I thought we should have fired him in the offseason. I like the guy, but he's had his chances. My concern is with our owner and GM right now. I'm not sure they will break the mold with our next hire. I hope they do...

JR hired Gettleman. Based on Gettleman's own statements, I wouldn't expect any kind of shocking hire from us. I'm hoping that I am wrong, but I see another boring and relatively inexpensive defensive coordinator as head coach.

No matter what me, you, or the organization want to call it, the information is public now. It's began. It's active.

When was the last time a team actively and publicly began a coaching search in week 4 and it produced a winning season?

That's ultimately what it comes down to. Like I said, this whole ordeal may limit our list of candidates. We could very well end up with another Ron Rivera kind of hire again.

It isn't just a distraction for Rivera. The players are involved too. Pair this recent news coming out with us trading Beason two days ago, this is not what the team needs right now.

Hard to say without knowing what our owner is thinking. But at this point it's looking more and more like lame duck though. Information like this getting out so early in the season after a blowout win doesn't exactly instill confidence in Rivera.

Two lame duck coaches in less than five years. Now you are publicly searching for a new head coach four games into the season. One word comes to mind here. Dysfunctional. I hope you guys like no name candidates, because that's all we are likely to attract this way.

If the season was lost, I may agree. But we've only played three games. Three. At this point, we're likely to turn off some quality candidates instead of attracting them by us handling things this way. Bottom line, Richardson should have nutted up and paid the money to fire Rivera this year if he was so unsure. Instead, we are now creating needless distractions.

I'm hoping this isn't true. Not liking it at all. Only speaks to larger problems high up within our organization.

As long as we can get the same consistency from our o line week in and week out, Deangelo will produce. We still need to make sure we are properly utilizing Tolbert each week too, he doesn't need to be on the sideline. When Stewart comes back this season, I'm not expecting him to just slide back in immediately anyway. He's missed, what, all of training camp and preseason and hasn't played since last year? He's going to need time regardless.
