasonable contract all things considered. I'm just happy that it got done this year, now the team can focus entirely on the upcoming season.
  12. One thing to note, it would probably clear up the gameday threads in a hurry.
  13. Now we just need neg rep to smack.
  14. For this much progress to have been made this quickly, my own guess would be that the absolute minimum in the deal would be around $50 million guaranteed. That is what he means to our offense, people may not like it, but that is the way it works.
  15. I mean it's possible of course, but I really doubt it's fully guaranteed. Honestly, I think the thing that held this up was perhaps from the Panthers end, waiting to see how Newton has recovered, and how he looked in OTA's. The timing with that seems to be awful convenient to be just a coincidence. You don't want to go into a season such as this with so much promise, and not have your franchise QB under contract. Whether you want to admit it or not, the uncertainty would be a distraction to a degree. This is best for the Carolina Panthers. We have our man, and he will lead us.
  16. Love it. Really good work, thanks Jeremy.
  17. It would only obviously help this team tremendously if both Hill, and Brown came into their own this year for us. If both of them had a good day, why not compliment both, and leave it at that?
  18. Lebron is obviously going to finish as one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA. Trying to compare players from a different era though is just pointless. I will say this, the NBA desperately needs some talent infusion. There are wayyyyyyy too many bottom feeding teams in the league right now. Even one of the best teams in the league ends up getting swept. That is simply pathetic.
  19. OL between the Seahawks and Panthers is probably close to a push. That D in Seattle protects Wilson more than anything, except Lynch of course. Let me ask you this, when was the last time the Seahawks defense was blown out once, let alone 6 times in one season? The Panthers offense last year wasn't built to keep up with high powered offenses. Luckily we've added much needed help this offseason.
  20. Eli was raked over the coals for years before those 2 Super Bowls. Even after 2 rings he still gets little respect. I don't think there is much point attempting to rank Luck, Newton, Wilson, or the other younger QB's who have less than 5 years in the league with guys who have been in for 10+ seasons like Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, etc. Andrew Luck is widely regarded as the best young QB in the league, and his career completion %, YPA, and QB rating are right there with Newton. Another thing you have to factor in when putting Cam up against other QB's is what transpired this past year injury wise, few in the current group of young QB's have yet to go through that many injuries in a single season. That skews things. This year Newton is completely healthy, we know what he is capable of, and I expect him to improve off the 2014 season substantially, especially with the offensive group we have right now.
